I've had the same car for the last 20 years, too. Change the oil more often than necessary, about every 3,000 miles, but aside from brakes and tires, I can't remember ever having to do anything big to it. Spark plugs needed changing once, that's about all.
Then you consider the amount of money I'd have spent getting my car "serviced" 2x/year for the last 20 years and there's my new car right there.
