If you watch a good enough quality video you can see he was reaching for Kyle's rifle after Kyle refrained from shooting him at first. Then Kyle see's the gun and him going for his rifle, he flinches back and pulls the trigger with barrel just inches from Lefty's right inner elbow.
The wound was from bullet and gases being that close to muzzle.
Just my observation.
Civilians are not under the same rules as Law Enforcement…….
