Michigan appeals court backs Whitmer's use of emergency powers amid coronavirus pandemic

A Michigan appeals court on Friday ruled in favor of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, finding that her emergency declarations and orders in response to the coronavirus were legal.
Whitmer implemented strict lockdown measures during the crisis, and has since extended the state of emergency to keep gyms and movie theaters closed. Masks are required in many parts of the state.
Republicans in the state’s Legislature argued that she had overstepped her authority, and can unilaterally extend emergencies only if they are local, not statewide, under the 1945 Emergency Powers of the Governor Act (EPGA). They said a separate 1976 law means statewide emergencies need the Legislature’s approval after 28 days.
The appeals court, in a 2-1 decision, however, upheld a lower court's ruling that the moves were within her power.
“A declared statewide emergency only ends upon the governor’s declaration that the emergency no longer exists. That has yet to occur in the instant case,” the ruling said.

Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey also said this week that a group was trying to gather 340,000 signatures to repeal the 1945 law.

According to the man in the photos below, he was just getting off the bus and walking the rest of the way to work. He was approached by a man who asked him for a cigarette. He goes to give him one, and a small conversation ensued about a mask that the victim had with him.
Long story short, he was able to break free and run for safety, but he didn’t realize initially that the man wasn’t swinging and trying to throw punches; He was slashing at him with a knife.
Some points that were mentioned along with the photos were spot on. They included important discussions such as;
Paying attention to what’s in a person’s hands
Reading their body language and facial expressions
Asking for money, cigarette, etc. can sometimes be a way for them to get closer to you and cause some harm

After significant pushback, Rutherford County Schools is allowing parents to tune in with permission from the teacher but they can't record the classes.
"It's ridiculous. It's so hypocritical because they've been data mining our children for years, compliments of common core," Laurie Cardoza-Moore, founder of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations, said on "Fox & Friends Weekend" Saturday.
"What are they trying to hide? What is the problem? Why won't they let us sit in?" the homeschool mom of five asked.
"Obviously, because they are teaching our children propaganda that they should not be teaching," she said. "They are trying to socialize our children."
She added: "We have had a major problem in education, not just here in Tennessee, but across the country where they are indoctrinating our children with propaganda."
