Message from Fishing Fleet Coordinator to Captains
All,
I have talked to the Coast Guard several time since your first encounter with the Russian Navy vessels. They are aware that they are out there and the Coast Guard and other agencies are monitoring their activities. The Russians have published a Hydro board cast that cover 17 separate locations where they intend to conduct their exercise, I understand that it is difficult to plot the coordinates. I will ask for clarification from the Coast Guard just where these areas are.
The US Coast Guard at this point has no intention to order any US vessel to depart the area but have stress that we all exercise extreme caution if we are in close quarters or in the general area with these vessels always follow all applicable Navigational Rules of the road and give them a wide berth.
The Coast Guard has also asked if you have taken any picture of their vessels, Subs and planes that you send them to me so I can send them onto them.
If any of their vessels or planes do anything that is provocative in any way or they become aggressive with you please if possible immediately notify the Coast Guard Command Center at xxx-xxx-xxxx or you can always call me, xxxxxxxx or email me and I will call them.
