Spouse has been chatting with his super lefty childhood friend a couple times a month. He's questioning the riots, the race issues, how both parties just seem to be the same, etc. Simple stuff to us, sure.. but for this friend to start asking questions or "wondering" why things are happening the way they are, it's a big step. He still "hates" Trump, but is now more open to questions and hearing other viewpoints. The illusion is starting to crack.
