looks like we have been duped frens. Q is this dude who worked at 4chan with Pamplet (that might be a new twist, at least to me. advice: photoshop Pamplet into that Jerrome Corsi pic in Poland). He also worked with ASSANGE, but was sabatoging wikileaks from the inside.

Q: How did you become involved in the Q movement?

A: I first became involved in internet counter-culture through Cult of the Dead Cow (cDc), a hacktivist group that developed Back Orifice (a computer program that allowed a user to control a computer running the Microsoft Windows operating system from a remote location) and released it at the DEFCON 6 hacker convention in 1998. When WikiLeaks first went live, I was one of the individuals tasked with organizing the submissions and improving the tagging system. At that time, I and a few others were working directly with Julian Assange, whose handle was “Firefly.” At one point, our team disagreed with him over whether some information (such as a 747 maintenance manual that could be used to damage a commercial aircraft) should be released at all, with Julian asserting that all information should be open. Some of our team, however, felt that since we were in charge of the releases, we had a responsibility to protect information that could be used in acts of domestic terrorism. Specifically, with the 747 manual, members of our team felt we were crossing a line.

: So we know that QAnon started on the 4chan forums. Can you tell us more about how exactly it got started?

A: Initially it was kind of a push back on the massive propaganda machine that was working throughout the 2016 election cycle. Myself and six other individuals had noticed a very real disinformation campaign going back to 2015 that appeared to be a coordinated effort between US individuals and an entity that existed outside of the United States. So we knew what was possible. We also had knowledge of several different “Anons” that had previously posted to 4chan claiming to be high-level members of various agencies (CIA Anon, HLA Anon, FBI Anon), all of which were proven fake. They either couldn’t handle the flood of user questions, or they were unable to produce “proof” in the form of photographs, etc. when asked. It was then that the idea of Q was introduced.

Q: What was the original concept behind Q?

A: One of our members, "Pamphlet" floated the idea of making our own “Anon.” It was basically a prank on the /pol/ subforum, since /pol/ is more or less a grooming farm for white nationalists to spread their message and ideals to an age range of 14-28. There were so many wild accusations going around in the political forums, we just figured we could get more mileage out of it as a joke. We came up with a story so wild, we thought no one would believe it. We were “jumping the shark”, if you will. Just trying to get this bug in everyone’s ear that a high-ranking member of the administration was both a 4chan user and an ally in some gigantic war that no one knew about. The model for our “Anon” was largely based on the idea of someone like Stephen Miller. Where the previous attempts to troll /pol/ had failed, we were prepared. We knew we needed some form of authority because the same kind of thing had been attempted before, and we wanted it to be more absurd than that.

At some point, one of the 4chan users asked for verification that Q was sitting in Air Force One, since the dispatches had implied Q had access to it. I had a friend from college who actually went on to become a White House pool photographer. They happened to be on board AF1 going to a rally. We had them take a picture with a date and timestamp and posted it to the account with the Q tripcode. That’s all it took for the individuals on /pol/ to believe the story and start running with it.

Open letter to Australians

We need to let you know about new Government regulation that will hurt how Australians use Google Search and YouTube.

A proposed law, the News Media Bargaining Code, would force us to provide you with a dramatically worse Google Search and YouTube, could lead to your data being handed over to big news businesses, and would put the free services you use at risk in Australia.

The way Aussies search every day on Google is at risk from new regulation

You’ve always relied on Google Search and YouTube to show you what’s most relevant and helpful to you. We could no longer guarantee that under this law. The law would force us to give an unfair advantage to one group of businesses - news media businesses - over everyone else who has a website, YouTube channel or small business. News media businesses alone would be given information that would help them artificially inflate their ranking over everyone else, even when someone else provides a better result. We’ve always treated all website owners fairly when it comes to information we share about ranking. The proposed changes are not fair and they mean that Google Search results and YouTube will be worse for you.

Your Search data may be at risk

You trust us with your data and our job is to keep it safe. Under this law, Google has to tell news media businesses “how they can gain access” to data about your use of our products. There’s no way of knowing if any data handed over would be protected, or how it might be used by news media businesses.

Hurting the free services you use

We deeply believe in the importance of news to society. We partner closely with Australian news media businesses — we already pay them millions of dollars and send them billions of free clicks every year. We’ve offered to pay more to license content. But rather than encouraging these types of partnerships, the law is set up to give big media companies special treatment and to encourage them to make enormous and unreasonable demands that would put our free services at risk.

This law wouldn’t just impact the way Google and YouTube work with news media businesses — it would impact all of our Australian users, so we wanted to let you know. We’re going to do everything we possibly can to get this proposal changed so we can protect how Search and YouTube work for you in Australia and continue to build constructive partnerships with news media businesses — not choose one over the other.

What do you know about, Q?

Wow. Just, wow. I touched on the QAnonsense topic before, but since returning to Twitter recently with a @nomagicbullets account, I’ve been running into this special kind of crazy a lot more frequently and I find it very frightening.

For a detailed history of this growing cult, see Adrienne LaFrance’s piece, The Prophecies of Q (part of The Atlantic’s series on conspiracy theories, Shadowland). In short, Q (Q Anonymous or QAnon) is an alleged intelligence agent or high ranking military officer, or something of that sort, who is secretly feeding the public information through lesser known social media platforms. That alone sounds pretty suspicious, but it gets crazier when you find out that Q speaks in code; vaguely referencing things that could be interpreted in a number of different ways. Unlike real leakers, who share actual government documents, or real whistleblower complaints, where a clear accusation of wrongdoing is laid out, Q has got his followers debating what he really means. This also means that they are able to reinterpret his words when things don’t pan out the way they originally believed they would. Furthermore, some will say that Q has put out select pieces of disinformation to help hide his/her identity, so they can fall back on that too, when the prophecies don’t add up
