Former business associate says he had years-long affair involving Jerry Falwell Jr. and his wife

A former business associate of Jerry Falwell Jr. on Monday told Reuters the evangelical leader was a willing participant in an affair he had with Falwell’s wife Becki Falwell, a day after Jerry Falwell told the Washington Examiner that his family was being blackmailed.

Giancarlo Granda told the news service that he met the couple in 2012 while working as a hotel pool attendant at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach and that the affair lasted from that time into 2018.

“Becki and I developed an intimate relationship and Jerry enjoyed watching from the corner of the room,” Granda told Reuters. He said the relationship eventually ended due to a business dispute with the Falwells.

Granda shared what he claimed was evidence of the arrangement with Reuters. The materials included audio of Becki Falwell objecting to Granda describing his other relationships, saying “He’s like telling me every time he hooks up with people. Like I don’t have feelings or something.”

“You’re going to make her jealous,” Jerry Falwell adds.

In a June 2020 text message, Granda tells Jerry Falwell “since you’re okay with ruining my life, I am going to take the kamikaze route.”

An attorney for Jerry Falwell, Michael Bowe, told Reuters last week his client “categorically denies everything you indicated you intend to publish about him.”

However, in a statement to the Washington Examiner on Sunday, Jerry Falwell said his wife had a brief affair with Granda and that he then attempted to blackmail the couple. He said he “was not involved” in the affair.

The Hill has reached out to a representative for the Falwells for comment.

Granda denied any blackmail, saying he had simply attempted to secure a buyout from his business partnership with the Falwells.

Both Jerry Falwell’s statement and Granda’s allegations come weeks after the evangelical leader announced an indefinite leave of absence as president of Liberty University. Jerry Falwell had posted and deleted an Instagram photo of himself with his pants unzipped and his arm around his wife’s assistant days before the board of trustees announced his leave. He has run the Christian university since his father’s death in 2007.

The board of trustees said Friday it has yet to make a final decision about whether to fire Jerry Falwell.

CNN Cuts Out of Trump RNC Speech — ‘A Lot of What You Just Heard From the President of the United States Is Wrong, Misleading and Outright Lies’

Monday, the GOP formally nominated President Donald Trump for reelection. As Trump delivered remarks following his nomination, “CNN Newsroom” cut away from the speech and criticized him for his “misleading” statements and “outright lies.”

After cutting the interview, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper noted Trump went “negative” at the convention after promising to be “positive.” He added the president “falsely” attacked mail-in voting and “falsely” accused Democrats of wanting to shut down the country to hurt the economy and thus hurt him at the ballot box.

“After vowing to have a positive convention, the president goes negative in its first moments. He started off falsely attacking mail-in voting. He’s continuing attack mail-in voting and, as the postmaster general testifies that the attacks are ‘unhelpful.’ That’s his own postmaster general,” Cooper emphasized. “He also criticized the media for airing the postmaster’s hearing instead of his roll call. He falsely accused Democrats of wanting to shut down the country to hurt the economy and somehow help them at the ballot box. Unclear how angering the entire country by shutting down would help them in the ballot box. He attacked North Carolina’s governor for putting limits on crowds during a convention.”

CNN’s John King said Trump’s remarks underscore the “challenge” for those in the news business. He advised undecided voters to watch this week’s RNC to see that Trump is misleading the people and providing “outright lies.”

“This is a sad thing to say, but a lot of what you just heard from the President of the United States is wrong, misleading, and outright lies,” he stated. “Wrong, misleading and outright lies.”

Lawmakers Groan After Vile Democrat Asks Postmaster General Louis DeJoy if His “Backup Plan is to be Pardoned Like Roger Stone”

House Democrats on the Oversight Committee attacked Postmaster General Louis DeJoy during his testimony on Monday.

Democrats purposely held a hearing on the so-called operational changes made to the USPS as the Republicans kicked off their convention.

The Democrats attacked DeJoy and spread more disinformation about the operational changes he made to the USPS and suggested his actions were criminal.

One vile Democrat tried to intimidate DeJoy by suggesting he would be indicted for delaying mail delivery.

“But somehow you can delay all the mail and get away with it?” Rep. Cooper asked DeJoy.

“All my actions have to do with improving the Postal Service,” DeJoy replied. “Am I the only one in this room that understands that we have a $10 billion a year loss?”

“Mr. DeJoy, is your backup plan to be pardoned like Roger Stone?” Democrat Rep. Jim Cooper (TN) said.

There was a collective groan from other lawmakers and someone could be heard saying: “Oh, God. Pitiful.”

“I have no comment on that. It’s not worth a comment.” DeJoy said.

Fact Check: Lincoln Project Falsely Claims Trump Approved of Delegate Shouting ‘Monkey’ About Obama

CLAIM: The Never Trump-fueled Lincoln Project claimed that President Donald Trump “relished in” a delegate at the Republican National Convention shouting “monkey” after the president named former President Barack Obama.

VERDICT: False. The delegate clearly says the word “spygate” and follows up by saying what sounds like “Creepy Joe.” Trump responds by saying, “Let’s be nice. Biden. This can only happen in North Carolina.”

The Lincoln Project deleted the video and the claim about Trump after several journalists and even left-leaning users corrected them on Twitter, but not before criticizing the Trump campaign for correcting them.

Sukkar uses taxpayer budget to employ friend who also designed smear sheets

Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar used his taxpayer-funded electorate office budget to pay one of his best friends, who was also tasked with designing Mr Sukkar's political smear files and materials to solicit party donations, in potential breach of parliamentary rules.

Graphic designer Matt Pham, who chose Mr Sukkar as one of the groomsmen at his 2014 wedding and has been a close personal friend of the minister for more than a decade, was paid from Mr Sukkar's electorate office budget between 2016 and 2018. Mr Pham's LinkedIn account shows he worked in full-time roles for a real estate advertising company during the same period that Mr Sukkar has said Mr Pham worked "as a casual Electorate Officer in the Deakin Electorate Office".

Mr Sukkar defended giving his close friend work due to his "skill set and performance" as a designer. The member for the east Melbourne seat of Deakin is facing calls from Labor to resign from federal cabinet, scrutiny from an internal Liberal Party probe as well as a departmental audit. The revelations come as the fallout from the Liberal Party branch stacking scandal revealed on Sunday night by The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and 60 Minutes led to Monday's resignation from the party of powerbroker Marcus Bastiaan.

Mr Sukkar has retained the support of the Morrison government, despite evidence showing he backed a scheme to give taxpayer-funded jobs to factional operatives in the office of Liberal MP and party elder Kevin Andrews in 2017 and 2018. Mr Sukkar also employed factional operatives, including Mr Bastiaan's wife Stephanie, in his own office as electorate officers. He insists he has no knowledge or involvement in any wrongdoing or abuse of public funds.

An electorate office budget can be used to pay for mailouts to local residents and to assist a minister to conduct parliamentary business. The budget cannot be used to pay for party political activity.

Emails sent by Mr Pham reveal that he was used by Mr Sukkar's office to design flyers to solicit political donations for the Liberal Party's Deakin 200 Club in early February 2017. Taxpayer funds are not meant to be used to pay for any work done to facilitate donations for a political party.

Eyewitness Says as Many as 20,000 Unverified Absentee Ballots Counted in Detroit Primary

An eyewitness told The Kyle Olson Show that as many as 20,000 unverified absentee ballots in Detroit were fed through machines and counted during the August 4 primary.

In a segment released exclusively to Breitbart News before airing on Saturday, Michigan Republican Party-appointed poll challenger Bob Cushman said it was chaotic while absentee ballots were being counted in downtown on primary night in Detroit, a city known for voting heavily Democrat:

Cushman said he is concerned about election integrity and signed up to be an observer.

He noted that a car with Ohio license plates was driven into the large facility. Cushman said he did not know what the purpose was, but he suspected “that car was somebody that was delivering ballots. It just seemed a little odd.”

In an affidavit, Cushman recounted several counting tables “had opened ballots with no poll book” to check to see if the individual was authorized to cast that ballot.

That is significant, he said, because the poll book is used to ensure “that name is someone that’s a qualified, real voter.”

In another instance, he “noticed pages being inserted into several poll books.”

According to Cushman, some workers left early as the day dragged into the night.

Polls closed at 8:00 p.m., but Cushman observed at 12:37 a.m. that “the threat was made that the $100 bonus that had been promised earlier (over the public address system) would not be paid.”

Cushman said in his affidavit that an order was made around 2:00 a.m. to open the remaining ballots “for immediate tabulation without additional processing or notation.”

“This is just my estimate,” he told The Kyle Olson Show, “but I would guess there were 10,000 to 20,000 after 2:00 a.m. — could have been more.”

Cushman thought election officials should go back to analyze what ballots were counted after the procedures were suspected and throw those votes out.

All of this is potentially consequential given the narrow 10,704-vote victory Donald Trump won in 2016 and the expected close margin anticipated in 2020.

“It’s very hard to change the result of an election after the fact,” Cushman stated.

He said in instances, such as what happened in Detroit with numbers not squaring, Michigan law prevents a recount.

Cushman also said he does “not have faith” that the errors during the primary election will be rectified by the November election.

“But perhaps if we put enough light on this subject, that there be enough heat to get it done correctly,” he said.

He encouraged volunteers to serve as poll watchers for the presidential election to increase integrity in the process.

Speaker Pelosi Labels President Trump and Republicans “Domestic Enemies….Enemies of the State”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) unleashed on President Trump and Republicans in Congress on Monday.

Pelosi labeled the Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress “domestic enemies” and “enemies of the state” after accusing them of trying to interfere in the election by making operational changes to the USPS.

'Nothing Will Stop Us': Eric Trump, Organization Sued by New York AG Over Financial Dealings

New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit against the Trump Organization, requesting a judge order Executive Vice President (EVP) Eric Trump to hand over financial documents on four separate Trump properties and testify in an upcoming trial related to the office’s ongoing civil probe into the Trump Organization’s financial dealings.

James announced on Monday via social media that Eric Trump, the second son of US President Donald Trump and current executive responsible for all operations and management of the Trump Organization, is now at the center of a lawsuit filed on Friday in the Manhattan-based New York Supreme Court.

“The Trump Organization has stalled, withheld documents, and instructed witnesses, including Eric Trump, to refuse to answer questions under oath,” she said in a series of tweets on August 24, accusing the company of refusing to comply with the office’s subpoenas “for months.”

“That's why we filed a motion to compel the Trump Organization to comply with our lawful subpoenas for documents and testimony.”

She noted that the office’s probe initially began after Michael Cohen, the US president’s former personal attorney, revealed in sworn testimony before Congress that “Trump’s annual financial statements inflated the values of his assets to obtain favorable terms for loans & insurance coverage, while also deflating the value of other assets to reduce real estate taxes.”

As a result of the disgraced attorney’s testimony, James’ office is now seeking “thousands of documents,” as well as testimonies from Eric Trump and others believed to have knowledge of “Trump Organization properties and transactions.”

“Nothing will stop us from following the facts and the law, wherever they may lead,” she concluded. “These questions will be answered and the truth will be uncovered, because no one is above the law.”

According to the full news release on the matter, the four properties under investigation are: Seven Springs Estate, a 60-room mansion in Westchester County, New York; 40 Wall Street, the 71-story, Manhattan-based “Trump Building”; Trump International Hotel and Tower of Chicago, Illinois; and California’s Trump National Golf Club - Los Angeles.

“Valuations of Seven Springs were used to claim an apparent $21.1 million tax deduction for donating a conservation easement on the property in tax year 2015, and in submissions to financial institutions as a component of Mr. Trump’s net worth,” James detailed in her 68-page memorandum republished by Courthouse News Service.

In addition to his EVP title for the Trump Organization, Eric Trump is listed as president of Seven Springs LLC.

“In recent weeks, Eric Trump has refused to appear entirely to give testimony pursuant to a subpoena, despite his being an important character in certain transactions,” the release detailed, noting that the EVP’s refusal to cooperate has come alongside his acknowledgment of the office’s legal authority to investigate the matter.

Now only 3 people per 100,000 are hospitalized with the coronavirus.
