This was a frustrating statement. I trust POTUS. However the references to Assad's culpability - being a monster etc - is totally unnecessary. Just say that chemical attacks are a red line that results in military action. It's very reminiscent of the sort of specious horseshit peddled after a terrorist attack about Islam being the religion of peace. Really grinds my gears.
