Today Kolfage was indicted along with former Trump White House strategist Steve Bannon by the Southern District of New York (SDNY) and their Acting US Attorney Audrey Strauss, a Democrat.

The charges read like an Andrew Weissmann hit piece. The former Mueller gang leader left the DOJ and now lives in New York. In the indictment the DOJ consistently accuses Kolfage and Bannon of using funds to pay for expenses unrelated to building the border wall.

The SDNY claims that Kolfage and Bannon said 100% of donations would go to the wall and are indicting these wall builders of spending a couple hundred thousand on salary and expenses in building the wall.

Bay Area man sentenced to 108 months for child pornography

SAN JOSE, Calif. – On August 18, 2020, Oscar Sepulveda was sentenced to 108 months in prison and ordered to pay $9,000 in restitution for distributing and possessing child pornography, announced United States Attorney David L. Anderson and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) NorCal Special Agent in Charge Tatum King. The sentence was handed down by the Honorable Beth L. Freeman, U.S. District Judge.

“We stand ready to protect our community’s most valuable asset, our children,” said Special Agent in Charge Tatum King. “HSI will be continuing working with its federal, state, and local law enforcement partners throughout the Bay Area and Northern California in this crucial endeavor.”

According to court documents, Sepulveda admitted to using a website which allowed him to share sexually explicit images with other users and communicate with other users about the images. One such image was shared with 40 other users at one time. The defendant also possessed over 750 sexually explicit images of children on his personal devices. A federal grand jury indicted Sepulveda charging him with one count of possession of child pornography, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252(a)(4)(B), and one count of distribution of child pornography, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2252(a)(2).

In addition to the 9-year prison term, Judge Freeman also sentenced the defendant to a five-year period of supervised release and ordered him to pay restitution to the victims in an amount to be determined at a later hearing. The defendant was immediately remanded into custody of the U.S. Marshal’s Service.

Trump Meets Iraqi Leader to Discuss US Future Role in Iraq

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump on Aug. 20 hosted the new Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi at the White House as part of a strategic dialogue to increase Iraq’s defensive capabilities and help reduce its dependence on Iran. Both leaders also discussed the future role of the American troops in Iraq.

“We have been taking our troops out of Iraq, fairly rapidly,” Trump told reporters during a bilateral meeting with Kadhimi.

“We look forward to the day when we don’t have to be there, and hopefully Iraq can live their own lives, and they can defend themselves, which they’ve been doing long before we got involved.”

American troops have been training and equipping Iraqi security forces and advising them in the fight against the Islamic State militants (ISIS).

“We’ve been in Iraq for a long time,” Trump said. “And now we’re getting out, we’ll be leaving shortly. And the relationship is very good. We’re making very big oil deals—our oil companies are making massive deals.”

When asked about a timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, “as soon as we can complete that mission.”

“The president has made very clear he wants to get our forces down to the lowest level as quickly as we possibly can,” he added.

A former intelligence chief, Kadhimi came into office in May amidst a political crisis and ongoing unrest in the country. An opponent of Saddam Hussein, he lived several years in exile the UK and the United States, establishing good connections in both countries.

Iraq’s economy currently faces a possible collapse as the plummeting oil prices and the pandemic have caused severe economic hardship for the country.

“The United States helped Iraq enormously in defeating ISIS and also in toppling the Saddam Hussein’s regime. We are working on building a strong relationship” based on “joint interest” and “economic interest,” Kadhimi told reporters during the bilateral meeting.

The meeting between both leaders aims to bolster Iraq’s defensive capabilities and improve its stability and security, which includes preventing the reemergence of ISIS, according to a senior administration official who briefed reporters ahead of the meeting.

The Trump administration’s goal is also “to ensure that Iran’s malign and destabilizing influence is no longer present and affecting the stability, political, and security environment inside of Iraq,” the official said, adding that the meeting with the prime minister is to “assist him to be able to get to that point.”

Hunter Biden Took HUNDREDS of Trips to Foreign Countries with Secret Service

Judicial Watch received records from the U.S. Secret Service showing that, for the first five and a half years of the Obama administration, Hunter Biden traveled extensively while receiving a Secret Service protective detail. During the time period of the records provided, Hunter Biden, son of then-Vice President Joe Biden, took 411 separate domestic and international flights, including to 29 different foreign countries. He visited China five times.

The records produced with the incomplete response shows that, for the first five and a half years of the Obama administration, Hunter Biden traveled extensively while receiving a Secret Service protective detail. The records show that, between January 31, 2011 and July 8, 2014, Hunter Biden received Secret Service protection for 411 separate domestic and international trips, including to 29 different foreign countries. Facebook cracking down on Antifa, removes nearly 1,000 affiliated groups

Facebook is attempting to illustrate that its content moderation policies apply equally to fringe groups on both ends of the political spectrum

Facebook is stepping up efforts to remove posts on the social media platform by Antifa and others encouraging rioting .

The company has removed 980 groups that have been stoking the flames of chaos and unruly assemblies, as part of a more aggressive effort to ban dangerous post that includes amending its policies to shutout groups that support violent protests.

Facebook has banned 520 Antifa-associated pages and removed 160 ads for the group. The site has also restricted 1,400 hashtags that pertain to the militant leftist group's activities.

“[W]e are expanding our Dangerous Individuals and Organizations policy to address organizations and movements that have demonstrated significant risks to public safety but do not meet the rigorous criteria to be designated as a dangerous organization and banned from having any presence on our platform," Facebook said in a statement.

The tech giant also said it will allow users to post content that supports such movements and groups, so long as they do not otherwise violate Facebook policies but will restrict their ability to organize on our platform.

Beyond just blocking the groups, Facebook is preventing the radical organizations from running ads and monetizing content, in addition to prohibiting nonprofits on the site from soliciting funds on behalf of the orgs.

The company is currently making the case that its content-moderation policies apply in equal fashion to violators on the left and right ends of the political spectrum.

The company's policies have recently led to the deactivation and removal of 790 QAnon groups, restriction of nearly 2,000 QAnon groups, and another 10,000 accounts on Instagram. Thousands of ad pages associated with QAnon have also been wiped from the platform.

Facebook has eliminated the possibility of finding either radical organization with the Facebook search feature, and has been working to modify the hashtag feature on Instagram to prevent the spread of harmful accounts as well.

Estee Lauder To Cut 2,000 Jobs, Close 15% Of Stores Amid Coronavirus-Related Sales Drop

stee Lauder (EL) said on Thursday that it would cut 1,500 to 2,000 jobs as a result of a dip in fiscal 2020 sales due to temporary retail closures during the coronavirus pandemic. The company made the announcement as it released its fiscal 2020 earnings report.

The job cuts are expected to affect about 3% of its workforce globally and will align with closures of 10% to 15% of its freestanding stores that are underperforming.

Estee Lauder said that the layoffs would include temporary and part-time employees by eliminating some positions in areas that were most disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. The company expects to take a $400 million to $500 million charge for the job cuts once implemented and other COVID-19 measures to yield a savings of $300 million to $400 million before taxes.

“Fiscal 2020 was a year without parallel, as we delivered record sales and exceptionally strong adjusted EPS growth in our first half and navigated with agility through an unprecedented pandemic in our second half,” Fabrizio Freda, president and CEO, said in a statement.

For the quarter ending June 30, Estee Lauder reported net sales of $2.43 billion, down 32%, compared to $3.59 billion a year ago. Net loss was $0.46 billion compared to net earnings of $160 million and diluted earning per share of 43 cents in Q4 2019.

Estee Lauder reported net sales of $14.29 billion for fiscal 2020, down 4% from $14.86 billion a year ago. Net sales decreased 3% compared to fiscal 2019, which was driven by retail store closure during the pandemic. However, the company did see an offset by what it called a “tremendous acceleration online.”

Estee Lauder said locations around the globe have reopened, but traffic has been severely reduced. The company said in the Americas, about 20% of stores still were closed at the end of June after shutting their doors temporarily in March.

Grenell Joins RNC, Labels Trump ‘Most Pro-Gay President in US History’

Richard Grenell, who recently left his cabinet post as the acting Director of National Intelligence, will now be working for the Republican National Committee as a senior adviser to focus on LGBT voter outreach, according to a Fox News exclusive.

“As America’s first openly-gay cabinet member, I can confidently say that President Trump has done more for gay and lesbian Americans than any other president, and it is not even close,” Grenell told Fox News.

Just before the announcement, Grenell was featured in a video released Thursday promoting President Trumps as the “most pro-gay President in American history.” In the video, Grenell slams the record of 2020 Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, who “as a United States Senator… said gay people couldn’t receive security clearances because we would be a security risk.”

“Joe must have been terrified when Donald Trump appointed me as acting Director of National Intelligence,” Grenell said in the Log Cabin Republicans’ video. “The fact that I’m gay didn’t even phase Donald Trump. Joe Biden certainly didn’t congratulate the appointment or even acknowledge it, but his silence was defeaning.”

Judge Denies Trump’s Appeal Challenge To Manhattan District Attorney’s Subpoena For Tax Records

U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero sided with the Manhattan District Attorney on Thursday, throwing out an appeal by President Donald Trump against a subpoena for his tax records. Marrero ruled that the president failed to make a compelling case that the subpoena would represent an “unfair burden” against him, CNBC reports.

DA Cy Vance Jr. has been attempting to uncover Trump’s tax records as part of an investigation into his potential breach of state law.

In July, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Trump was not immune to state subpoenas as president. That ruling left open the potential for Trump to appeal the subpoena on different grounds. However, Marrero ruled that tthe claim that the request for Trump’s tax records was an unfair burden and was made in bad faith were essentially an argument for “absolute [presidential] immunity through a back door.”

At a press conference Thursday, Trump called the ruling "a continuation of the most disgusting witch hunt in the history of our country."

Jay Sekulow, Trump’s attorney, said that the president would appeal this latest decision in a higher court.

Vance’s subpoena aims to acquire Trump’s personal and business records from his longtime accounting firm, Mazars USA. This includes his elusive tax returns, going all the way back to 2011.

The exact targets of Vance’s investigation are somewhat vague at this point, with recent filings earlier in the month suggesting that he may be seeking to bring bank and insurance fraud charges. His office is also said to be investigating claims that the Trump campaign, through former lawyer Michael Cohen, paid off porn actress Stormy Daniels in 2016 to keep her quiet about an earlier affair with Trump.

Obama State Department Official Destroyed Records At Christopher Steele's Request

In January 2017, former State Department official Jonathan Winer destroyed several years worth of reports from former UK spy Christopher Steele, at Steele's request, according to the Daily Caller, citing a report released Tuesday.

Winer, a former legislative assistant to former Sen. John Kerry who became the State Department's Special Envoy for Libya when Kerry was Secretary of State - was Steele's contact at the State Department, and received the now-debunked reports claiming that President Trump had been compromised by the Russians.

According to the Senate report, Winer disclosed that he destroyed reports that Steele had sent him over the years. The Senate report also says that Winer failed to reveal when asked in his first interview with the committee that he had arranged the meeting for Steele at the State Department months earlier. -Daily Caller

"After Steele’s memos were published in the press in January 2017, Steele asked Winer to make note of having them, then either destroy all the earlier reports Steele had sent the Department of State or return them to Steele, out of concern that someone would be able to reconstruct his source network," reads the Senate report, which quote sWiner as saying "So I destroyed them, and I basically destroyed all the correspondence I had with him."

In total, Winer had received over 100 intelligence reports from Steel between 2014 and 2016.

Emails that The Daily Caller News Foundation obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit show that Winer shared Steele’s reports with a small group of State Department officials. The Senate report says that the State Department was able to provide the committee with Steele’s reports from 2015 and 2016, though most from 2014 are missing. -Daily Caller

In March, Steele told a UK court that he had "wiped" all of his dossier-linked correspondence in December, 2016 and January, 2017, and had no records of communications with his primary dossier source, Igor Danchenko.

In addition to receiving reports from Steele, Winer gave Steele various anti-Trump memos from Clinton operative Sidney Blumenthal, which originated with Clinton "hatchet man" Cody Shearer. Winer claims he didn't think Steele would share the Clinton-sourced information with anyone else in the government.

“But I learned later that Steele did share them — with the FBI, after the FBI asked him to provide everything he had on allegations relating to Trump, his campaign and Russian interference in U.S. elections,” Winer wrote in a 2018 Op-Ed.

Steele was paid $168,000 by opposition research firm Fusion GPS to produce his anti-Trump dossier, which was funded in part by Hillary Clinton and the DNC, who used law firm Perkins Coie as an intermediary.

The Rich Got Richer During the Pandemic, Bailed Out by the Fed. How it Happened and Why That’s Bad for the Economy

The examples are all over the place. The wealth of Amazon’s Jeff Bezos soared by $74 billion so far this year, according to Bloomberg. Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth jumped by $20 billion so far this year. Elon Musk’s wealth soared by around $50 billion. The wealth of Microsoft founder Bill Gates jumped by $8 billion. Rob Walton, Jim Walton, and Alice Walton, of the Walmart family, saw their combined wealth jump by $14 billion. Chairman and CEO of mutual fund company Fidelity Investments, Abby Johnson, who owns nearly a quarter of the company, saw her wealth soar by $11 billion. The wealth of Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin soared by $7 billion a piece, and Oracle founder Larry Ellison’s by $5 billion.

These are the wealth gains just this year.

Between mid-March and mid-May, during the lockdowns, the wealth of America’s 600-plus billionaires ballooned by $434 billion, according to a report by Americans for Tax Fairness, pushing the wealth of those 600 Americans to a combined $3.4 trillion.

And there is another layer of people who are not billionaires, but have a wealth of $50 million or $200 million, or $600 million, and they saw their enormous wealth balloon too during the pandemic. And there are millions of people of lesser wealth that also rode on their coattails up the boom of the financial markets.

The richest 10% of American households own 84% of the value of stocks owned by all households, according to Federal Reserve data. The remaining 90% of the households own 16% of the value of stocks. And the bottom half own nearly none.

And that boom in the stock market, the bond market, and other financial markets since mid-March happened because the Fed threw about $3 trillion at them in a short time, with the specific purpose of raising asset prices and making those folks whole so that they don’t have any skin in this pandemic.

Fed Chair Jerome Powell was asked directly at the FOMC press conference on July 29 about the Fed’s monetary policies’ effect on wealth inequality.

The funny thing is, Powell denied that the Fed’s monetary policies were responsible for this wholesale bailout of the wealthiest Americans causing an explosion of wealth inequality, but admitted out of the other side of his mouth, that the Fed’s monetary policies have caused asset prices to surge, and that was part of the goal of those purchases.

When Powell admitted that the Fed’s nearly $3 trillion in asset purchases caused asset prices to increase, he said the goal was to “restore functioning markets,” which means markets where prices are rising, and markets where price discovery is not allowed to happen, and markets were investors are spared any losses.

What he admitted was, as he put it: “We understand, accept, and are fine with the fact that those asset purchases are also fostering a more accommodative stance of monetary policy,” in other words, that they inflate asset prices as well as “support macroeconomic outcomes.” “So it’s doing both,” he said, “and we’ve understood that for some time.”

He said that inequality is “a serious economic problem for the United States.” And I agree with him on that. Then he pointed his finger at some of the other guilty parties in that wealth and income inequality, including and specifically “globalization.” And I agree with him on that too.

Hunter Biden to Speak at Final Night of DNC

Hunter Biden, the beleaguered son of Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden, will deliver remarks during Thursday’s edition of the Democrat National Convention (DNC), according to organizers.

Hunter and Ashley Biden will speak about their father in a video ahead of his acceptance of the Democrat White House nomination.

Hunter appeared at the DNC in a brief video clip Tuesday about his deceased brother Beau’s 2015 funeral, which was part of a video teasing his stepmother and former first lady Jill Biden’s speech.

Hunter has become toxic for his father’s presidential run, with President Donald Trump and the GOP questioning his hugely profitable business dealings in Ukraine and China during his father’s tenure as VP during President Barack Obama’s administration. […]

While his then-VP father was in charge of U.S. policy towards Ukraine, Hunter began serving on Burisma’s board of directors despite having no experience in energy matters, prompting allegations that he was using his father’s position for financial gain. […]

Best-selling author Peter Schweizer, the president of the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) and a senior contributor for Breitbart News, has detailed Hunter’s questionable business dealings involving China’s communist government in his books.

President Donald Trump and his re-election campaign have repeatedly targeted Biden and his son’s dealings in Ukraine and China, with the president telling Breitbart News in a recent Oval Office interview that the entire Biden family was “corrupt.”

“Hunter Biden came away with $1.5 billion, of which he gets big fees on. It’s not a possible thing to do,” the president told Breitbart News. “You can’t do that. It doesn’t—nobody has done that. Nobody has done that. China doesn’t do that. But he walked away in ten minutes with one-and-a-half-billion dollars. He gets fees on it. Ukraine, the same thing.”

In March, Hunter’s legal team reached a settlement in a child support case in Arkansas with 28-year-old former stripper Lunden Alexis Roberts after delaying the case and defying several court orders from the Arkansas tribunal.

Bannon Arrested On Chinese Billionaire’s $28 Million Mega Yacht

Steve Bannon was arrested Thursday onboard a yacht owned by a dissident Chinese billionaire who is reportedly the target of a federal investigation over a media venture he formed with the former White House strategist.

According to the Hartford Courtant, Bannon was apprehended while on the “Lady May,” a 150-foot mega yacht worth an estimated $28 million. NBC News reported that the U.S. Postal Inspection Service took Bannon into custody on the yacht while it was in Long Island Sound, near Westbrook, Connecticut.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that Bannon has been on the yacht of Guo Wengei. According to The Journal, federal and state authorities are investigating a media venture formed by Guo and Bannon called GTV Media.

Bannon and a business partner, Brian Kolfage, were indicted along with two others on Thursday for wire fraud and other charges related to a fundraiser to build a private wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. The fund, called “We Build the Wall,” appears unrelated to Guo, who also goes by the names Miles Guo and Miles Kwok.

The U.S. Coast Guard’s maritime information exchange provides a call sign for the “Lady May” that shows the vessel is registered to an entity called Hong Kong International Funds Investments Limited.

The Straits Times reported in 2018 that Hong Kong authorities were investigating Guo for allegedly embezzling $4 billion through multiple shell companies, including Hong Kong International Funds Investments Limited.

The Washington Free Beacon reported in 2017 that Guo owned the Lady May. According to the story, the FBI was investigating a hacking attempt on the yacht’s communications system. BuzzFeed News reported last year that The Free Beacon fired the author of that report, Bill Gertz, because of his undisclosed ties to Guo.
