DeJoy says a dozen mail sorting machines were removed in Wisconsin

U.S. Postmaster General Loius DeJoy says his office won’t be reinstalling 12 mail sorting machines that were removed in Wisconsin.

During a Senate hearing Friday before a committee chaired by Wisconsin Republican Ron Johnson, Dejoy said the machines will not be returned to service, despite comments earlier this week that he’d be putting a stop to controversial changes at the Postal Service.

The Washington Post reports that of over 600 sorting machines removed nationwide, 6 were in Milwaukee, 3 in Madison, 2 in Green Bay and one was in Wausau. Also Friday, Johnson claimed that recent complaints about mail delays were “being ginned up . . . to extract a political advantage.”

Contact Tracer

Manitowoc County

This position works in the Health Department and is responsible for making telephone contact with individuals who have been identified as a close contact of a person who has a confirmed case of COVID. The contact tracer will ask a prescribed set of questions and will document the response in Wisconsin Electronic Surveillance System. The contract tracer will also provide scripted guidance and resources recommended by the State of Wisconsin and CDC. Confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

Specific responsibilities include:

Using scripted phone questionnaire, does the initial phone interview with close contacts and performs daily check-in calls;

Follows scripted information to inform contacts of the importance of isolation and quarantine and what to do if symptoms develop

Provides information on available resources and services

Completes timely and accurate documentation in the Wisconsin Electronic Surveillance System and other data bases

A high school diploma and whatever other combination of education and work experience provides the knowlege, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position
