Some elements of the Republican National Convention could be in breach of the Hatch Act, according to journalists
The second night of the Republican National Convention featured a speech by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo from Jerusalem, a naturalization ceremony held at the White House by President Trump and acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf and a keynote address from the Rose Garden. Journalists, legal experts and analysts questioned whether these elements of the 2020 RNC were in violation of the 1939 Hatch Act, an ethics law that restricts federal employees’ engagement in certain partisan political activities. White House chief of staff Mark Meadows dismissed accusations of ethics violations on Wednesday.
