Believe it. East of Cascades in OR/WA is desert. It gets hot in deserts. I've seen 12 days this year over 110. Personal record just west of Boise is 117. (btw, the low PR is -34F at same spot).
I registered 127F in Mojave CA in 2004 on three different thermometers.
