FORTNITE APPLE BATTLE ROYALE

Free Fortnite: Epic Sues Apple And Google After Fortnite Removed From App Store

Earlier today, Epic added direct purchases to Fortnite and began selling V-Bucks for cheaper–cutting Google and Apple out of the loop.

Epic Games today introduced direct payments in Fortnite's mobile versions, circumventing the App Store cuts taken by Apple and Google. In response, Apple has removed Fortnite from the iOS App Store, and that in turn has led to Epic filing a lawsuit against Apple. Google followed Apple's lead later in the day, blocking access to Fortnite from the Google Play Store as well. You can follow along with developments below or check out our explainer summing up why Fortnite was removed from the App Store and Google Play.

Update 7: Epic is not stopping at Apple–they've now filed a suit against Google, too. The 63-page document opens with a statement about Google's 1998 motto, "Don't Be Evil," alleging that the company has "relegated its motto to nearly an afterthought, and is using its size to do evil upon competitors, innovators, customers, and users in a slew of markets it has grown to monopolize."

Update 6: Fortnite has now been removed from the Google Play Store as well as the App Store.
