A man who groomed a 10-year-old girl online, chatting about sex with her for over a month and cycling kilometres to meet her, has escaped deportation.
John Dale Tello Barraca expected to meet the girl at a cafe in January 2018, but was instead met by police.
The then-22 year old admitted charges of exposing a young person to indecent material and arranging to meet the girl.
In November 2018, he was sentenced at Auckland District Court to four months’ home detention and six months of conditions.
