The SillyCon Valley model is simple: achieve monopoly power by scaling the network effect and buying up hundreds of potential competitors with stock “printed” out of thin air.

Once monopoly is achieved, buyers and sellers are both captive to the Big Tech monopoly: both buyers and sellers of apps, for example, must submit to the profiteering and control of the Big Tech monopoly.

Once the profits flowing from monopoly pile up, buy back the shares you “printed” to eliminate competition, boosting the wealth of insiders to the moon. Since share buybacks were once illegal, this is nothing but legalized fraud.

Despite the immense destruction these Big Tech monopolies wreak on society, the political power they purchase protects them from any limits. of “free markets.”That their platforms now control the flow of data, including political content and adverts, is brushed aside with the usual paradoxical claims

Big Tech Black Box Monopolies claim they shouldn’t be exposed to any regulation because they’ve destroyed competition and transparency within the letter of the law.

Monopoly platforms that control the flow of data, news and narratives are privatized totalitarianism, cloaked by the pretense of capitalism.

Like all totalitarian monopolies, Big Tech now claims “you can’t limit us because now you depend on us.” In other words, Big Tech is now too centralized and powerful to submit to any socio-political controls.

It’s a neat trick. Enrich the super-wealthy “investor class” with your buyback-juiced stock valuations, “buying” their loyalty and political pull with these outsized gains to keep your monopoly out of reach of any public scrutiny or limits on your profiteering and privatized totalitarianism.

Thanks to his position as Trump's chief enforcer during the racial unrest that has swept the country, Wolf has earned the hatred of liberals and progressives, which has only helped bolster his popularity among conservatives.

Wolf has been the acting secretary of the department since November, when he took over for prior acting head Kevin McAleenan, who had been Kirstjen Nielsen's deputy when she was leading the department, before Trump fired her for being too 'soft' on the border. Wolf must now be confirmed by the Republican-controlled Senate; he's not expected to face any difficulty.

Fox News host corners Jeff Flake over his support for Joe Biden, exposes hole in anti-Trump charade

Fox News host Martha MacCallum grilled former Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake on Monday over his controversial decision to endorse Joe Biden's presidential campaign.

Ahead of the Republican National Convention, Flake formally endorsed Biden, along with more than two dozen other former members of Congress, including prominent lawmakers like Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) and Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.).

The Biden campaign said:

These former members of Congress cited Trump's corruption, destruction of democracy, blatant disregard for moral decency, and urgent need to get the country back on course as a reason why they support Biden. These former members of Congress are supporting Joe Biden because they know what's at stake in this election and that Trump's failures as president have superseded partisanship.

What happened in the interview?

Republicans and conservatives who refuse to support Trump often cite his policies — that they are neither conservative nor do they authentically represent what the Republican Party has historically advocated.

So how can a conservative endorse Biden because they oppose Trump's policies, when Biden's policies are even less conservative than Trump's? MacCallum sought to expose whether Flake endorsed Biden based on his policies or his personality.

MacCallum asked, "Joe Biden, he has said that, 'If I'm elected, I will be the most progressive president in history.' How do you, as a lifetime Republican, support someone who has that goal?"

In response, Flake justified Biden's comments by deferring to the fact that Biden made them during a presidential primary rife with ultra-liberal candidates.

"I think, if you look at Joe Biden's record, he's not been that," Flake said. "He's a creature of the Senate. He knows how to compromise. He knows how to work across the aisle, and I'm confident he will do that in the future."

MacCallum later responded, "I'm just trying to figure out in terms of actual policy what it is that you really like in Joe Biden as a lifelong Republican."

For example, MacCallum noted how Flake had long supported the First Step Act, a major criminal justice reform bill — and that it was Trump, not former President Barack Obama, who signed the legislation into law.

"The president was actually able to sign that into law," MacCallum said. "We had eight years of the Obama-Biden administration and they did not take action on that. So why support Joe Biden over President Trump?"

Flake responded by noting that the Obama administration, with the help of Biden, helped appropriate more money for border security. But beyond that, he did not note other areas of policy agreement with the former vice president.

"I've been supportive of many of the things that the president has pushed —" Flake began to say.

"But you just don't like his character," MacCallum interjected.

Later, when MacCallum confronted Flake with the fact that he and Biden differ on education policy — school choice, for example — the former Arizona senator again seemed unable to reconcile his principled stand against Trump with his support for Biden.

"I think [Biden] will preserve the public space so that we can go back to disagreeing about policy and not just this ripe tribalism that we see today," Flake said.

CBS News whitewashes Kenosha destruction as mostly 'peaceful protests' as city smolders in aftermath

To some in the mainstream media, the wave of arson and destruction that swept over Kenosha, Wisconsin was nothing more than “peaceful protest” that “gave way to clashes.” Don’t believe your lying eyes, they may as well have said.

The Wisconsin city of Kenosha burned for a second night in a row on Monday, as rioters defied a police curfew and torched local businesses and law enforcement buildings. Some were armed, and even as Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers called in the National Guard, furniture shops, car lots, correctional facilities, and random vehicles were razed to the ground by the mob.

That’s not quite how CBS News saw it though. According to anchor Gayle King on Tuesday, the riots began as “peaceful protests, which is what the Black Lives Matter is really about.”

“It’s not clear if those setting fires were involved in the initial demonstrations,” King said. Yet as she described Black Lives Matter’s supposedly peaceful methods, CBS played scenes of vehicles engulfed by fire, crowds jumping on cars, and businesses still smoldering from the night’s anarchy.

CBS instead focused on the event that triggered the riots – the police shooting of 29-year-old Jacob Blake on Sunday. Blake was shot in the back seven times by officers as he attempted to get into his car, collapsing in front of his children. His father told the Chicago Sun-Times that Blake is now paralyzed from the waist down.

‘Fox & Friends’ Cuts Away from Donna Brazile Meltdown — ‘You Cannot Erase My History’

Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” host Brian Kilmeade cut away from former Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile, also a network contributor, after she derailed a segment with conservative commentator Tammy Bruce.

While commenting on the first night of the Republican National Convention, Bruce said, “No Democratic has spoken out against the nature of what’s happening in Kenosha, Portland, Seattle, Baltimore, New York, Chicago. Americans have a choice, and the fact is that the Republicans are showing an expanse of what the American sensibility and what the American future is.”

Brazile said, “This is why the choir sounds like aa note coming from a scratched record. It sounds like I will never be an American in your world, because, after 400 years, my family cannot walk out of this house without fearing violence.”

Kilmeade said, “That’s not what anyone said.”

After an extended back and forth, Brazile said, “She ignores the reality of what is happening. She is ignoring it because I see it. Tammy, I see it every day. I see the violence, Tammy.”

She continued, “Coming from someone who does not live my existence — you do not recognize my existence, Tammy. You do not recognize my existence!”

Bruce said, “It’s a shame.”

Brazile shot back, “You are the shameful one. You are the shameful one. You cannot erase my history.”

Farage: Britain Must Withdraw From The EU’s Asylum Rules to End the Channel Migrant Crisis

The United Kingdom must free itself of European Union regulations governing asylum seekers if there is to be any hope to curb the burgeoning migrant crisis in the English Channel, Brexit leader Nigel Farage has said.

Speaking after a number of Conservative members of parliament calling themselves the Common Sense Group wrote to Boris Johnson calling for legislation to be brought forward to change the asylum system in the UK, Nigel Farage said even more than that had to be done, calling for the country to withdraw from the EU migrant allocation scheme.

Discussing the growing migrant crisis on England’s southern shores with talkRadio host Mike Graham Tuesday morning, Mr Farage challenged the whole framing of the immigration debate, noting the vast majority of boat arrivals to the UK from safe European nation France’s northern coast this year have not been “asylum seekers”, but rather are “illegal immigrants”.

Responding to the letter signed by dozens of Tory MPs to Boris Johnson calling for new laws to radically change the migration system, Mr Farage said that even if the government wanted to do something, it would take months — time in which thousands of more illegals would come.

Mr Farage said: “We are told that some primary legislation may get put before parliament this autumn.

“But the problem is, how many thousands more will come, and need to be housed, and put pressure on those communities before anything passes into law. And I actually think that the government needs to say to the European Union as part of the negotiations that are ongoing — we are overriding the Dublin Regulations which allows people, effectively, to not claim asylum in France but to come to Britain. And we’ll overrule them immediately. That’s the only way we are going to stop the flow this year.”

While the Dublin Regulations Mr Farage cited as a stumbling block to Britain regaining control of its own borders has been sold by the European Union as positive protection for both migrants and states, it, in fact, prevents nations from turning back illegals. The way the regulations forces the hands of states has led to the scenes seen in the English Channel, where migrants are escorted across the water by French patrol boats and picked up by British Border Force ships, unable to turn them back.

Migration Watch UK’s Ben Loughnane told Breitbart London that freeing Britain from the Dublin regulations was an essential step on the road to regaining control of the nation’s borders. Explaining why Farage’s call was important, he said on Tuesday: “Until we leave Dublin III we cannot eliminate the pull factors which incentivise these crossings. Whilst leaving Dublin III will not itself stop crossings, it will free us of obligations which are most often against our interests.”

Leaving the compact would not be a “magic bullet” solving the migration crisis, however. Loughnane said it was merely the first step which would have to be followed up with significant other developments: “Subsequent legal changes, radical reform of our asylum system, and the elimination of loopholes and incentives which drive illegal crossings will go a long way to reducing the numbers. Those who consider coming in illegally must know that they will be returned, or they will continue to come. Currently, they know the opposite, that it is very likely they will get to stay – even if their asylum claims are rejected.”

Ultimately, the Migration Watch UK spokesman said, while the UK remains subject to Dublin rules, headline catching moves by the government like sending more Border Force boats or even the Royal Navy to the Channel would have no real effect, as they would still be bound to bring migrants ashore — the majority of whom will never be deported.

Sweden: Vandals Profane Christian Church 7 Days in Row

Vandals desecrated the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malmö (southern Sweden) seven days in a row this month, breaking windows and demolishing a statue of Jesus.

The attentive folks at L’Observatoire de la Christianophobie reported Monday that for the week ending August 18, the church — located in the district of Västra Skrävlinge — was repeatedly profaned and is now protected by a nightly patrol.

Among the damage, a statue of Jesus was destroyed inside the church building and over the course of the week some 30 church windows were smashed with stones. The perpetrators also hurled other objects into the church through the broken windows.

In the aftermath of the incidents, the church suspended religious services to allow the building to be cleaned of the large amount of broken glass that had accumulated on the pews. In the meantime, the church was obliged to hold Sunday services outdoors, but this past Sunday the church managed to return to holding worship indoors again.

The Västra Skrävlinge church’s supervising priest, Mikael Göth, said that the escalating destruction has caused concern among his congregation. “People are distraught, anxious, and worried for their safety,” Göth said. “We are grieving.”

“We got a wave of seven nights in a row — or nights,” Göth said. “They went to church, smashed windows, made a disturbance, and knocked over the statue. Now we have guards and the police are involved.”

It is still unclear who is behind the vandalism, Göth said. “At the moment we are not speculating about that. We just hope we can stop it.”

“A church is a church,” he added. “It means much more than just the building; it is a place where you feel protected. So when this happens it is distressing.”

The district of Västra Skrävlinge attained international notoriety in 2016 when a local Muslim, Osama Krayem, became one of Europe’s most hunted men and eventually was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the coordinated terrorist attacks in Brussels that killed thirty-two civilians and injured more than 300 others.

In April of that year, Belgian police apprehended the 23-year-old — who by then had assumed the new ISIS-given identity of Naim al-Hamed — in Brussels, on suspicion of buying the bags used to hide the bombs in the Brussels metro. During his interrogation, Krayem confessed that he was the second metro bomber, claiming he felt regret at the last moment and so never tried to detonate his suicide bomb.

Born in Västra Skrävlinge, Osama Krayem grew up as part of the local Muslim community in the Rosengård district in Malmö but eventually enrolled as a fighter with the Islamic State in Syria.

Sweden's Public Health Agency said today a faulty test kit had returned some 3,700 false positive results, an error discovered by two laboratories during routine quality controls.

The agency said the PCR kits, which test for an ongoing COVID-19 infection, were made in China by the company BGI Genomics and had been distributed worldwide.

In Sweden, the kits were used by people conducting at-home tests between period March and August, the agency said.

Mostly, 'people who had mild symptoms or who didn't feel any symptoms at the time of the test received false positive results,' the agency said in a statement.

Church Burned Down During Anti-Police Riots In Wisconsin, Report Says

A church in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was reportedly burned down Tuesday night amid the violent anti-police riots that broke out across the city at the start of the week.

The violence started on Sunday after law enforcement officials shot Jacob Blake, 29, while responding to a domestic incident. Wisconsin authorities are investigating the shooting to see if there was any misconduct by any of the officers involved.

Hours later, riots and looting broke out across Kenosha and businesses were destroyed. A police officer was also reportedly knock out when he was struck with a brick.

The riots extended into the early morning hours on Monday and then picked up again on Monday night and extended into the early morning hours on Tuesday.

“Residents emerged from their houses around midnight to gape at billowing smoke that could be seen for miles. Lost in the blaze, neighbors said, was a mattress store, a storefront church, a Mexican restaurant and a cellphone store,” The New York Times reported. “Less than a mile away, a probation and parole office was also on fire.”

Six arrested for 'failing to disperse' outside Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot's home

Chicago police arrested six out-of-town protesters for failing to disperse from outside Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot's home after they were ordered to do so Saturday night.

The arrests followed news that Lightfoot, despite supporting protests elsewhere in the city, had banned protesters from gathering near her home and stationed at times more than 100 police officers outside her neighborhood to disperse the crowds.

The move had reportedly caused grumbling among the city's police and was called out by Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara. The Chicago Sun-Times noted that police are already stretched thin, with many officers leaving the force and the remaining police tasked with managing violence and riots in other locations around the city.

Lightfoot defended the move last week, alleging that threats have been made against her and her family, though she did not elaborate on the nature of the threats.

The arrests: The six individuals arrested — four women and two men — were from New York, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, and Washington, according to WGN-TV. They were charged with misdemeanor residential picketing and are due in court October 5.

Police said that all six of the individuals were given a verbal warning to disperse before they were detained and that one woman was also issued a city ordinance violation for loud music or amplified sound.

A woman who remained anonymous told the Chicago Sun-Times that some of the protesters were with the "Jesus Matters Movement."

She reportedly added that they were protesting Lightfoot because "Lightfoot is a liberal and it is the liberals' faults" that "the country is going to s**t."

An email sent in May by the district commander over Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood, where Lightfoot's home is located, instructed officers to inform protesters near the home "that it is against the city code and state law to protest" and that they must "leave immediately."

The instructions added that after the warning is given, the street "should be locked down."

Catanzara claimed that up to 140 officers at a time were being pulled from neighboring districts to protect Lightfoot's home. One neighbor reportedly coined the name "Fort Lori" to describe the scene.

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., on Tuesday blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., for calling Republicans "domestic enemies of the state."

“They want that chaos, they want the confusion because they know the president of the United States is going to win on Election Day, but, they want to keep counting just like they did in New Jersey four weeks after their primary election,” Jordan told "Fox & Friends."

“Imagine if it takes six weeks to figure out who won one congressional primary. Now they’re talking about live ballots being mailed out to everyone and then counting ballots,” Jordan said.

Jordan said Americans want a “fair and secure election.”

“The speaker saying the things she does does not help things, only hurts things,” Jordan said.

Pelosi escalated her attacks toward President Trump and GOP lawmakers Monday, describing them as "domestic enemies" over their opposition to universal mail-in voting.

During an interview on "MSNBC Live" with anchor Ayman Mohyeldin, Pelosi slammed Trump's repeated rhetoric opposing mail-in voting and accused him of "scaring" potential voters and welcoming Russian interference in the upcoming election.

"The Russians were there and they are there now 24/7 trying to interfere in our election, but they're not the only ones," Pelosi said. "We take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. And sadly, the domestic enemies to our voting system and our honoring of the Constitution are right at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with their allies in the Congress of the United States."

The speaker then urged Democrats to "mobilize," "organize" and not allow Trump to "deter anybody from voting."

The Justice Department's decision to threaten Yale University with a lawsuit over allegedly discriminatory admissions practices has raised questions about timing and politics, but those connected to the probe say they had little choice but to proceed when they did.

Coming in the waning days of Trump's first term, the probe hints at the prospect that a Biden administration could quietly end the dispute, which is fraught with broader questions about the future of affirmative action. But no matter who wins this November, the debate over Ivy League discrimination against Asian and white applicants will persist. A Biden Justice Department cannot expect to evade the controversy, as new lawsuits proliferate and a separate case against one of Yale's sister Ivies approaches an advanced stage.

A source with knowledge of the Yale investigation disputed that the timing of the Department's August 13 warning letter is tied to the election. Public release of DOJ's findings coincides with the approach of a new admissions cycle, the source said, and sharing results or bringing an enforcement action after the election would expose another wave of students to allegedly discriminatory practices. The letter also follows an investigation that lasted about two years, prompted by a complaint from a student group called the Asian American Coalition for Education.

The Department's findings are based on admissions figures that the university provided to investigators. The government's original information request was much larger than what Yale ultimately furnished, according to the source. Investigators sought admissions data going back many years, but the university provided only two cycles' worth. School officials eventually released a third round after additional wrangling.

The university disputes this telling of events, but declined to answer specific questions about its level of disclosure.

US slams Turkey's Erdogan for hosting Hamas

The United States said on Tuesday it strongly objected to Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan’s recent hosting of two leaders of Hamas in Istanbul.

The State Department said the officials were Specially Designated Global Terrorists and the United States was seeking information about one for his involvement in multiple terrorist attacks, hijackings, and kidnappings.

A Turkish government statement on Saturday said Erdogan received Ismail Haniyeh, head of the Hamas Political Bureau, and an accompanying delegation.

The State Department said the Saturday meeting was the second time this year Erdogan had welcomed leaders of the armed Islamist group that has controlled Gaza for over a decade, after a meeting on February 1.

Ex-PM Medvedev to lead new Security Council commission on Russian interests in the Arctic

MOSCOW, August 25. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an order to establish an inter-agency commission of the Russian Security Council on securing Russian interests in the Arctic. The document was published on the official legal information website Tuesday.

The order also appoints the commission’s membership; the commission will be led by Dmitry Medvedev, who currently serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Council.

Furlough cancelled for 13,000 immigration services workers

The financially strained U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said Tuesday it would cancel the planned furlough of 13,000 workers scheduled for Sunday after sustained bipartisan pressure from Congress

"Averting this furlough comes at a severe operational cost that will increase backlogs and wait times across the board, with no guarantee we can avoid future furloughs," USCIS Deputy Director for Policy Joseph Edlow said.

"A return to normal operating procedures requires congressional intervention to sustain the agency through fiscal year 2021,” he added.

The Homeland Security agency, which processes applications for visas, asylum, and citizenship, had announced potential furloughs in May after the COVID-19 pandemic took hold in the United States.

The agency, which gets a considerable portion of its funding from fees, was projected to have a $571 million deficit as the country went into lockdown, and announced furloughs for late July.

But a combination of cost-cutting measures and an increase in fee revenue have improved its financial situation, leading to a delay and ultimately the cancelation of the furloughs.

A recent estimate found that USCIC would finish the year with a surplus of $230 million and remain solvent at least through November, by which point new funding should be in place.

The spending cuts, however, mean the agency will operate less efficiently, and it anticipates longer wait times for processing cases and inquiries.

Bipartisan members of Congress had called on USCIS to refrain from furloughing workers, including the top Democrats and Republicans on the Appropriations subcommittee on Homeland Security in both chamber.

"The USCIS financial situation has improved considerably since the agency first made Congress aware of a potential need for emergency appropriated funds," they wrote in a joint letter earlier this week.

"USCIS's improved financial position and the continued efforts by Congress to ensure the agency's operational continuity warrant a further delay in furloughs and contract reductions," they added.

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), the top Democratic appropriator in the Senate, had been pushing on the issue for months.

Bipartisan lawmakers introduce resolution condemning QAnon conspiracy theory

Reps. Denver Riggleman (R-Va.) and Tom Malinowski (D-N.J.) introduced a bipartisan resolution Tuesday condemning QAnon.

The sprawling conspiracy theory centers around the baseless belief that President Trump and his allies are working with the military to expose a shadowy cabal of elites who control U.S. politics and run child trafficking rings.

But it also casts a wide net, bringing in people who believe, for example, that Hillary Clinton engages in Satanic sacrifices or that John F. Kennedy Jr. is alive and in hiding.

The FBI has labeled the loose community a potential domestic terrorism threat.

Malinowski warned that letting the theory fester without condemnation could prove dangerous.

“Conspiracy theories that falsely blame secret cabals and marginalized groups for the problems of society have long fueled prejudice, violence and terrorism,” he said in a statement. “It’s time for us to come together across party lines to say that QAnon has no place in our nation’s political discourse.”

Riggleman — who lost a primary for his seat earlier this year and is one of the most vocal opponents of the theory within the GOP — called QAnon “a danger and a threat that has no place in our country's politics.”

"I think we've got to look at stopping sort of the fringes of the parties controlling any type of narrative when it comes to these types of theories,” he told The Hill in an interview.

The resolution outlines several examples of criminal activity and violence tied to the supporters of the conspiracy theory, which has been labeled by the FBI a potential domestic terrorism threat.

It also highlights the theory’s anti-Semitic undercurrents, a common thread between many of the conspiracies under QAnon’s tent.

Beyond condemning QAnon, the resolution calls for the FBI and federal law enforcement to dedicate more resources to countering conspiracy-driven extremism.

Top Republicans including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) have come out against QAnon.

The community following along with Q — the anonymous figure that posts the cryptic messages that serve as the foundation of the theory on image boards — has ballooned recently, especially with the coronavirus pandemic keeping people home and providing fodder for conspiracies.

The movement has begun to seep into mainstream political discourse as well, with multiple congressional candidates who have expressed support for the theory winning their Republican primaries.

MOSCOW, August 25. /TASS/. The Kremlin so far sees no grounds to launch a criminal probe into the situation around opposition blogger Alexei Navalny, Russian president’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.

"First, it is necessary to identify the substance, to find out what caused his condition. It means there should be grounds for an investigation. So far, all we can say is that the patient is in a coma," he said.

If the fact of Russian blogger Alexei Navalny's poisoning with some definite substance is established, there will be a cause for investigation, Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

"If the substance is established and if it is established that this is poisoning, then, of course, this will be a cause for investigation," he said.

"Medics are addressing this matter, first Russian doctors and then German doctors. They are conducting phase one of this investigation, trying to find out what has caused the condition the patient is in now. So far, regrettably, to no avail," he said.

Peskov stressed that there was nothing new in the German clinic’s statement about Navalny’s condition. "The fact of low cholinesterase was established by our medics during the first hours at the Omsk hospital and atropine the Germans are talking about and which is now being used was administered during the first hour of the patient’s stay in the intensive care unit," he said.

The Kremlin spokesman noted that it was purely medical information. "We simply called and asked the doctor what it means at all. None of us knows. An ordinary man has no idea of cholinesterase. I knew nothing about that until yesterday," he confessed.

Peskov noted that, according to medics, cholinesterase inhibitors are widely used in medicine. "There are a lot of such medicines but no chemical components of such a preparation have been identified. Neither German nor our doctors are able to say what inhibited cholinesterase," he stressed, adding that the Russian side "would be only grateful" if this substance is identified by German doctors.

"Cholinesterase levels may drop due to various reasons," he went on to say, noting that it is possible when various drugs are used. "It is very important to identify what triggered the cholinesterase drop. And neither our nor German medics are so far able to say why this happened, at least, this is what follows from the German medics’ statement. Regrettably, the substance has not been identified, samples do not show it," Peskov stressed.

Sudanese prime minister rejects ties with Israel, for now

After meeting Mike Pompeo, Abdalla Hamdok says transition government he heads has no mandate to normalize relations with Jerusalem

Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok said Tuesday that his government cannot normalize ties with Israel until after its political transition, in a statement issued as US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Khartoum to promote such a peace agreement.

“The transitional phase in Sudan is led by a broad coalition with a specific agenda: to complete the transition process and achieve peace and stability in the country, leading to free elections. The transitional government does not have a mandate beyond these tasks to decide on normalization with Israel. This matter will be decided upon after the duties of the transitional government are completed,” Hamdok said in a statement.

Since the 2018-9 Sudanese revolution, the country has been led by a transitional government composed of a military leader — Abdel Fattah Burhan — and a civilian head of state — Hamdok. The transitional period is slated to end in 2022.

Pompeo landed in Sudan Tuesday as part of a regional tour urging more Arab countries to normalize ties with Israel, following the US-brokered Israel-United Arab Emirates agreement.

Pompeo, the first American top diplomat to visit Sudan since 2005, arrived on a historic “first official non-stop flight” from Tel Aviv, he tweeted from the plane.

Israel remains technically at war and has no formal diplomatic relations with Sudan, which for years supported Islamist forces under its former strongman Omar al-Bashir.

But its new transitional government has vowed to break with the Bashir era, following his ouster last year amid popular pro-democracy protests.

Pompeo was meeting Hamdok and Burhan to discuss continued US support for the civilian-led transitional government “and express support for deepening the Sudan-Israel relationship,” the State Department said.

A later statement by the State Department said that apart from that issue, Pompeo and Burhan had discussed the “importance of the military’s continued support for the civilian-led transitional government and Sudan’s path toward democracy.” Pompeo “stressed the need for international support to strengthen the protection of civilians in Darfur,” according to the statement.

Israel ties not a condition for Sudan to shed terror-sponsor status - US

Pompeo takes first-ever direct flight from Tel Aviv to Khartoum.

Normalization with Israel is not a precondition for Sudan to be removed from the US state sponsor of terror list, US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook and State Department Spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said ahead of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s visit to Khartoum.

Pompeo made history before even arriving, as he flew on the first official direct flight from Israel to Sudan. He was also the first US secretary of state to visit the country since Condoleezza Rice in 2005.

Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok told Pompeo on Tuesday that his country’s government was not mandated to normalize ties with Israel, its cabinet spokesman said in a statement.

The Sudanese premier said he held “direct and transparent” talks with Pompeo, including about Sudan’s removal from the list.

Hamdok reaffirmed to Pompeo the importance of separating normalization of ties from a US decision on removing Sudan’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism, spokesman Faisal Saleh said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Sudanese leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in February and announced that they would take steps toward normalization. In March, Sudan began allowing flights on their way to Israel to enter in its airspace.

The evening before Pompeo left Jerusalem for Khartoum, Hook and Ortagus said Sudan’s blacklist status and the possibility of ties with Israel are not necessarily connected.

“We support both objectives on their own merits; it’s not any more complicated than that,” Hook said. “We would like to see them normalize and, if they can meet the criteria, would like to see them no longer a state sponsor of terror.”

Sudan has been trying to get off the list “for quite some time,” Ortagus said. “When you’re on the state sponsor of terrorism list, there’s a legal process to get that designation moved. The Sudanese are very vocal about their desire to get off of that list, and that’s the path people should be working towards. Responsible states should want to be off that list.”

In recent years, Sudan has sought to break away from Iran’s orbit. Tehran previously had access to Port Sudan on the Red Sea for its naval forces, and Iranian ships have previously transferred arms to Gaza through Sudan and into Egypt. This was one of the key supply routes for Hamas as it built up its capacity to wage war against Israel.

Because of the civil war in Yemen, Sudan decided that it would no longer maintain a pro-Iranian orientation. It has since aligned its foreign policy with Saudi Arabia. As a result, Hamas lost its Sudanese line of supply.

While on Sunday, Pompeo tweeted that “the democratic transition underway is a once in a generation opportunity for the people of Sudan. Looking forward to discussing how to deepen the US-Sudan relationship.”

Left Threatens Violence Over Election Loss

American history is no stranger to heated election disputes. In 1824, Adams beat Jackson in a race thrown to the House of Representatives. In 1876, Hayes beat Tilden in a race that ended Reconstruction. In 1888, Harrison lost the popular vote but won the electoral vote, beating Grover Cleveland. In 1960, Kennedy beat Nixon, allegedly benefiting from vote fraud in Texas and Illinois. In 2000, Bush beat Gore in an election fought through Florida and up the Supreme Court.

In none of these cases, did the Republic fall. But today is different, if you believe the dire warnings from what’s being billed as a “bipartisan group” of government officials and election experts.

Today, the end is near. The Transition Integrity Project (TIP) warns of an “alarming” election season marked by “illegal actions,” defiance of the popular vote, “chaos and violence in the streets,” federal seizure of mail-in ballots, “violent action,” and attempts to “bribe and silence associates, declassify sensitive documents,” and pillage the Treasury.

These paranoid polemics are featured in an ostensibly non-partisan report, “Preventing a Disputed Presidential Election and Transition,” circulating widely among the Left as Election Day nears. The villain of this set piece of course is Donald Trump.

The report can be read simply as an occasionally hilarious guide to the Left’s id. After spending many pages trashing the president as a violent racist democracy-stealing criminal and worst-person-ever, TIP states that it “takes no position on how Americans should cast their votes.”

But the document also provides some interesting clues about how the Left would handle a close contest.

TIP said it engaged over 100 participants in a series of electoral war games: four “2020 election crisis scenarios.” The four scenarios: a race too tight to call on election night; a Biden popular vote and Electoral College win by a big margin; a Trump win in the Electoral College but a loss of the popular vote; and a Biden popular and electoral win by a narrow margin.

The results of all four exercises were “alarming,” the report says. President Trump is likely to “contest the result by both legal and extra-legal means, in an attempt to hold onto power.”

Forget about the courts. Never mind that the legal system is the bulwark of our democratic process. TIP “intentionally did not game legal strategies in any detail,” the reports says. That’s telling.

New Jersey Governor Proposes Hiking Millionaire Taxes To Plug $1 Billion Spending Hole

After flip-flopping in the past year whether to slap millionaires with even higher taxes, it now appears that New Jersey is willing to take the plunge and as Bloomberg reports, Governor Phil Murphy on Tuesday proposed more than $1 billion in new taxes, which would mostly come from millionaires even as some of the state's most prominent rich residents most notably David Tepper previously packed up their bags and left for Florida in response to the state's egregious taxes, already among the highest in the nation.

AL GORE: If Trump Refuses to Concede, Military Will Take Him Out Of White House

They’re really coming out of the woodwork, aren’t they?

Al Gore says if President Trump refuses to accept a loss in the presidential election, the U.S. military will take him out of the White House.

The former vice president, who lost to George W. Bush in 2000, sat down for an online interview with Reuters Editor in Chief Stephen J. Adler.

What if Trump declares the results illegitimate, Adler asked him.

“I don’t know,” Gore said. “But it’s important to say that it’s really not up to him. I hear people saying, ‘Well, would he accept that decision?’ Well, it doesn’t matter because it’s not up to him. Because at noon on January 20th, if a new president is elected… the police force, the Secret Service, the military, all of the executive branch officers, will respond to the command and the direction of the new president.”

Gore added: “I’m hoping that it will be a decisive victory [for Biden], but I don’t want to get ahead of myself, because like a lot of people in my political party, I felt kind of optimistic four years ago, and we all saw what happened. So I don’t think anybody who is a partisan for Biden or [Kamala] Harris are going to be relaxing or coasting just because they have a lead in the polls right now.”

As usual, Gore isn’t original. Biden said last month he is “absolutely convinced” that the military would remove Trump from the White House if he refuses to leave after losing November’s election.

“This president is going to try to steal this election,” Biden warned in an interview on The Daily Show. “It’s my greatest concern. My single greatest concern.”

Asked whether he’s thought about what would happen if he wins but Trump decides not to leave the White House, Biden responded: “Yes I have.”

“I promise you, I’m absolutely convinced they will escort him from the White House with great dispatch,” Biden said.
