Maybe it's as simple as they (most not Id/self oriented like reptilian or bug evolved) understand that no one/soul, no matter how advanced or enlightened or primitive, has any more or less right to exist in all creation than any other one and that there are consequences for violation of that. Karma is a bitch on all levels.
