Democrats Schedule ‘Urgent Hearing’ on ‘Postal Service Sabotage’

Democrats are demanding that Postmaster General Louis DeJoy testify at a hearing about mail-in voting and the November election on August 24.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and fellow Democrats issued a press release Sunday: The hearing will examine the sweeping operational and organizational changes at the Postal Service that experts warn could degrade delivery standards, slow the mail and potentially impair the rights of eligible Americans to cast their votes through the mail in the upcoming November elections. The Postmaster General and top Postal Service leadership must answer to the Congress and the American people as to why they are pushing these dangerous new policies that threaten to silence the voices of millions, just months before the election.
“The President has explicitly stated his intention to manipulate the Postal Service to deny eligible voters access to the ballot in pursuit of his own re-election,” the release said.
The announcement also accused DeJoy of acting as an “accomplice in the President’s campaign to cheat in the election, as he launches sweeping new operational changes that degrade delivery standards and delay the mail.”
However, White House trade and manufacturing adviser Peter Navarro alleged Sunday that Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) were trying to turn the postal service into a “ballot harvesting service.”
He continued:
Let’s think about it. First, the irony of what’s getting Chuck and Nancy back to Washington; it’s not concern about the working men and women of America, who really need our help right now. They want to come back so they can rename the post office the United States ballot harvesting service. So it’s unfortunate we get these – in the middle of the election – we get all these new cycle things going on that they seize upon.
During a recent interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity, President Trump said he believed Democrats were willing to play a “much dirtier game” than Republicans, Breitbart News reported.
“The Republicans, fortunately, much better policy, but they ought to get tougher. The Republicans have to get tougher. And this whole thing with this mail-in ballot, that’s a rigged election waiting to happen,” he concluded.

ROME – Pope Francis continued cleaning house in Poland on Thursday following revelations of clergy sexual abuse and cover-up, replacing the powerful archbishop of Gdansk on his 75th birthday.
While all Catholic bishops must offer to retire when they turn 75, it is highly unusual for the pope to accept such a resignation on a prelate's actual birthday. Doing so suggests that Francis was keen to send a signal showing his seriousness about ending the culture of concealment within the Polish church hierarchy.
The pope named a temporary administrator to run the Gdansk archdiocese after accepting the resignation of Archbishop Slawoj Leszek Glodz.
Glodz was featured in one of the devastating recent documentaries about priestly sex abuse and cover-up in Poland that have sparked a reckoning in the overwhelmingly Roman Catholic country.
In the 2019 film “Tell No One,” Glodz is shown eulogizing a known pedophile priest, the Rev. Franciszek Cybula, the personal chaplain to Solidarity leader Lech Walesa, at his funeral despite knowing of his abuse.
Abuse survivors also included Glodz in a report identifying two dozen current and retired Polish bishops accused of protecting predator priests. The report was delivered to Francis on the eve of his 2019 global abuse prevention summit at the Vatican…

A rapid response spokesman for President Trump hit back, questioning if Biden is even up to the premise of meeting American voters in a physical, campaign-style fashion.
The four campaign stops are slated for the states of Arizona, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. It appears as if the events will be held with strict social distancing rules, raising questions as to why the Biden campaign sees it to be appropriate to shame the notion of in-person campaigning.
The Biden campaign has spoken against the premise of postponing the election for safety purposes, an argument that seems reasonable enough. They’d be wise to consider that electoral campaigning is just as much of an integral element of the democratic process as election day is, and that it shouldn’t be merely silenced.
As Biden patiently waits in his basement in anticipation of an easy November election victory delivered from the mainstream media, his suggestion that in-person campaigning is off limits raises serious questions about his ability to govern as President.
