U.S. Federal Officer Arrested in Border Drug Smuggling Sting

A federal officer is facing bribery charges following an undercover drug smuggling operation where investigators paid him $15,000 to help smuggle 40 kilograms of cocaine through an international port of entry.

On Thursday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the arrest of 46-year-old Oziel Cantu, an officer with U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge.

The case began on June 9, after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General began looking into a CBP officer allegedly helping cartel operators move drugs from Mexico into Texas, the criminal complaint filed against Cantu stated.

Earlier this month, an undercover agent posing as a cartel member contacted Cantu through a messaging app and set two meetings where they planned the smuggling of 40 kilograms of cocaine in exchange for $15,000. The plan called for the person smuggling the drugs to place a red hardhat on the dashboard of his vehicle and Cantu would signal which vehicle lane to drive so the officer could let him pass.

On Wednesday early morning, a second undercover agent drove a vehicle with fake cocaine bricks to the port of entry and followed Cantu’s directions. Hours later, the first undercover agent met with Cantu to pay him. After the money was paid, federal agents arrested Cantu.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Cantu is expected to go before a federal judge on Friday morning for his initial hearing where he will be formally notified of the charges and his bond could be set.

WHO Coronavirus PCR Test Primer Sequence is Found in All Human DNA

This was important enough that I wanted to get it out immediately. My research into the NCBI database for nucleotide sequences has lead to a stunning discovery. One of the WHO primer sequences in the PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 is found in all human DNA!

The sequence “CTCCCTTTGTTGTGTTGT” is an 18-character primer sequence found in the WHO coronavirus PCR testing protocol document. The primer sequences are what get amplified by the PCR process in order to be detected and designated a “positive” test result. It just so happens this exact same 18-character sequence, verbatim, is also found on Homo sapiens chromosome 8! As far as I can tell, this means that the WHO test kits should find a positive result in all humans. Can anyone explain this otherwise?

I really cannot overstate the significance of this finding. At minimum, it should have a notable impact on test results.

Poland snubs West with appointment of foreign minister who accused LGBT community of promoting ZOOPHILIA & CANNIBALISM

'LGBT ideology' is hell-bent on promoting euthanasia, pedophilia, zoophilia and cannibalism, according to Poland's new foreign minister. Gay rights will probably be an awkward topic for small talk during his visits to Brussels.

On Thursday, Zbigniew Rau joined the Polish government as the new head of national diplomacy. The appointment raised quite a few eyebrows in the country, considering that the politician has virtually no background in the diplomatic service. Instead, he has a record of expressing controversial opinions, including denouncements of "LGBT ideology" for promoting an anti-Christian "civilization of death" – both terms being widely used in Polish conservative circles.

Rau infamously outlined his view on LGBT rights last year when he was running for parliament, posting a long rant on his Facebook feed. He said people promoting gay rights were also behind of all kinds of morally objectionable policies and, if given free reign, they would legalize euthanasia of the weak individuals, sex with minors and animals, and the consumption of human flesh.

Law and Justice, the right-wing Christian party he represents, "is the last barrier that protects us and our families from the chaos that the left wants to treat us," the candidate declared. The post triggered a small scandal in Poland since Rau's name was almost at the top of the party electoral list in his home city of Lodz.

Local journalists swiftly demolished Rau's claims. For example, his remark about the legalization of zoophilia was based on a 2016 child abuse case in Canada, in which the Supreme Court dropped bestiality charges against the defendant. The decision simply confirmed at established precedent, which said that only penetrative sex with animals constitutes the crime of bestiality. The way the man on trial abused his stepdaughters didn't involve such specific acts.

Democratic Mayoral Candidate Sabrina Belcher Faked Her Own Kidnapping To Win Votes, Police Say

A Democratic candidate running for mayor in South Carolina was reportedly arrested for allegedly faking her own kidnapping to try to win votes.

Sabrina Belcher was arrested and charged with conspiracy and filing a false police report after police say she filmed herself being kidnapped, beaten up and robbed in a Facebook live video Tuesday, which she orchestrated, according to The State. Police say she did this to get “sympathy” ahead of the election.

After she claimed to have been kidnapped she told police that she was “assaulted and kidnapped by an unknown man during an attempted robbery.” Belcher also said the unknown man broke her car windows.

“They staged a kidnapping and beating in order to garner publicity, sympathy and votes in the November election,” police said. The man Belcher was referencing is reportedly named Christopher James Eaddy. Eaddy was also charged with conspiracy in the case, according to the Sumter Police Department.

“This was simply an effort to create disorder and discontent in our community for personal gain,” Police Chief Russell Roark said in a press release. “As a result, a valuable number of resources, including personnel, man hours of the police department as well as local medical professionals, were wasted based on false information.”

Belcher is in a race with five other candidates in Sumter, South Carolina, and has yet to drop out.

EU Rejects Post-Brexit Deal on Returning Illegals, Trade Talks Deadlocked

European Union negotiators have reportedly rejected a British offer of a bilateral pact to return illegal migrants, while a seventh round of Brexit trade negotiations has again ended in deadlock.

Under the EU’s Dublin III regulations, migrants can be returned to the EU member-state where an asylum claim was first made. This covers some of the migrants currently crossing the English Channel from France in small boats, but once the United Kingdom leaves the EU’s institutions at the end of the present transition period on December 31st, 2020, that arrangement comes to an end — meaning that there may be no structure to return the thousands of illegals who have left French shores for Britain.

Sources speaking to left-wing Guardian on Thursday said that Brussels negotiators have rejected the offer of bilateral arrangements outside of the bloc, the report coming amidst rising tensions between London and Paris over France’s failure to stop around 5,000 illegals from crossing the English Channel since January.

A Home Office spokesman responded to the report, saying: “The Dublin III regulation is inflexible, rigid and is abused by both migrants and activist lawyers to frustrate the returns of those who have no right to be here. Whilst we are bound by Dublin for the duration of the transition period, the UK will be able to negotiate its own bilateral returns arrangements from the end of this year.”

French MP for Calais Pierre-Henri Dumont attempted to blame the British for a drowning death in the Channel this week, claiming that the British government should make it possible for asylum seekers to lodge a refugee application from outside of the country.

It is unlikely this would have helped the drowned man, however, as according to relatives the French had themselves already rejected an asylum claim by him in their country as illegitimate.

The French have been caught on numerous occasions escorting migrant boats into British territorial waters, where they often coordinate with UK Border Force in the handing over of the illegals.

Meanwhile, the latest round of negotiations between the UK’s David Frost and the EU’s Michel Barnier has ended without a deal.

Speaking on Friday morning, Mr Barnier said that it “seemed unlikely” that the two sides would strike a trade deal by October, which the bloc has said is its final deadline in order to have the agreement ratified by the European Parliament before the end of the transition period.

The United Kingdom officially left the European Union on January 31st, 2020, but is in a transition period until the end of the year. During this time, the country remains subject to the EU’s institutions and rules, including the Customs Union, Single Market, and associated free movement migration regime.

If London cannot agree on the continuity of some arrangements with Brussels by the autumn, the United Kingdom will trade with the bloc on World Trade Organization (WTO) rules.

Political action committees aligned with Senate Minority LeaderChuck Schumer and Emily’s List,a pro-choice group, paid a dark money group $5.3 million in a failed bid to shape the results of the Kansas Republican Senate primary, according to campaign finance records released Thursday night.

A mysterious super PAC called Sunflower State popped up in June and began a relentless media campaign in Kansas aimed at portraying Republican Rep. Roger Marshall as insufficiently conservative compared to his opponent, former Kansas Sec. of State Kris Kobach.

Democrats apparently saw an easier path to victory in November against Kobach, who lost the 2018 race for governor to Laura Kelly, a Democrat. Sunflower State’s effort failed, as Marshall won a decisive victory over Kobach in the state’s primary on Aug. 4.

Sunflower State’s funders remained a mystery until Thursday, when the group filed its finance records with the Federal Election Committee.

The records show that the Senate Majority PAC gave $3,550,000 to Sunflower State, and Women Vote! provided another $1,750,000 in funding.

Senate Majority PAC, founded in 2010, is closely aligned with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Its goal in elections matches its name: to win a Democratic majority in the 100-seat Senate.

The group has hoped to pick up the seat in Kansas, which is being vacated by Sen. Pat Roberts, a Republican.

Several prominent politicians in the Republic of Ireland were caught at a party a day after the Irish government announced large gatherings would be banned, prompting resignations and a police investigation.

On Tuesday, Ireland’s government tightened social distancing rules, including imposing a limit of six people for indoor gatherings — a reduction from 50.

However, on Tuesday, the Irish parliament’s golf society hosted an event at a hotel in County Galway, attended by 81 people, including several high-profile Irish figures. Those included Agriculture Minister Dara Calleary, Senator Jerry Buttimer, MP Noel Grealish, and Supreme Court judge Séamus Woulfe.

The European Union’s European Commissioner for Trade Phil Hogan, an Irishman, also attended the event, according to the BBC.

Calleary later resigned as minister, and Buttimer resigned as deputy chairman of the Senate on Friday. The police are now investigating the event for breaches of coronavirus laws.

Members of the opposition have called for resignations of those who had broken lockdown rules. Sources speaking to broadcaster RTÉ said that while it is up to the government to deal with rule-breakers within their ranks, it would be “political interference” to discipline the country’s former attorney general, Supreme Court Judge Woulfe. They added that it was up to Brussels to handle its commissioner, Hogan.

The European Commission claimed Mr Hogan had attended the event in his home country in “good faith” that it followed lockdown rules. Mr Hogan said that he had been in the country since late July, which suggests that he should have been fully aware of Ireland’s laws.

Ireland’s deputy prime minister Leo Varadkar said that while restrictions have been difficult on people, “as representatives, we should lead by example”.

As the leader of the Fine Gael party, Varadkar continued: “In recognition of the seriousness of this matter, I have removed the party whip from Senators Jerry Buttimer, Paddy Burke, and John Cummins.”

Report: Facebook Introducing a ‘Virality Circuit Breaker’ to Prevent Spread of Viral Content

According to a recent report from the Interface newsletter by Verge reporter Casey Newton, Facebook is piloting a new program that will monitor viral posts that gain millions of views to ensure that they don’t violate community standards.

The Verge reporter Casey Newton reports in the newsletter the Interface that social media giant Facebook is developing a new program to fight viral misinformation on the platform. In the newsletter, Newton lists suggestions made by the Center for American Progress (CAP) to prevent the spread of certain content on the platform.

Newton writes:

Still, tech platforms probably have more tools to manage the spread of misinformation than they’re using today. In its report “Fighting Coronavirus Misinformation and Disinformation,” the Center for American Progress lays out a trio of suggestions for doing just that. They are:

Virality circuit breakers. Platforms should detect, label, suspend algorithmic amplification, and prioritize rapid review and fact-checking of trending coronavirus content that displays reliable misinformation markers, which can be drawn from the existing body of coronavirus mis/disinformation.

Scan-and-suggest features. Platforms should develop privacy-sensitive features to scan draft posts, detect drafts discussing the coronavirus, and suggest quality information to users or provide them cues about being thoughtful or aware of trending mis/disinformation prior to publication.

Subject matter context additions. Social media platforms should embed quality information and relevant fact checks around posts on coronavirus topics. Providing in-post context by default can help equip users with the information they need to interpret the post content for themselves.

Newton further states that Facebook said late on Thursday that it is already piloting a program that resembles the “Virality circuit breakers” suggestion from CAP.

In a recent article by the New York Times, it was reported that Facebook is also working on ap political advertising “kill switch” to be activated if President Trump questions the legitimacy of presidential election results in November.

Report: California Gov. Gavin Newsom didn't take pay cut as promised — despite cutting state workers' salaries by 10%

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom was in hot water Thursday after it was discovered that he had not taken a pay cut as promised, despite asking state workers to take a reduced salary to aid the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

In May, Newsom proposed a 10% pay cut for state workers to help fill the state's $54 billion budget deficit amid coronavirus shutdowns. In a show of solidarity, he voluntarily pledged to join the state's 96,000-member workforce in reducing his salary.

But, according to a report Thursday from the Sacramento Bee, that has not happened.

In July, the governor continued drawing his regular monthly salary of $17,479, as shown by pay data recorded by the State Controller's Office.

A spokesman for the governor's office called it an "oversight."

The outlet added that of the state's eight elected constitutional officers — which includes the treasurer, secretary of state and attorney general — only one, State Controller Betty Yee, took the pay cut last month.

After the Sacramento Bee began asking questions Wednesday, Newsom reportedly sent a letter to Yee asking her to reduce his pay retroactively to the beginning of July, when pay cuts kicked in for the rest of the government workforce.

Amazingly, Yvonne Walker, the president of SEIU Local 1000, the state's largest union, refrained from criticizing the governor Thursday. She essentially suggested that perhaps he and his office were too busy.

"If there's one thing we know, it's that our governor keeps his word," Walker said in an emailed statement. "We can only imagine that with all the things going on in our state … it wouldn't be surprising if processing the necessary paperwork has taken a backseat to more pressing matters."

It is certainly not the first time that Newsom has faced scrutiny for not living under the same standards that his office has implemented since the start of the pandemic.

KOVR-TV reported in July that PlumpJack, a Northern California-based winery and hospitality company founded and part-owned by Newsom, had continued operations months after the governor ordered all essential businesses closed in March.

PlumpJack also raised eyebrows for reportedly receiving a loan worth $150,000 to $350,000 from the Paycheck Protection Program.

1. Why is the specific 2-digit number “digraph” supposedly secret, and why is the “type of source” omitted form the criminal information? So when the DOJ (now run by the Special Counsel) signed the Carter Page FISA renewal [June 29, 2017], we know without question that the FBI deputy who reported directly to the FBIs’ General Counsel (Jim Baker), who reported directly to FBA Director (Andy McCabe), that deputy (Trisha Anderson) knew that Carte Page was at least a CIA subsource.

This thing reeks of another institutional preservation approach. What I suspect is that Barr does not want to touch any material that contacts the Weissmann/Mueller special counsel… however, what took place under the Weissmann/Mueller special counsel is actually more corrupt than any activity that preceded it.

What I also strongly suspect is that Bill Barr is using his oft stated “I will not allow the DOJ to be political” as a crutch in his preservation approach. If nothing from the world or sphere of politics is allowed to enter the world or sphere of the DOJ then what is supposed to happen with all those years of congressional evidence gathering?

If my suspicions are correct; and keep in mind I have made first hand contact with the Durham investigators to confirm their intense alignment with Barr’s directive; then nothing from any embargoed political silo will ever be prosecuted regardless of how it percolates out.

If you read all the material you will see there is clearly no arrangement for Kevin Clinesmith to have provided any other evidence to the DOJ. This is a one-and-done move just like James Wolfe. The parallels are very similar.

New Zealand man, 33, who hugged a quarantining friend is JAILED for six weeks for breaking strict coronavirus rules

A painter has been jailed in New Zealand after he broke lockdown rules by entering a coronavirus quarantine facility and hugging a friend who was isolating.

Jesse Courtney Welsh, 33, from Morningside, Auckland, received a six week prison sentence after hugging a friend who was isolating after returning home from Australia, according to the New Zealand Herald.

Welsh appeared at Whangārei District Court yesterday after previously pleading guilty to being unlawfully in an enclosed yard.

He also faced charges of careless driving and failing to stop.

Police withdrew the charge for failing to comply with a Covid-19 order because it had been wrongly laid.

Sentencing judge Keith de Ridder said: 'This was not an example of people under severe stress because of a family death or some other reason. You knew full well about the quarantine rules and was not just content with talking to him, but hugged him as well.'

Judge de Ridder also said that Welsh had been out celebrating with friends in Auckland on August 7 before going to visit his friend at the Crowne Plaza hotel, who had arrived back in New Zealand on July 29.

When police spotted Welsh talking with his friend at the hotel he refused to engage with them and then drove off.

He was arrested the next day in Whangārei.

John Day, the lawyer representing Welsh, said that his client fully accepted responsibility for his actions.

He also said: 'His own words to me were 'it was a real dumb thing to do.'

Welsh was also sentenced to a concurrent six week jail term on the charge of failing to stop and he was convicted and discharged for careless driving.

Welsh is now isolating and has had three coronavirus tests, all of which have returned negative.

Army Asks for Help in a Search for Another Missing Fort Hood Soldier

FORT HOOD, Texas — The U.S. Army is asking for the public’s help in a search for another missing soldier in Texas.

Fort Hood officials issued a missing soldier alert Thursday night for Sgt. Elder Fernandes, 23. Police in nearby Killeen said Fernandes was reported missing Wednesday and was last seen or heard from Monday afternoon when his staff sergeant dropped Fernandes off at his home in Killeen.

A police statement described Fernandes as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 133 pounds (60.33 kilograms) and was last seen wearing black Army physical training shorts and T-shirt with red athletic shoes.

Fernandes is a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear specialist with the 1st Cavalry Division Sustainment Brigade at the Central Texas Army installation. The missing soldier alert said the Army's main concern was "to ensure his safety and wellbeing.

The disappearance came a year after the disappearance of Pfc. Gregory Morales, 24, a Fort Hood soldier who was reported missing on Aug. 20, 2019. His remains were found June 21 in a field in Killeen, just over 10 miles (16 kilometers) from Stillhouse Hollow Lake. Killeen police are still investigating his death.

Then on July 1, Army officials found human remains subsequently identified as those Pfc. Vanessa Guillén, 20, a Fort Hood soldier who had been missing since April. Her remains were found near the Leon River in Bell County, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of Fort Hood. Spc. Aaron Robinson, 20, of Calumet City, Illinois, killed and dismembered Guillén and had the remains disposed of in nearby woods, federal and state investigators said.

Robinson killed himself July 1, the day Guillén’s remains were found, officials said. Cecily Aguilar, 22, of Killeen, has been accused of disposing of Guillén's remains for Robinson and has been charged with three federal conspiracy counts related to the soldier's death. She has pleaded not guilty.

Army leaders have delayed the planned transfer of Maj. Gen. Scott Efflandt, the Fort Hood commander, to a more prestigious assignment at Fort Bliss, Texas, while a team of independent investigators determines if leadership failures contributed to the deaths and disappearances. Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy has commented that Fort Hood has one of the highest rates of murder, sexual assault and harassment in the Army.

Israel’s largest arms manufacturer targeted in London by Palestine Action activists

Palestine Action activists, a direct action group opposed to Israel’s brutal occupation, targeted the London sites of its biggest arms company, Elbit Systems, in protest over the company’s alleged role in the “destruction, oppression and murder of indigenous people across the world.”

Activists covered three of the sites in red paint, in what seems to be an attempt to symbolise its alleged role in the spilling of Palestinian blood, with messages calling on the landlord to shut down Elbit’s operation in the UK.

The Israeli arms manufacturer has ten bases across Britain, including four arms factories which produce parts for drones used in Israel’s brutal occupation of Palestine.

Elbit has been targeted for direct action several times by groups around Britain after its boasts at arms fairs that its weapons are battle-tested in Gaza, which has a largely civilian population. Thousands of innocent Palestinian men, women and children have been killed in Israel’s military offensives.

The sites targeted by activists from Palestine Action include Elbit Systems HQ office in central London, as well as their landlord’s HQ offices, LaSalle Asset Management in Mayfair. Elbit’s factory, Elbit-Instro, was also targeted in Kent.

Trump: US Troops in Iraq Will Return Home Soon

Says US will be 'leaving shortly'

In comments to reporters on the Iraq War on Thursday, President Trump revealed that his intention is to withdraw substantial numbers of US troops from the country as soon as possible, saying that the US will be “leaving shortly.“

Trump said he never liked the Iraq War, and that “they have to run their country.” That doesn’t mean a full pullout is likely in short order, however, despite that being how some reporters are taking the comments.

Rather, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo wants the lowest level of US troops “as quickly as they can,” and this seems, like Afghanistan, to be an effort to cut troops to a very low level while maintaining a small presence, at least for now.

It is worth noting Trump’s comments coincide with the Iraqi PM’s visit, and may suggest wiggle room on Iraq’s demand for a pullout, which Trump had previously objected to.

GOP leader: 'There is no place for QAnon in the Republican Party'

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has denounced the QAnon conspiracy theory, becoming the highest-ranking congressional Republican to publicly condemn the theory.

McCarthy said during an interview on Fox News on Thursday evening that “there is no place” in the GOP for the theory, which posits that President Trump and his allies are working to expose an elite group of Democrats, media figures and celebrities who are running an international child trafficking ring.

The unfounded theory drew broader attention after Marjorie Taylor Greene won the GOP primary for Georgia’s 14th District last week. Greene previously embraced the theory in YouTube videos but has since attempted to distance herself from it, saying it no longer represents her views.

“Let me be very clear," McCarthy told Fox News. "There is no place for QAnon in the Republican Party. I do not support it and the candidate you talked about has denounced it."

Vice President Pence also dismissed QAnon on Friday, telling "CBS This Morning" that he doesn't "know anything about that conspiracy theory," adding when pressed: "I dismiss it out of hand."

Later on CNN, Pence disputed the idea that Trump had seemingly embraced the theory when he told reporters Wednesday that those who subscribe to the theory "love our country." Trump had said he wasn't very familiar with the theory.

“You said the president seemed to embrace it. I didn’t hear that,” Pence told CNN’s John Berman on “New Day.” “I heard the president talk about he appreciates people that support him.”

In addition to her remarks on QAnon, Greene came under fire after videos emerged of her making bigoted comments and questioning whether a plane crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11, remarks she later walked back.

A number of GOP lawmakers have expressed concerns that Greene’s comments and association with QAnon could stain the party’s image and potentially have a negative effect on vulnerable members’ races this year.

McCarthy emphasized Thursday that Greene has distanced herself from the QAnon theory and deserves a chance to prove herself once elected to the deep-red district.

“I've had discussions with Marjorie Greene, she won that primary, and she recently came out and denounced the Q organization, whatever beliefs. I do not agree with their beliefs at all, and she denounced those,” he said during an appearance on C-SPAN on Wednesday.

Voter Fraud: Man Arrested in L.A. for Voting 3 Times as His Dead Mother

A man from Norwalk, California, in Los Angeles County was arrested and charged last month for voting three times as his dead mother, as well as voting for himself, the Los Angeles District Attorney announced in a statement on Tuesday.

The DA’s office said:

A Norwalk man has been charged with allegedly casting votes in three elections on behalf of his mother who had passed away, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Caesar Peter Abutin (dob 11/2/64) was charged in case BA488819 with one felony count each of fraud in connection with votes cast and fraudulent voting. He pleaded not guilty today and is scheduled to return for a preliminary hearing setting on October 28 in Department 50 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

The case was filed for warrant on July 31.

Deputy District Attorney Marian Thompson of the Public Integrity Division is prosecuting the case.

Between October 2012 and November 2014, Abutin is accused of voting in three elections, claiming to be his 67-year-old mother who passed away in July 2006, while also casting votes for himself.

The charges were announced, coincidentally, in the midst of the Democratic National Convention, as Democrats accused President Donald Trump of exaggerating the potential for voter fraud in his push against automatic vote-by-mail.

IDF carries out three waves of airstrikes as 12 rockets launched from Gaza

Major uptick in violence in the south overnight comes after 42 incendiary balloons ignite fires.

The IDF struck targets belonging to Hamas in the Gaza Strip during three rounds of airstrikes as 12 rockets were fired towards southern Israel from the coastal enclave on Thursday night.

Of the 12 projectiles fired from the Strip, 9 were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system and others landed in open fields or within Gaza.

Emergency services said three people were treated for shock after an unexploded rocket fell on a house in Sderot and two others were injured while running for safety following the sirens.

A house in the college town of Sderot was also severely damaged by Iron Dome rocket interceptor fragments which landed on it, destroying windows and blasting large house in the walls.

In response to the rocket fire, Israeli military said that Israeli Airforce jets and helicopters struck sites belonging to Hamas in three waves, including underground facilities, a rocket-building site, and a cement facility used to provide materials to build tunnels used by the group.

According to Palestinian media, at least one person was injured in the strikes targeting the sites east of Khan Younis.

“The IDF takes all terror activity against Israeli territory very seriously and is prepared and ready to act as much as necessary against attempts to harm Israeli citizens and their sovereignty,” the military said in a statement, adding that “we hold Hamas responsible for all terror activity emanating from Gaza.”

President Reuven Rivlin commented on Friday morning on the rocket fire saying that "Israelis living in the area around Gaza had another tough night, including serious damage to property. This morning, too, we are with them and full of appreciation for their resilience.

New Jersey Election Invalidated Because of Mail-In Voter Fraud

A New Jersey election has been invalidated by a judge, and a new election has been ordered to be held, due to rampant mail-in voter fraud.

On Wednesday, State Superior Court Judge Ernest Caposela ruled that the election for a Paterson City Council seat had been irreversibly tainted. A new election has been ordered to take place in November.

The mayor of Paterson praised the ruling. “It was the right ruling,” Mayor Andre Sayegh told CNN. “That past election was fraught with fraud.”

Four people were charged with criminal conduct in connection to the fraudulent election, including a Paterson councilman and the councilman-elect.

Michael Jackson, 48, of Paterson—1st Ward Councilman and Council Vice President, was charged with Fraud in Casting Mail-In Vote (3rd Degree), Unauthorized Possession of Ballots (3rd Degree), Tampering with Public Records (3rd Degree), and Falsifying or Tampering with Records (4th Degree).

Alex Mendez, 45, of Paterson—3rd Ward Councilman-Elect, was charged with Election Fraud (2nd Degree), Fraud in Casting Mail-In Vote (3rd Degree), Unauthorized Possession of Ballots (3rd Degree), False Registration or Transfer (Third-Degree), Tampering with Public Records (3rd Degree), and Falsifying or Tampering with Records (4th Degree).

Shelim Khalique, 51, of Wayne, N.J., was charged with Fraud in Casting Mail-In Vote (3rd Degree), Unauthorized Possession of Ballots (3rd Degree), Tampering with Public Records (3rd Degree), and Falsifying or Tampering with Records (4th Degree).

Abu Razyen, 21, of Prospect Park, N.J., was charged with Fraud in Casting Mail-In Vote (3rd Degree) and Unauthorized Possession of Ballots (3rd Degree).

President Trump and the Republican Party have repeatedly warned about the dangers of universal mail-in voting, and this ruling gives them more evidence that on a national level, mail-in voting for the presidential election would be a disaster. U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr also sounded the alarm about mail-in voting.

“It absolutely opens the floodgates to fraud. Those things are delivered into mailboxes. They can be taken out,” Barr told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo back in June. “There’s questions about whether or not it even denies a secret ballot, because a lot of the states have you signing the outside of the envelope. So, the person who opens the envelope will know how people voted.”

“There’s no – right now, a foreign country could print up tens of thousands of counterfeit ballots, and [it would] be very hard for us to detect which was the right and which was the wrong ballot,” Barr continued. “So, I think it can upset and undercut the confidence in the integrity of our elections. If anything, we should tighten them up right now.”

If you watched the Democratic National Convention, over the course of four days you heard Democrats go all-in on the conspiracy theory that President Trump is trying to undermine the 2020 election by dismantling the postal service, as well as repeat the lie that mail-in voting is no different than absentee voting.

Jeff Wilke, Longtime Amazon Executive And Bezos Confidant, Announces Retirement

Jeff Wilke, CEO of worldwide consumer for Amazon and a longtime confidant of founder Jeff Bezos, announced on Friday that he would be retiring from the company in the first quarter of 2021. Wilke, 52, joined the company in 1999 to handle global operations and rose to a prominent place in the e-commerce giant over the decades. Some had considered him a potential successor to Bezos if the CEO ever decided to step down.

In a staff-wide memo titled “Hanging up the flannel,” Wilke explained his motivation for taking an early retirement, right after seeing the company through the next holiday shopping season.

“Why leave? It’s just time. Time for me to take time to explore personal interests that have taken a back seat for over two decades,” Wilke wrote, also stating that currently has no intention of accepting another job after departing Amazon.

Wilke is set to be succeeded by Dave Clark, Amazon’s senior vice president of retail operations.

“Since Jeff joined the company, I have been lucky enough to have him as my tutor,” Bezos said about his longtime colleague. “Jeff’s legacy and impact will live on long after he departs. He is simply one of those people without whom Amazon would be completely unrecognizable.”

Wilke had been a part of Bezos’s S-Team, a close group of senior officials who report directly to Bezos and oversee major aspects of Amazon’s business, like advertising, cloud computing, operations, and retail. With Wilke departing, Amazon on Friday announced three new S-Team additions: Alicia Boler Davis, vice president of global customer fulfillment; John Felton, vice president of global delivery services; and Dave Treadwell, vice president of Amazon’s eCommerce Foundation.
