Mask reuse: last night, kiddos were using masks as hammocks for the their little puppets and lovies. Cute.

Yesterday, kiddos were "Playing Store" - and shaming the stuffed animals shopping without masks, telling them they couldn't shop without it. HORRIFYING.

..But, let it continue. With the return to school (hybrid, and we know there will be 'cases', and it will likely be immediately shifted to all-remote again), need to support the rules and policies enough for the kids to get through the day without extra trauma. Mask trauma is one thing, having trouble with administrators is not something I can risk at the moment.

>Final Solution Trailer (2018)

@0:29 in that clip, there is a one-second image of man burning inside a tire (see caps).

This is called "Necklacing".

I first learned of this when traveling with a partner in South Africa circa 1995 or so. We were driving from Durbs to the Kruger Nat'l Park.

It was mid-morning, and as we drove through this area, perhaps near a village, there on the side of the road was a burnt corpse inside a burnt tire. I wanted to stop and take a picture (don't recall, think this was vetoed). Partner explained the practice, and the black-on-black violence in the country, and moarโ€ฆ

Been feeling strung along for nearly 40 years.

First time had any realistic sense of hope for maybe 20 years. 40K foot view is hard for most - decreasing altitude. Waiting for the real 'fasten seatbelts and put up tray tables' signal to come together. Patiently, and in mourning for current suffering. Waking up is hard for folks.

>Call in your order ask them to bring it out to your car.

These are some of the advantages (albeit, very few!) of the current situation. Have used curbside quite a number of times, from food to beer to staples. Not efficient for the merchants, so unsustainable, but trying to see the bright sides here and there.

>programs to set up Covid checkpoints stopping and checking vehicles coming into the state. This is where heavier restrictions start.

>First, checkpoints will be established in the name of keeping infected people out of a state or city. Then, those same checkpoints will be used to keep people from leaving a state or city. Then, checkpoints will be set up at random to test people for fever or symptoms of illness. If allowed to continue, the natural progression of checkpoints is to terrify the population into not traveling anywhere for any reason.

Been (only half) joking about ICE at our State Borders. Next TSA jobs type plan. Bring back the Toll Booths (unless you pay for the EZ-ICE-Pass for the quick pre-approved drive-through..)
