Another problem I forgot to mention, a system that allow you to check that your vote was counted can also be used to prove too someone else how you voted. This would enable vote selling. People voting a certain way in exchange for money (or to avoid extortion) is why you're not supposed to take a picture of your ballot. So unless there is a way to address this issue them the whole discussion is moot.
