Yes you are correct. a small part of the over all history of the world. I don't refute that at all. BUT, it isn't the be all and end all and we should not (this is my very limited opinion btw, not a scholar) take the OT to be as an equal to the new testament.

I also think the ot is a valuable historic book. Too much of it has been proven to be correct. I will say, their reasoning, why some events have occurred are off base, but they did not have all the knowledge we have today.
