The head of the union representing 4,000 New York State Police Troopers – a workforce overseen by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo — is backing Republican President Trump’s re-election bid.

“Donald Trump has our back. President Trump has supported us when so many people have turned against us,” NYS Troopers PBA president Thomas Mungeer told the Post on the eve of the Republican National Convention.

“Joe Biden supported cops in the past but he’s turned his back on us,” said Mungeer, referring to the former vice president and Democratic presidential nominee who is taking on Trump in the Nov. 3 general election.

Mungeer’s endorsement of Trump comes just ten days after New York City PBA president Patrick Lynch personally threw his union’s support behind Trump at an event with the president at his Bedminster, N.J. golf club.

The bottom line, Mungeer said, is that Democrats have swung too far to the left on criminal justice issues – leaning in the direction of criminal defendants at the expense of cops and law-abiding citizens.

Members of the National Guard wearing civilian clothes volunteered with operations at polling places in three states during the primaries and would not be barred from assisting in the November general elections if called upon by governors, according to the National Guard Bureau.

"Currently, there is no formal request," Army Master Sgt. W. Michael Houk, a spokesman for the Bureau, said Thursday of Guard assistance during the November elections.

Laws barring troops in uniform from participating in political activities do not apply to Guard members in civilian clothes activated by governors and paid for by the states, he added.

Houk explained that Guard members would be barred from assisting at polling places if they were operating with federal support under Title 32 of the U.S. Code. "That type of support is a no-go," he said.

Several hundred Guard members assisted at polling places in Kentucky, Wisconsin and New Jersey during the primaries under strict orders to stay out of the actual voting process.

Without public complaint from Republicans or Democrats, they essentially filled in for regular workers who stayed home because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Guard officials said.

Maj. Steve Martin, a spokesman for the Kentucky National Guard, said Friday that 240 Guard members assisted in 44 of Kentucky's 120 counties during the June primary. All of them were volunteers in civilian clothes and were forbidden from wearing any insignia that might indicate they were National Guard, he said.

They assisted with cleaning polling places, traffic control, maintenance support and other non-political work.

"All of their duties were non-polling related," Martin said. "No federal dollars were involved."

House Democrats are playing politics with people’s lives again.

This weekend, they blocked multiple bills designed to provide aid in the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Specifically, they blocked aid to law enforcement, because opposition to the police has become part of their agenda. And they blocked aid to small businesses, because they believe a weakened economy hurts Trump.

It’s despicable.

Breitbart reports:

House Democrats Block Funding for Police, Small Business Aid

House Democrats blocked three bills on Saturday that would have provided funding for law enforcement, aid to small businesses, and more funding for potential coronavirus treatments.

Rep. Rob Woodall (R-GA) introduced a motion to defeat the previous question, which would have allowed for the consideration of three House Republican bills to better Americans’ lives.

The first bill, sponsored by Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX), would have provided emergency funding to continue the development of vaccines, therapeutics, and building up a strategic stockpile of personal protective equipment and other medical supplies. The bill would have also helped secure America’s manufacturing and supply chains.

The second bill, sponsored by Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH), would have extended the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and allowed small businesses to receive a second PPP loan.

The third bill, introduced by Rep. Pete Stauber (R-MN), would have provided additional funding for police departments, better training, and body cameras.
