Robert Trump, the younger brother of US President Donald Trump, has been hospitalised in New York, the White House confirmed on Friday.

The president is expected to travel to New York to visit his sibling, sources confirmed to both The Daily News and CNN.

Details of Robert Trump’s condition have not been disclosed, but officials told ABC News that the president’s brother is “very ill”.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told the network that Trump and his brother “have a very good relationship” and that the president would provide more details later.

US fines food company that imported items made by Chinese prisoners

US customs officials seized a shipment of stevia in 2016 after receiving information that it was made by Chinese prison labour

The agency collected US$575,000 from Pure Circle USA in the first such penalty issued since the passage of the 2015 Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act

The United States has hailed a milestone in its drive to ban the imports of products made by forced labour, after fining a company it judged to have used Chinese prisoners to make food sweetener.

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said on Thursday it had collected US$575,000 from Pure Circle USA following a civil action, the first such penalty issued since the passage of the 2015 Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act.

The law bans the import of goods made entirely or in part by forced labour, ranging from prison work to bonded child labour.

The agency seized a shipment of stevia – a plant extract used as a sweetener in sodas – in May 2016 after receiving information that it was made by prison labour. The CBP did not specify where in China the product was produced.

United States Sanctions Break Chávez-China Company

CV Shipping was a company founded by Hugo Chávez in 2008 when China was looking to strengthen its ties with Venezuela.

CV Shipping Pte Ltd (CVS), a joint venture between Venezuela and China, filed for bankruptcy after U.S. sanctions took effect- a move that also left PDVSA without three of its large oil tankers.

A Reuters report revealed that the state oil company PetroChina Co Ltd took control of three Venezuelan oil tankers, according to a Singaporean court order.

According to Reuters, the transfer occurred after U.S. sanctions against PDVSA left the vessels uninsured, resulting in millions of dollars in losses for CV Shipping and leading to PetroChina’s bankruptcy.

Reuters explains that Singapore law requires ships to have insurance to set sail, and the fact that the insurer stopped providing the service to avoid penalties meant that the company could not operate.

According to the report, the company was left without insurance to operate. Further, its accounts were frozen. Consequently, a legal dispute was initiated for the owners to divide the assets.

US Postal Service struggles to explain DISAPPEARING mailboxes as Trump declares war on mail-in voting

The US Postal Service has given conflicting reasons why mailboxes are being removed from Portland, as a vicious partisan tug-of-war over mail-in voting comes to a head, with President Trump vowing to block funding to the agency.

After several images of USPS trucks being loaded up with street-side mailboxes in Portland and nearby Eugene went viral, Postal Service spokesman David Rupert told local media his agency was merely replacing old, vandalized post boxes with “newer, more secure models.”
