A new class-action lawsuit has accused Facebook of illegally harvesting biometric data on its subsidiary platform Instagram with a photo-tagging tool that allegedly stores facial recognition data.

The lawsuit, filed on Monday in state court in Redwood City, California, accuses the company of collecting, storing and profiting from the biometric data of more than 100 million Instagram users, without their knowledge or consent.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, a Facebook spokesperson said that the claims are false, and that Instagram does not use the face recognition services that are offered on Facebook.

'This suit is baseless. Instagram doesn't use Face Recognition technology,' spokesperson Stephanie Otway said.

Instagram's data policy states: 'If we introduce face-recognition technology to your Instagram experience, we will let you know first, and you will have control over whether we use this technology for you.'

Last month, the social media company offered to pay $650 million to settle a lawsuit in which it was accused of illegally collecting biometric data through a photo-tagging tool provided to Facebook users.

The new lawsuit accuses Facebook of similarly collecting and storing facial information of Instagram users.

'Once Facebook captures its Instagram users' protected biometrics, it uses them to bolster its facial recognition abilities across all of its products, including the Facebook application, and shares this information among various entities. Facebook does all of this without providing any of the required notices or disclosures required by Illinois law,' the plaintiffs wrote in their complaint.

Facebook’s latest ‘hate speech’ update proves no censorship will ever be enough for social media thought police

Facebook has expanded its already-prodigious list of banned content to include insults, blackface, and the notion that Jews control major industries. But even these new rules aren’t enough - and nothing ever will be.

The social media behemoth has bent the knee in spectacularly groveling fashion following a pro-censorship campaign disguised as an advertiser protest against Facebook’s supposed leniency toward “hate speech.” In a blog post on Tuesday, the platform announced a dramatic expansion of its Hate Speech policy along with the formation of a “Diversity Advisory Council” and a handful of “inclusivity” task forces.

Facebook has even volunteered to submit to an “independent, third-party audit in 2021,” issuing a call for proposals for would-be auditors to “grade its homework” - i.e. verify it’s not manipulating statistics to make itself look tougher on “hate speech” than it really is. In sum, Facebook has completely dropped its pretense of defiance and acquiesced to the demands of Stop Hate for Profit, the boycott campaign led by notorious censorship advocates the Anti-Defamation League.

Just as the ADL maintains its dominance by hyping up hate crimes to give the impression that Nazis and KKK members are lurking around every corner, triggering worried liberals to throw money at them to make the bad people go away, Stop Hate for Profit convinced large corporations that buying ads on Facebook was akin to endorsing the local chapter of the Hitler Youth - or Trump’s re-election campaign. Companies already walking on eggshells amid the racial reckoning triggered by the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis were in no position to oppose the ADL, especially when it had deputized social justice powerhouses like the NAACP and Color of Change to give its cause a patina of authenticity.

Never particularly well-defined, the concept of “hate speech” on Facebook already included not only “generalizations that state inferiority” (of the hygienic, mental, or moral variety), “expressions of contempt,” and “expressions of disgust,” but even “expressions of dismissal.” Yes, stating one does not care about [protected group] counts as hate speech on the world’s largest social media platform. “Mocking the concept, events or victims of hate crimes” is also outlawed, an interesting policy wrinkle given the ADL’s known propensity for flat-out inventing its own hate crime stats.

Planned Parenthood Gets More Than 600 Million Dollars A Year From The Federal Government

The amount of funding that Planned Parenthood receives from the federal government continues to explode. When Barack Obama’s second term ended, Planned Parenthood was getting about 500 million dollars from the federal government each year, but now that number has risen to more than 600 million dollars each year. As a candidate for president in 2016, Donald Trump said that he would defund Planned Parenthood, but that has not happened. In fact, it is not even an issue that is being debated on the national stage in 2020. So Planned Parenthood will continue to be showered with money from the federal government no matter who wins the election in November, and hardly anyone in America is still talking about how deeply wrong this is.

Planned Parenthood gets more money from the federal government than anyone else by far. If that funding ever stopped, more than a third of Planned Parenthood’s budget would be wiped out and the organization would instantly be in massive financial trouble.

By handing them hundreds of millions of dollars a year, the federal government is implicitly endorsing what they are doing, and that is a national disgrace which will never be erased.

Of course some people are pointing to the fact that Planned Parenthood is no longer receiving Title X funding as a major victory. Last year, new regulations instituted by the Trump administration caused Planned Parenthood to decide to opt out of the Title X program…

Title X is a federal program that focuses on providing family planning and related preventive services to low-income Americans at little or no cost.

Last week, Planned Parenthood announced that rather than comply with the Trump administration’s new regulations relating to Title X’s federal family planning program, the abortion giant would stop participating in the program altogether unless the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals stepped in to block the regulations.

The court did no such thing, and now Planned Parenthood will no longer participate in the program.

By opting out of Title X, Planned Parenthood lost about 60 million dollars a year.

Amid deep scepticism among Western experts over the drug, it appears that Chuchalin sought and failed to block its registration on 'safety' grounds before quitting the ethics council.

He specifically accused the two leading medics involved in its development of flouting medical ethics in rushing the vaccine into production.

Dr Chuchalin named Prof Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya Research Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology, and Prof Sergey Borisevich, a medical colonel and Russian army's top virologist.

The two men were the leading academics behind the new 'world-beating' vaccine.

Chuchalin allegedly asked them: 'Have you passed all the necessary paths approved by Russian Federation legislation and the international scientific community? Not!

Although specific reasons for his resignation were not given, in an interview with journal Nauka i Zhizn (Science and Life) shortly before he quit, Chuchalin warned: 'In the case of a drug or vaccine, we, as ethical reviewers, would like to understand, first of all, how safe it is for humans.

The pandemic lockdowns are a complicated issue, and that is absolutely deliberate. The point of 4th Generation psychological warfare is to present the target individual or population with a hard choice – a no-win scenario. You are damned if you do and damned if you don’t. I often equate this to the key moves in a difficult chess game; your primary goal is to create a dual threat and force your opponent to sacrifice one piece over another in order to escape with the least amount of damage. Of course, we don’t actually get to “choose” anything when we play along with this game. 4th Gen warfare is meant to eventually take IT ALL from the target population while making people think it was their choice to give those things away.

To be clear, it’s not only the pandemic being exploited as leverage to conjure these situations. Minnesota attorney general asks for a joint trial for the four Minneapolis police officers charged in George Floyd's death to spare witnesses and the family from repeat trauma

Prosecutors have asked a judge to try four fired Minneapolis police officers jointly in George Floyd's death, in a bid to spare the families and witnesses from repeat trauma.

Keith Ellison, the attorney general for Minnesota, filed a memo arguing that evidence against the four is similar, and that a single trial would be more humane for those testifying.

Holding one trial also would allow the community and the nation to absorb the impact of the verdicts for the four officers at once, instead of piecemeal, Ellison argued.

'Forcing the community to endure four separate trials, with four separate verdicts at four different times, is likely to compound and prolong the trauma to the community,' wrote Ellison, whose office is leading the prosecution.

Floyd, a black man, was handcuffed and lying face-down when Officer Derek Chauvin, who is white, pressed his knee against Floyd's neck for nearly eight minutes on May 25.

Floyd repeatedly said he could not breathe and called out for his mother before passing out.

He was pronounced dead at a hospital that evening, and his death sparked protests around the world.

Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter.

The other three officers, Thomas Lane, J. Kueng and Tou Thao, are charged with aiding and abetting both second-degree murder and manslaughter.

All four officers were fired and are scheduled for trial in March.

Attorneys for Chauvin and Kueng declined comment on the prosecution's motion to hold a joint trial.

Defense attorneys for Lane and Thao did not immediately reply to requests from The Associated Press for comment Wednesday.

Israel Cuts Gaza Fishing Zone After Unrelated Fires

Israel takes half of fishing zone, closes border crossing

On Wednesday night, Israel halved the Gaza Strip fishing zone as a form of collective punishment against the Gazans. Officially this was retaliation for fires started by incendiary balloons.

Of course, the people launching the balloons are not the same people who need to fish. The blockade severely limits Gaza’s access to food, and taking the exterior half of the fishing zone will more than reduce their fishing output by half.

Israel has regularly used fishing limits to “punish” the Gazans, and dangles increases of fishing as an incentive to get their way.This is always temporary, keeping Gazans on a more or less permanent diet.

The incendiary balloons are an ongoing problem, but again Israel’s response is to attack people unrelated to the balloons. It’s likely to be popular domestically as they are doing something, and punishing the Palestinians is politically a safe choice.

Israel uses Beirut blast pretext to change mandate of UN force in Lebanon

Under the guise of the Beirut blast, the Israeli occupation has been mobilising members of the United Nations (UN) Security Council to change the mandate of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Arab48.com reported on Wednesday.

Israeli Ynet News reported Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi taking diplomats from some of the Security Council member states on Tuesday to the Israel-Lebanon border, where the Israeli army claims that Hezbollah attempted to infiltrate Israel earlier this month.

Speaking to a group of 12 ambassadors, Ashkenazi stated: “Israel supports the existence of UNIFIL, but it wants full application of its mandate,” claiming that UNIFIL is unable to carry out its full mandate due to Hezbollah.

“Israel cannot remain indifferent in the face of Hezbollah’s attempts to harm its civilians,” Ashkenazi asserted.

He added: “The organisation operates in densely populated urban areas using Lebanese civilians as human shields, as was evident in the recent tragic event in Beirut that caused the deaths of hundreds of innocent people.”

Ynet News also reported US Ambassador to the UN Security Council Kelly Craft stressing the need for a new mandate.

At a closed council meeting held on Tuesday on UNIFIL, whose mandate is up for renewal at the end of the month, Craft expressed: “The US has long reiterated publicly and privately that the status quo in Lebanon is unacceptable.”

With playing up the “threat” of ISIS remaining a top priority, commander Frank McKenzie warned on Wednesday that ISIS remnants are rebuilding in Western Syria with little the US can do to move against them.

McKenzie says that Western Syria is “as bad or worse” than it was when ISIS formed there in the first place, though historically ISIS came out of Iraq into Syria, and didn’t just form in a bad part of war-torn Syria.

The US has removed troops from Syria, and is concentrating just on controlling an oilfield therein. The rest of the area, almost all of which was ISIS Caliphate in recent years, is controlled by either the Syrian government or Turkish forces.

This narrative lets McKenzie fault Syria for not doing more, and keeps the story out there that the US troops are doing something ISIS related, a main military talking point for staying.

Pelosi: COVID talks will resume when GOP offers $2T

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that the high-stakes talks between the White House and Democrats on coronavirus relief will resume only when Republicans come to the table with at least $2 trillion.

"When they're ready to do that, we'll sit down," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol.

The comments foreshadow a rocky road ahead as the parties haggle over a fifth round of emergency relief designed to address the health needs and economic devastation caused by the pandemic, which has hit the United States harder than any other country.

Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) had huddled with the White House negotiators — Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and chief of staff Mark Meadows — for a full two weeks when the talks broke down last Friday.

Quite aside from specific policy prescriptions, the sides have not yet agreed to the overall size of the next aid package.

Pelosi and House Democrats had passed a $3.4 trillion relief bill in May, while Senate Republicans responded late last month with a $1.1 trillion counterproposal.

The Democrats last week had offered to meet in the middle — somewhere in the $2 trillion range — but the Republicans refused the offer, ending the talks indefinitely.

Seeking a breakthrough, Mnuchin and Pelosi spoke by phone on Wednesday, but the conversation did nothing to break the stalemate. Indeed, Pelosi said she'd made the same $2 trillion offer, and Mnuchin had responded with the same rejection.

Mnuchin issued a statement afterward saying Pelosi's account was "not an accurate reflection" of the conversation.

"She made clear that she was unwilling to meet to continue negotiations unless we agreed in advance to her proposal, costing at least $2 trillion," Mnuchin said, adding that the Democrats "have no interest in negotiating."

Pelosi on Thursday wondered where the inaccuracy lay, noting that both sides were clear that the disagreement centered on the Democrats' $2 trillion demand.

"We said, '$2 trillion and then we can sit down at the table.' Then he said, 'That's not what she said. She said $2 trillion or we can't sit down at the table,'" Pelosi said. "Didn't you think that that was strange?"

Asked when she might speak with Mnuchin again, Pelosi amplified her numerical requirement.

Democratic Senate candidate Sara Gideon repeatedly killed bills to outlaw female genital mutilation during her tenure as the speaker of the Maine House of Representatives.

Gideon leveraged her leadership position in the Democrat-controlled legislature to kill two separate bills that would have criminalized the practice of severing the clitoris of infant girls and sewing their vaginas shut. Instead, the Democrat supported a different law that would have funnelled $150,000 to her political allies to educate Mainers about the practice instead of criminalizing it, according to a former state legislator who spearheaded the push to stop the mutilation.

Under Gideon's leadership, Maine Democrats argued that the bill was racist toward the state's large immigrant community from Somalia, a country where the practice is "nearly universal" according to the United Nations. The Democrats also argued that the practice rarely takes place in Maine and is already outlawed by existing federal and local laws.

Gideon's efforts have helped make Maine one of only 12 states that have not banned female genital mutilation. Such a legacy threatens to complicate her cultivated image as a champion of women's rights, one built on her consistent support for abortion access and the #MeToo movement. The image strategy has paid off, translating into hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations and outside money support from national pro-abortion groups. Gideon did not respond to a request for comment.

F. A. Cole, a survivor of female genital mutilation who testified before the Maine legislature, expressed deep frustration for the bill's failure. "The Democrats, especially the Speaker of the House Sara Gideon, did everything she could in her power to just kill this bill," she told the Washington Free Beacon. "I could not understand why."

Female genital mutilation is an archaic cultural custom practiced in parts of the Middle East and Africa that the United Nations considers a violation of human rights. The procedure, which is done to discourage sex outside of marriage, causes numerous medical problems such as excessive bleeding, infections, difficulty passing urine, and sometimes death. A 2012 Public Health Reports study estimated that more than 500,000 women and girls were at risk for female genital mutilation or its consequences in the United States.

Qatar’s terror financing has gone largely unaddressed due to Doha’s hosting of the Al Udeid military base, which houses U.S. Central Command’s regional headquarters. Qatar also is accused of being behind a series of cyber espionage operations targeting prominent Americans and members of the U.S. Jewish community.

The Qatar trip comes just days after new allegations arose about the country's efforts to send illicit weapons shipments to Hezbollah, which has increased its assaults on Israel in recent weeks. Qatar tried to hide its role in these arms shipments by offering bribes to those involved in the matter, according to a Fox News report.

A State Department spokesperson, speaking only on background, acknowledged the report but maintained that Qatar remains a primary U.S. ally in the fight against terrorism.

Update (1340ET): It's been an interesting afternoon for commentary on the US coronavirus outbreak. Novartis CEO Vas Narasimhan said during an interview Thursday that while a combination of the vaccine and drugs should be able to treat the virus, it's still possible it might never go away, instead becoming a seasonal virus like the flu. Kushner After Israel-UAE Agreement: 'Another Country Could Make Deal’ With Tel Aviv in Coming Days

The United States has mediated a peace deal that will see Israel and the UAE fully normalise relations and establish diplomatic ties, according to a joint statement. Israel will also suspend plans to declare sovereignty over Palestinian territories.

The UAE-Israel peace deal may provide space for the Palestinians to come to the negotiating table, senior adviser to the US president Jared Kushner said in a statement.

He also said that there is a good chance that another country could make a deal with Israel in the coming days.

Kushner continued on by saying that the UAE has become one of the US' closest allies after the deal with Israel.

The senior adviser's statement comes after Washington brokered a peace deal between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi, the third such agreement in existence and the first in over a quarter of a century, that puts on hold controversial plans to extend sovereignty over Palestinian lands and may open the way for further rapprochement between the Jewish state and the oil-rich monarchies of the Gulf, America’s major allies in the region.

Delegations from Israel and the UAE are set to meet in the coming weeks to discuss and negotiate a wide range of bilateral agreements regarding "investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, energy, healthcare, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies, and other areas of mutual benefit".

San Francisco Sen. Scott Wiener Introduces Bill to Decriminalize Men Having Sex With Boys

San Francisco state Senator Scott Wiener has introduced a new bill to decriminalize adult men having sex with boys and he and his allies in the media are smearing all opposition as "homophobic" and "anti-Semitic."

LGBT activists have pushed reasonable notions of equality to its limits with obscene perversions. State Sen. Scott Wiener, D-San Francisco the same lawmaker who co-sponsored a bill in 2017 to remove the felony penalty for knowingly exposing another person to HIV has introduced a bill, Senate Bill 145 to give judges more flexibility in sentencing gay men who abuse minors.

Under current law which Wiener, who is gay, describes as "horrific homophobia" a straight 24-year-old male who has sex with a 15-year-old girl can avoid being put on the sex-offender list if the judge feels the situation does not deserve it, but a gay man in the same scenario with a similar-aged boy would not be given the same option.

Wiener's argument is one of evolving social standards. In 2015, the California Supreme Court upheld the long-standing separation of vaginal sex from other forms of sex-based on the misguided idea that if pregnancy occurred, placing the father on the sex-offender list could ruin his chances of providing for his family. The extreme of the scenario would be an 18-year-old man with a 17-year-old girlfriend.

Wiener's bill, however, is not so straightforward. He argues all forms of sex should be treated equally under the law.

The Law Will Protect Exploitation of Minors

Moreover, while there is room for flexibility in a ruling in which a boy turns 18 while his girlfriend is still 17 and her father presses charges, the bill defines the age minimum at 14. Recognizing that minors cannot legally consent to sex, Wiener argues that if a minor age 14 to 17 voluntarily has sex with an adult who is less than 10 years older, the judge should decide based on the individual facts of the case whether the adult should be placed on the sex-offender registry. Data provided by Wiener's office states, "[A]t least 2,400 people on the [CA] sex-offender registry, and potentially hundreds more, have been convicted of non-vaginal sex with a minor age 14 or older."

1) Please provide proof that what is being referred to as the SARS-COV-2 virus (COVID-19) actually exists. Proof MUST include actual evidence that the virus has actually been isolated, positively identified, and then successfully used to infect a healthy volunteer (the standard protocol using Koch's postulates).

2) Please provide proof that any of the tests being used actually identify whether someone has what is being referred to as the SARS-COV-2 virus (COVID-19). Proof MUST include actual evidence of what these tests actually test for, and how whatever is being tested for proves one does or doesn't have this alleged virus. Proof must also include the expected number of false positives and false negatives the test(s) produce, and how those two designations are determined.

3) Please provide proof that what is being referred to as the SARS-COV-2 virus (COVID-19) can actually be spread through contact with bodily fluids of any kind. Proof MUST include actual evidence showing healthy volunteers being infected by those alleged to have what is being referred to as the SARS-COV-2 virus (COVID-19).

4) Please provide proof that wearing a mask can actually stop any viral size particle from going through the mask in either direction. Proof MUST include a comparison of the size of the weave of the fabric used for the mask, relative to the size of the alleged viral particle.

If you can't provide any proof of these things, then please stop pretending to know what you're talking about.
