Watch: Democrat Steve Bullock Pitches Chinese Investors to ‘Sell Out Montana’

In a mysterious video, Bullock sings the state's praises to Chinese investors. It appears connected to the EB-5 visa program, though his campaign denies it.

‘When you invest in Montana, you have the full support of the state,” Governor Steve Bullock says at the conclusion of a video soliciting Chinese investment in the Treasure State.

The circumstances surrounding the video, which was recently provided to National Review, remain unclear. Though Bullock’s gubernatorial office claims it was made to be presented to a 2015 trade delegation of Chinese companies considering purchasing Montana’s exports, his spokeswoman was unable to provide any documentation proving that was the case.

National Review was, however, able to locate a copy of the video on Ixigua, a Chinese platform that resembles YouTube. The video on Ixigua carries a caption that suggests the video is part of an effort to solicit investment in Montana through the EB-5 visa program, which promises wealthy foreign nationals permanent residency in the U.S. in exchange for a minimum $500,000 investment in an American development project that’s been sponsored by a “regional center” — a legal entity approved by the U.S. Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS). “The Governor of Montana kindly invites you to participate in this ‘free schedule’ EB-5 project,” the caption says.

Bullock’s office says the video was never used to solicit EB-5 investment in Montana. But it appears to have been uploaded to Ixigua in July 2017 by a firm called “Zhaolong Immigration,” which advertises itself as “an immigration agency specializing in providing overseas investment immigration and overseas real estate immigration services.” And the description that accompanies the upload reads:

In July, Zhaolong released the Big Sky luxury hotel EB-5 project in Big Sky Montana, USA. The project is adjacent to Yellowstone National Park and the top clubhouse, the Yellowstone Club. ‘Visa Reservation’ Places, to avoid the long waiting period, get the green card early to repay [sic].

Pitched as a way to bring jobs to struggling rural areas, the EB-5 program has predominantly been utilized by developers in major cities since its inception as part of the Immigration Act of 1990. The program has faced bipartisan criticism, most notably from Senators Dianne Feinstein of California and Chuck Grassley of Iowa, both for failing to deliver capital and jobs to rural areas as promised and for facilitating rampant immigration and financial fraud.

Bullock, who is currently running for the Senate against incumbent Republican Steve Daines, has not discussed the EB-5 program at length in public, but he did suggest expanding the pool of foreign nationals eligible to participate during his failed 2020 presidential run. As part of his “A Fair Shot for Rural America” platform, Bullock proposed lowering the minimum investment threshold for participation in the program from $500,000 to $350,000 in cases where the money flowed to specially designated areas with high unemployment, and the investors agreed to live in those areas for ten years.

When reached for comment, Bullock’s campaign presented the proposal as a reform designed to reorient the “flawed” program to its original stated purpose: directing capital to struggling rural areas.

More Evidence That Trump’s Silent Majority Is Real

When President Trump insisted last month that his supporters included a substantial silent majority that isn’t represented in the polls, the Democrats and the corporate media devoted a surprisingly large amount of energy to “debunking” the claim. Indeed, their reaction was so shrill and ubiquitous that they seemed, to paraphrase Hamlet’s hapless mother, to be protesting too much. A new poll released Wednesday by the Cato Institute suggests a reason for this frantic reaction to Trump’s assertion. The survey of 2,000 Americans 18 years of age and older unambiguously indicates that the reluctance of moderates and conservatives to share their political views has increased significantly since 2017.

According to the poll, conducted on Cato’s behalf by YouGov, “The share of moderates who self‐censor increased 7 points from 57% to 64%, and the share of conservatives rose from 70% to 77%, also a 7‐point increase.” Perhaps more significantly, strong liberals constituted the only ideological cohort that indicated more freedom to express their political opinions. Only 42 percent indicate that they self-censor. A majority of committed liberals (58 percent) feel free to say what they think. This is why those with left-leaning political views seem to dominate the political discourse. They are doing most of the talking while moderates and conservatives keep their own counsel and wait patiently for Election Day.

Many Democrats mistakenly believe this illusory dominance of the public debate means they have won the hearts and minds of the electorate.

>>10378132 UST IN: Tennessee governor signs bill that would punish some protesters with loss of voting rights

Tennessee governor signs bill increasing punishments for certain protests

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R) quietly signed a bill into law ramping up punishments for certain kinds of protests, including losing the right to vote.

The GOP-controlled state General Assembly passed the measure last week during a three-day special legislative session and was signed without an announcement earlier this week.

Among other things, the new law stipulates that people who illegally camp on state property will face a Class E felony, punishable by up to six years in prison. People found guilty of a felony in Tennessee lose the right to vote.

The new law also slaps a mandatory 45-day sentence for aggravated rioting, boosts the fine for blocking highway access to emergency vehicles and enhances the punishment for aggravated assault against a first responder to a Class C felony.

The leader of the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee told The Associated Press, which was the first to report on the signing of the bill, that it would be observing enforcement of the law.

Vermont GOP governor says he won't vote for Trump

“We are very disappointed in Governor Lee’s decision to sign this bill, which chills free speech, undermines criminal justice reform and fails to address the very issues of racial justice and police violence raised by the protesters who are being targeted,” ACLU of Tennessee Executive Director Hedy Weinberg said in a statement. “While the governor often speaks about sentencing reform, this bill contradicts those words and wastes valuable taxpayer funds to severely criminalize dissent.”

The bill passed the General Assembly after almost two months of sustained protests outside the state Capitol, where demonstrators have been calling for racial justice reforms in the aftermath of George Floyd’s killing by Minneapolis police in May.

Lee and state Republicans have defended the legislation, pointing to fires that were set inside and outside a courthouse in May, though Lee has acknowledged there were portions of the bill he “would have done differently.”

>>10378233 John Durham investigators interview (((John Brennan))) for 8 hours at CIA headquarters

NOTABLE

WASHINGTON — Former CIA Director John Brennan was interviewed Friday by U.S. Attorney John Durham’s team as part of its inquiry into the investigators and intelligence officials behind the 2016 Russia election interference probe.

The interview took place at CIA headquarters and lasted for eight hours, said Nick Shapiro, Brennan’s former deputy chief of staff and senior adviser.

“Brennan was informed by Mr. Durham that he is not a subject or a target of a criminal investigation and that he is only a witness to events that are under review,” Shapiro said in a statement.

Brennan led the CIA under the Obama administration as it and other intelligence agencies arrived at the conclusion that Russia had interfered in the 2016 election to benefit Donald Trump. Durham’s interest in speaking with him underscores the extent to which he and his team are examining how the CIA reached that assessment, which Trump has long resisted.

Brennan appeared voluntarily for the interview and has previously said he welcomed the chance to be questioned and felt he had nothing to hide.

“And so I look forward to the day when the truth is going to come out and the individuals who have mischaracterized what has happened in the past will be shown to have deceived the American people,” Brennan said in a May interview on MSNBC.

During the interview, Brennan offered details on the efforts made by the intelligence community to “understand and disrupt” Russia’s efforts to interfere in the election and answered questions related to a “wide range of intelligence activities” undertaken by the CIA in the run-up to November 2016, Shapiro said.

A spokesman for Durham declined to comment Friday.

Attorney General William Barr last year appointed Durham, the U.S. attorney for Connecticut, to examine the decisions that were made by government officials as they investigated ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Exhaustive reports by former special counsel Robert Mueller and the Republican-led Senate intelligence committee have detailed extensive ties between Russians and Trump associates, but Barr has challenged the idea that the FBI had sufficient basis to open its counterintelligence investigation and gave Durham a mandate that allows him to look into the actions of other agencies too.

Brennan questioned why the CIA’s findings and tradecraft are now being scrutinized by the Justice Department given that the Mueller report and the bipartisan Senate report validated the conclusions of Russian interference, Shapiro said.

“Brennan also told Mr. Durham that the repeated efforts of Donald Trump and William Barr to politicize Mr. Durham’s work have been appalling and have tarnished the independence and integrity of the Department of Justice, making it very difficult for Department of Justice professionals to carry out their responsibilities,” according to Shapiro’s statement.

Brennan, who has emerged as a vocal critic of Trump, testified before Congress in 2017 that he had personally warned Russia against interfering in the election and that he was so concerned about Russia’s contacts with people involved in Trump’s campaign that he convened top counterintelligence officials to focus on the issue.

He told the House intelligence committee at that hearing that it “should be clear to everyone that Russia brazenly interfered in our 2016 present election process,” though he said he didn’t have enough information to know whether it was colluding with the campaign.

“But,” he said, “I know there was a basis to have individuals pull those threads.”

Mueller’s investigation found that the Trump campaign embraced Russia’s help and expected to benefit from it, though he did not allege a criminal conspiracy between the two.

Durham brought his first criminal charge last week against a former FBI lawyer accused of altering an email related to the secret surveillance of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. The attorney, Kevin Clinesmith, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a false statement charge.

>>10378220 HUGE INSIDER INFO: “Obama Can’t Stand Biden. He Thinks He’s a Joke… Obama’s Crew Thinks Biden Is a Damn Fool”

NOTABLE

Former policeman and Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino discussed former Obama Vice President Joe Biden and this past week’s DNC on his successful podcast. This past week Bongino disclosed some insider information on the relationship between Obama and Biden.

Dan Bongino, the brash and bright FOX News analyst, released some (insider) information this past week on his podcast related to the relationship between former President Barack Obama and his Vice President Joe Biden. Bongino shares at the 6:15 mark in the video below:

Let me tell you a little secret. Obama can’t stand Biden. I’m not going to tell you how I know that or why because I don’t want to be a tattletale. Obama can’t stand Biden. He thinks he’s a joke. It’s not personal. He doesn’t think he’s a malicious or horrible guy, he thinks he’s a moron. So does his staff. So does the Obama for America alumni network. They think Biden, Obama’s crew thinks Biden is a damn fool. Folks I’m telling you to take that check to the bank and cash it. That is a fact.

I keep a large network of friends. Some of them I remember from a prior line of work. I’m not talking about law enforcement people either. I’m talking about some people I know who are marginally involved in politics. Who are basically involved for the money, not so much the ideology, so they’re happy to talk. The Obama team thinks Biden is an idiot. Hence in his (Obama’s) speech last night, why Obama in 15 minutes barely mentioned Biden.
