Mercury/Hermes wasn't a merchant like our frens usually refer to. That... "being" was a messenger, one that showed the lowly humans how to do certain things or understand certain things. This character plays a similar role to Thoth in Egyptian theology, for instance. You can also make connections to Thomas Aquinas and his alchemical affinities, which translate directly to the GOLD you see adorning the symbolism invoked by Hermetics.
Can you further extrapolate for us as to how this translates to Goodyear and them being faggots and flaunting their link to Golden Fleece orders (which no longer have recognizable connections to the Hermetic orders)?
