>same person, though, right?
>Yes, they're the same person.
>I don't understand what I'm missing then.
Mercury is a planet. Not-...
Not a person.
Yes. Both Hermes and Mercury refer to the planet.
Many planets were given human personifications.
You're going to experience some extreme disconnect if you don't fully understand why these planets were feared, revered, romanticized, etc.
Our solar system has not been nearly as stable as we were led to believe it has been. There was a complete restructuring that occurred within the historic records of humanity.
According to the records, it would appear that Mercury was prominent in our sky, and causing a bit of chaos here on Earth, not long before Jupiter came into the picture. Ultimately, playing a key role in freeing us from Saturn, during the climax, along with a newly "born" Venus.
Not your fault for missing all that. There's a lot of obscurity to it all, and even moar brainwashing to get you to believe that such events never actually took place. But there is overwhelming evidence, not only found in the records of mankind, but there are scars on some of these planets which can only be explained by Electromagnetic interactions between planetary bodies. Heck, the entire Earth was reshaped during the events and once you see the scale of devastation, you'll likely understand rather quickly what it truly means to be "God-fearing"...
