It's not the soldiers job to arrest and confine violent criminals. Their job is to destroy, with extreme prejudice, the enemies capabilities and will to fight. The British Empire's use of soldiers to do the jobs in the US colonies that civil servants did in England was a major cause of the American Revolution.
The better question: When are the dutifully elected civilian executive officers at the local and state level going to allow the police to actively disperse these mobs and arrest the criminals. When are those elected to prosecute law breakers going to hold those charged with violent crimes until the resolution of the criminal trial. When are the Judges and prosecuters, elected by their fellow citizens, going to cease pretending the power of their office can be used to fix broad societal problems by ignoring their responsibilities, proclaiming criminals the victim, and the damage to the victims and society the committed crimes caused irrelevant?
Failure to correct these problems before sending in the tanks is sheer stupidity.
