I work in a state agency that gives out benefits, we have a law that when someone tells us they are illegal we are suppose to report it.
Our Policy? Stop them in their tracks if you think they are going to tell you and read the Script warning them that if they mention it they will not get benefits and I will be required by law to report them.
Its S.O.P and my colleagues just gloss over it if they report they are illegal and process the claims for welfare. Ain't life grand?
