‘Not treated fairly’? Trump appears to soften on ‘Snowden a traitor’ stance, as supporters renew calls for pardon
Despite having called National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden a “traitor” numerous times in the past, President Donald Trump now acknowledges that the former CIA contractor may have been “treated unfairly.”
“There are a lot of people that think that he is not being treated fairly. I mean, I hear that,” Trump told The New York Post, in an interview about Snowden, the former Central Intelligence Agency subcontractor best known as the whistleblower who exposed massive, warrantless surveillance of American citizens being carried out by the NSA back in 2013.
Snowden has since been a fugitive from the US and self-exiled in Moscow, where he ended up stranded while in air transit, after his American passport was revoked in June 2013.
During the interview, Trump acknowledged that the Department of Justice could be seeking to extradite Snowden soon, but said he might “look into” the matter, which many have taken as a suggestion that a pardon could be a possibility.

AI Company That Helped Build China’s Surveillance State Is Being Used In Las Vegas Schools
An artificial intelligence company that helped build China’s surveillance network is installing technology inside a private Las Vegas school to measure student’s body temperatures as they head back to school amid a pandemic, the company said in a press release.
U.S.-based AI company Remark Holdings announced a deal Monday with the private pre-K-12 school to install thermal kits designed to test body temperatures for signs that incoming students have contracted coronavirus, according to a press statement from Remark. The system scans up to 120 people a minute and alerts personnel to individuals that could have higher than normal temperatures.
“Things are strange enough. Kids are going to be coming to school with masks. They’re going to be meeting friends with masks,” Jeremy Gregersen, the head of school at Meadows, told Vox blog Recode on Friday. “What we want is for kids to feel welcome and to normalize their arrival at school as early as possible.”

Feds tout $8 million heroin bust as ‘significant crush’ to Atlanta’s drug trade
As part of the largest heroin bust in Georgia history, federal agents said the arrest of a top Mexican cartel liaison will significantly hinder the flow of drugs in metro Atlanta.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, FBI and state prosecutors touted the arrest of Antonio DaShawn Daniels, 46, of Atlanta, as a “significant crush” to the Jalisco New General Cartel’s ability to smuggle heroin, cocaine and other drugs into the Southeast.
Daniels was arrested July 27 when agents raided several properties that he owned in “The Bluff,” a notorious segment of northwest Atlanta known for easy access to heroin. In total, about 375 pounds of heroin was intercepted, along with 22 pounds of cocaine, 20 pounds of marijuana, 41 firearms and $1.5 million in cash.
The drugs are estimated to be worth more than $8 million.
“This could permeate through any community in metro Atlanta, throughout the state of Georgia and beyond,” Chris Hacker, special agent in charge of FBI Atlanta, said during a Wednesday news conference.

In June 2017, the New York production of Shakespeare in the Park modified its costuming for its production of “Julius Caesar” so that the title character resembled the new U.S. president. After the actor playing a Trump-resembling Caesar pretended to succumb to the many wounds inflicted by the conspiracy of assassins, the character Brutus implored his co-conspirators to, “Stoop, Romans, stoop, and let us bathe our hands in Caesar’s blood up to the elbows and besmear our swords.” In doing so, Brutus forced the other conspirators to become indivisibly responsible for the coup. Nobody could turn on the other plotters if everyone had Caesar’s blood on their sword.
In an irony almost lost to history, the play-acting coup against the image of Trump had an analogue in reality. At that same moment in June 2017, Kevin Clinesmith forwarded two emails to his fellow conspirators who lied to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in order to spy on Trump campaign figure Carter Page.
One email reflected that Carter Page worked as a source for the CIA to gather information on the Russians. That email exposed the entire Carter Page FISA spying as completely unnecessary and therefore totally illegal.

NXIVM was a well known company that supposedly offered executive success programs but hid behind this description and mainly operated as a sex cult. Mack is still awaiting her sentencing, she and multiple other actresses have been accused of working for the cult in a management capacity. Mack’s job was to lure women into the program under the false pretence of female empowerment. The leader, Keith Raniere, is currently in prison and awaiting sentencing for sex-trafficking. He was also accused of raping girls as young as 12–15 years old, imprisoning a woman for 18 months, child pornography, and more.
Women and possibly even children lured into the program were then convinced to sign up for a more “advanced program” called Dominus Obsequious Sororium, which required them to basically turn their lives over to the leader, Raniere. Dominus Obsequious Sororium is a quasi-Latin phrase that roughly translates to “Master Over The Slave Women.” In this case, sex slaves.

Eric Clanton takes 3-year probation deal in Berkeley rally bike lock assault case
A college professor charged with four counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon has taken a deal resulting in three years of probation, court records reveal.
A former East Bay college philosophy professor who was charged with four counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon, causing great bodily injury, has taken a deal resulting in three years of probation for an attack at a Berkeley protest last year, court records reveal.
Eric Clanton had been linked by police to violent assaults with a metal bike lock during a “free speech” rally in Berkeley on April 15, 2017. Before his arrest, Clanton had been “outed” online, on the website 4chan, as someone who used a bike lock to strike a man in the head. The assault was captured in a video clip (below) that drew widespread attention and anger after it was posted on YouTube.
Wednesday, Clanton was supposed to have had his preliminary hearing, where a judge decides whether there’s enough evidence in a case for it to move ahead to trial. Instead, there was no hearing, and information about Clanton’s plea deal became available online.
