Yes. But there is an optimal level of virulence for a given transmission mechanism. For droplet transmission that level is fairly mild. That's why convergent evolution has driven 200+ different stain to produce basically the same set of symptoms that we call the "common cold". Sure it will evolve to affect younger demographics. But the effects after it does that should be no worse than other cold viruses.

Regardless of what receptors the virus uses, it remains to be not in the virus's interest to make its host too sick to engage in normal activities with other potential hosts. So it will evolve to stay under-the-radar as much as possible.
