>Why does Google own patents regarding extraction of Quinine from Cinchona Bark?

Google doesn’t own the patents. These are results from Google’s patent search engine, which is a convenient vehicle for identifying patents across multiple international jurisdictions.

The patent applicant (at least the first one you listed that I checked) is an Indian biotech company. The downloadable pdf of the patent filing linked by the search engine, showing applicant and inventor, plus the substantive claims made, make ownership of the IP clear.

In a country with serious malaria challenges, one would expect Indian biotech companies to have significant interests in the improvement of manufacturing quinine-derived compounds.

So not really notable at all.
