Apple Revokes Epic Games Developer Credentials As Anti-Trust Battle Heats Up

In an unexpectedly brash move from the staid Cupertino tech behemoth, Apple has revoked the developer credentials for Epic Games after it refused to stop directing its users to circumvent Apple's fee-collecting payment channels for its popular Fortnite game.

"We are disappointed that we have had to terminate the Epic Games account on the App Store," Apple said in a statement. "We have worked with the team at Epic Games for many years on their launches and releases. The court recommended that Epic comply with the App Store guidelines while their case moves forward, guidelines they’ve followed for the past decade until they created this situation. Epic has refused."

A court order last week denied Epic’s motion to force Apple to reinstate Fortnite on the App Store.

However, the judge ruled that Apple couldn't terminate the developer account that Epic uses for Unreal Engine, after initially saying he was "inclined" a graphics technology that is used by many game developers. Apple said Friday that it would be complying with the judge's order, and the licensing of the unreal engine wouldn't be interrupted.

Part of Epic's strategy is to turn developers against Apple and Google parent Alphabet (which Epic is also suing) in an attempt to force them to drop their fees. Like they say: 'strength in numbers'.

The legal clash has angered some developers who complain that Apple’s App Store rules are unfair and that the company’s fees are too high. The backlash has also increased antitrust scrutiny of Apple, the world’s most valuable company.

"Apple is asking that Epic revert Fortnite to exclusively use Apple payments," Epic said in a statement. "Their proposal is an invitation for Epic to collude with Apple to maintain their monopoly over in-app payments on iOS, suppressing free market competition and inflating prices. As a matter of principle, we won’t participate in this scheme."

While we wait for Epic to respond, one Twitter user pointed out, they're already trolling Apple customer service, a move that is red meat for Epic founder Tim Sweeney's legion of fanboys

Finally Lindsey Graham Brings in Top Obamagate Spy to Testify But He Limits Participants in Hearing

For two years Americans have been begging someone in Washington to bring those to justice who were involved in the coup of the Trump Administration.

Senator Lindsey Graham said he would do just that, but he hasn’t. Yesterday, Graham finally brought in the key character involved in the Russia collusion coup but then he failed to tell key Senate stakeholders that he was holding the hearing.

On May 1, 2019 Lindsey Graham, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, promised investigations on how the Mueller probe started.

He made the the comments during testimony by US Attorney General Bill Barr in front of the US Senate.

But Lindsey Graham was not telling the truth. Finally, yesterday Graham brought in one of the key players involved in the coup attempt of President Trump – but he failed to notify all the individuals with a need to know.

The Washington Examiner reported:

A Senate Judiciary Committee Republican aide told the Washington Examiner that Grassley was not invited to the questioning of Pientka, but Republican Homeland Security Chairman Ron Johnson and Democratic ranking member Sen. Gary Peters reportedly were. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham’s office did not respond to a request for comment. Johnson’s office also did not respond.

“We weren’t aware that it was happening, and we learned about it after the fact,” the GOP aide said. “We weren’t in the room, we don’t know how long it lasted, and we don’t know what topics were covered. At the end of the day, we just want to make sure that the issues that we need clarity on were discussed in that interview. It would’ve been a lot easier if we were in the room.”

The aide added: “We know more about Pientka now than in 2018, and we probably have even more questions now about his role, given the broader understanding of what he was up to.”

This was discussed this evening on FOX Business with Lou Dobbs.

China Criticizes President Trump After Anti-Beijing RNC Speech, Says He Is Hurting Businesses

President Donald Trump received criticism from China after his acceptance speech Thursday at the Republican National Convention. China officials claim Trump’s policies “violate the will of the business community.”

“I believe this is their act which tries to put their self-interests and the interests of their parties above the interests of the United States,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said at a press briefing in Beijing, referring to Trump. “Such political manipulation is unfeasible.”

Zhao said Trump’s stances “disrupt normal investments and operations” of international companies and contradict market principles.

Trump's speech touched on his hopes for U.S. businesses to leave China.

“We will not rely on them one bit. We are taking our business out of China. We are bringing it home. We want our business to come home,” Trump said.

In a recent Fox News interview, Trump suggested that the U.S. economy could decouple from China. “Well, it’s something that if they don’t treat us right I would certainly … do that,” Trump told host Steve Hilton.

In January, the U.S. and China signed a “Phase One” trade agreement that would require Beijing to purchase $200 billion in U.S. goods over the next two years. In response, the U.S. would call off its planned tariff increases on Chinese products.

Trump has threatened to cancel the deal due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The president has frequently blamed Beijing for the outbreak, calling it the “China Virus.”

Trump has previously praised Chinese President Xi Jinping’s handling of the outbreak.

Two US Special Op Soldiers Dead, Three Injured in Helicopter Drill Crash, Report Claims

A Black Hawk helicopter crashed during an exercise in the vicinity of Coronado, California, on Thursday, according to The San Diego Union Tribune. An investigation into the incident has been launched, with additional information to follow.

Two US Army Special Operations soldiers died and three were injured in a crash of a Black Hawk helicopter in Coronado, California, according to The San Diego Union Tribune, citing a US Army Special Operations Command spokesperson.

“An element of US Army Special Operations Command was conducting routine training in the vicinity of Coronado, California, on August 27, when an aircraft incident occurred,” the Army said. “Two Soldiers were killed and three were injured. The area has been secured and an investigation into the incident is underway.”

The helicopter was conducting routine training in the area, when the "aircraft incident" occurred, according to the statement. An investigation has been launched, and more information is expected to follow in 24 hours, following next-of-kin notifications.

“At this time we are not releasing anything beyond the statement provided,” said J. Elise Van Pool, an Army spokeswoman, in an email to The San Diego Union Tribute. “We are still in the process of making next of kin notifications and will not release any additional information until that process is complete.”

According to an unnamed Defence Department official, cited by the outlet, the incident took place on San Clemente Island, west of San Diego, and involved the troops of the Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.

Earlier in July, the US Marine Corps confirmed the deaths of seven Marines and one sailor in an accident that occurred during exercises on an amphibious assault vehicle (AAV) near the coast of San Clemente.

Trump attacks Biden, Democratic leaders at rally, says DC police took 'tremendous abuse' protecting those who left RNC

Supporters waited hours in line for President Trump to take the stage for a rally

President Trump focused his New Hampshire rally Friday night on blaming Democrats, first for harassment aimed at attendees of his White House nomination acceptance speech the night before, then at opponent Joe Biden.

"The mayor should be ashamed for that kind of display of incompetence," Trump told supporters at his New Hampshire rally Friday. "It's happening all over when you have Democrat-run cities."

Trump, calling the D.C. protesters "thugs," said the D.C. police are "good" but that D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser gave them "bad instructions."

"Police took tremendous abuse," the president continued. "Rand Paul was in big trouble last night. He's a good guy." Trump added that he told Paul he would invite the four officers who protected him to the White House for a medal.

Trump said he was looking at the situation in D.C., but the mayor should be able to manage the city. "She always looking for more money. What're you gonna waste it, er, spend it on mayor?"

His administration was not "supposed" to go in to help keep the peace unless they declare insurrection, he said.

"That's a big statement, but you know what we're going to have to do? We're going to have to look at it, because were not going to let that happen to people who go to the White House to celebrate our country."

Protests fired up yet again in the district after the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisc. On Friday, viral video circulated showing Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., being harassed by demonstrators. Four officers surrounded him on his walk to his hotel, some using their bicycles as barrier between Paul and the protesters.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a stalwart in exposing Big Pharma’s agenda and the dangers of a COVID-19 vaccine, will be speaking this weekend in Berlin, Germany at the ‘coronavirus’ protest that could draw over 1 million people.

On his Twitter feed earlier today, RFK Jr. said he will be launching Children’s Health Defense Europe in Berlin while protesting “Bill Gates’ bio security agenda, rise of authoritarian surveillance state + Pharma sponsored coup d’etat against liberal democracy”:

According to an Off-Guardian report, a German court has overturned the ban that was originally placed on the protest by the Berlin Senate. Other large protests are planned for this weekend in major cities around the world, including in London, Ottawa, Paris and Zurich.

A Quarter Of All Personal Income In The US Comes From The Government

Today’s release of the latest Personal Income and Spending data showed that income and spending both rose more than expected in July, just ahead of the fiscal cliff at the end of that month, which as we showed last week has resulted in a sharp drop in spending among recipients of Unemployment Benefits.

In other words, it is safe to say that with much of the unemployment insurance benefits on their way out, as the following chart from Goldman shows…

… spending will slide in August and onward unless a new fiscal stimulus program is agreed upon by Congress (for now, consensus among strategists is that for that to happen, the market will need to suffer a correction first).

It is even safer to say that if all government stimulus were withdrawn, the US would stumble right into a double dip recession (if not depression), because as we have shown previously what was most remarkable about today’s personal income and spending data is just how reliant on the US government the population has become.

We are referring, of course, to Personal Current Transfer payments which are essentially government sourced income such as unemployment and emergency benefits, welfare checks, and so on. In July, this number was $4.9 trillion annualized, just a small drop from the $5 trillion in July.

Yulia Gokcedag, 35, and son Timur, 7, were both reported missing on August 12

Met Police officers forced their way into Tower Hamlets home the following day

Mother and son found dead with causes of death given as hanging and drowning

Detectives say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with tragedy

A Russian financier who is thought to have drowned her seven-year-old son and hanged herself had been suffering from breast cancer, neighbours said today.

Banking analyst Yulia Gokcedag, 35, and her son Timur had been reported missing to the Metropolitan Police on Wednesday 12 August.

Police grew increasingly concerned about their welfare and broke into the £687,000 flat on the Isle of Dogs in east London the next day at 3.20am.

Mrs Gokcedag and her son Timur were found dead inside the property, with a post-mortem giving their causes of death as hanging and drowning.

Friend and former colleague Agnieszka Leonowicz said she had been suffering from breast cancer but had been 'doing fine', while a neighbour said she had experienced depression several years ago.

A second neighbour told The Sun: 'I know she had breast cancer. It was really sad. I can't believe what has happened.'

Mrs Gokcedag married investment banker Mehmet Gokcedag, 50, in 2011 and they moved to London a year later, according to online profiles.

She had shared Facebook photos of days out with her husband in London, a trip to his native Turkey and the couple cradling baby Timur after his birth in 2013.

It is not clear if they were still together prior to her death.

Portland mayor tells President Trump to 'stay away' after offer to send federal officers, even as residents demand action

Mayor Wheeler accused the president of politicizing the riots

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, a Democrat, sent a strongly worded letter to President Donald Trump denying his offer to send federal officers to help quell the rioting stemming from racial protests.

Wheeler posted the letter to his official social media account on Friday.

"Yet again, you said you offered to aid Portland by sending in federal law enforcement to our city," wrote Wheeler.

"On behalf of the City of Portland: No thanks," he added.

Today, I sent this letter via email to @realDonaldTrump declining his recurring offer to aid Portland by sending f… https://t.co/QtUUQijTOj

— Mayor Ted Wheeler (@Mayor Ted Wheeler)1598644179.0

"We don't need your politics of division and demagoguery. Portlanders are onto you. We have already seen your reckless disregard for human life in your bumbling response to the COVID pandemic. And we know you've reached the conclusion that images of violence or vandalism are your only ticket to reelection," Wheeler continued.

Wheeler accused the president of trying to take advantage of the rioting for political gain.

"When you sent the Feds to Portland last month, you made the situation far worse. Your offer to repeat that disaster is a cynical attempt to stoke fear and distract us from the real work of our city," said the mayor.

"In Portland, we are focused on coming together as a community to solve the serious challenges we face due to systemic racism, a global pandemic and an economic recession," he added. "Stay away, please."

Business owners are angry at the protests

The mayor's message might be at odds with residents and business owners who are demanding action against the destructive looting and rioting the city has seen in recent months.

KOIN-TV reported that business leaders told the mayor in a video conference that the downtown was in a crisis over the crime and nightly violence.

"We are having a very very hard time keeping people employed at the very time when we need to have fewer people in the unemployment line. People don't want to work downtown," said Stacey Dodson, a business owner, during the conference.

"And as they're facing these difficult decisions, they're choosing to not stay employed, they'd rather be unemployed, than employed downtown, and that's a reality," she added.

Cannabis Use Leads to Fewer, Less Painful Migraines

Cannabis has a long and storied history as a medicinal plant. Its usefulness to humans and animals has been demonstrated through numerous clinical trials in recent years, as science seeks to fill gaps in knowledge due to ongoing criminalization of cannabis at the federal level, a prohibition that dates back to 1937.[i]

As more and more states pass laws allowing cannabis to be prescribed as medicine, this dearth of established science can leave doctors and patients guessing as to how, and what, cannabis effectively medicates.

A group of researchers in Haifa, Israel sought to add to the scientific knowledge base on cannabis as a potential treatment for migraine sufferers. Their findings contribute more evidence to the literature supporting the use of cannabis as a safe pain management alternative, and as a means of supporting a healthy brain.

Can Long-Term Cannabis Use Add Up to Fewer Headaches?

Researchers at the Israel Institute of Technology and the Institute of Pain Medicine in Haifa joined forces to study the effects of extended periods of cannabis use on the frequency of migraine headaches.

In the cooperative study published in the journal Brain Sciences,[ii] a total of 145 patients were assembled into a cohort consisting of 97 females and 48 males with a median history of inhaled medical cannabis use for three years.

The observational study analyzed the cohort via self-reported questionnaires and information derived from medical cannabis treatment features. Questionnaires were designed to investigate the associations between phytocannabinoid treatment and migraine frequency.

Phytocannabinoids are the active constituents within the plant that interact with your endogenous or “endocannabinoid” system, cannabinoid receptor sites that exist within both human and animal bodies.[iii] It was research on cannabis that led scientists to discover the endocannabinoid system, demonstrating a synergistic co-evolution between useful plants and the people and animals who consume them.[iv]

After the primary analysis, patients were retrospectively classified as “responders” or “non-responders,” with responders reporting a 50% or greater decrease in frequency of monthly migraine attacks following initiation of medical cannabis treatment. Non-responders were individuals who reported less than 50% decrease in monthly migraine frequency. A secondary analysis of comparative statistics evaluated further differences between these two subgroups.

Cannabinoids May Be Key to Effective Migraine Treatment

Results of this study showed that responders represented the majority of patients, with 61% reporting a 50% or greater reduction in frequency of migraine attacks. Responders further reported a lower level of disability from migraines and less negative impact, overall.

Using cannabis to medicate had the added effect of lowering rates of opioids and triptan consumption in response to migraines. Opioids are among the most addictive of all drug classes,[v] responsible for more than 67,000 deaths from overdose in 2018.[vi] Triptans are serotonin receptor agonists frequently prescribed for migraines, however, triptan drugs may not be indicated for older adults and those at risk for heart attack and stroke.[vii]

Declaring Portland’s riots to be riots may be RACIST because Oregon’s laws are rooted in state’s racist history, NPR says

After trying to whitewash the unrest gripping Portland for more than three months as “mostly peaceful” protests, the mainstream media is going a step further with NPR saying that declaring a riot to be a riot may be racist.

The taxpayer-funded media outlet said Thursday that when police declare protests in Portland to be riots, that definition “could be rooted in racism.” The story, reported by NPR’s Oregon Public Broadcasting affiliate, went on to say that laws governing riot declarations are “vague and have roots in Oregon’s deeply racist past.” Although Oregon outlawed slavery, it had laws banning blacks from living in the state or owning property.

For observers who have watched social media footage of fires burning, mobs of mostly white rioters throwing rocks and other objects at police, and people being attacked in the street by Black Lives Matter and Antifa activists, NPR’s theory may come as a surprise. Demonstrators in Portland have wounded law enforcement officers and set fire to buildings, including a police precinct and the police union headquarters. They also set up a barricaded autonomous zone near Mayor Ted Wheeler’s home in June, though police broke it up the next morning.

Wheeler has rejected offers of federal law enforcement assistance to help quell the riots and did so again today in a letter to President Donald Trump. The mayor blamed Trump for making the situation “far worse” when he set federal officers to Portland last month to defend federal property in the city.

Gulf Coast refineries restart after hurricane scare

Gulf of Mexico refiners have restarted production following a narrow miss from the devastating hurricane Laura.

Refineries along the Gulf Coast began to restart a day after hurricane Laura made landfall in Louisiana, most of them only suffering minimal or no damage. Motiva and Valero have so far been the only ones to report a problem – a chemical leak that was quickly contained for Motiva and a release of sulfur dioxide for Valero. The refiner said the gas was released during the shutdown of a refinery ahead of Laura’s landfall.

Oil prices immediately fell when it became clear that the likelihood of prolonged refinery disruption was small despite Laura’s unfortunate trajectory and landfall.

“Historically, hurricanes lead to widespread shut-ins, but production is immediately restored within a matter of days, therefore, leading to little long-term supply disruption,” the chief executive of Velandera Energy, Manish Raj, told MarketWatch.

More than 84 percent of oil production in the Gulf of Mexico remained shut in on Thursday and more than 60 percent of natural gas production after oil companies evacuated close to 300 production platforms. The oil output shut-in stands at 1.558 million bpd, and the gas output shut-in stands at 1.65 billion cu ft daily.

Laura made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane in southwestern Louisiana near Cameron in the early hours of August 27, with wind speeds reaching 150 mph and torrential rains drowning the coastal line.

The Texas Railroad Commission has said it was ready to assist refiners with any leaks or spills they might suffer as a result of the hurricane, or any other problems caused by Laura.

Some 16 percent of US refining capacity was shut down ahead of the hurricane’s landfall, Argus Media reported, and Total was already restarting its Port Arthur refinery on Thursday. Motiva, Valero, and Exxon were still assessing the restart of their facilities. Some refineries will take longer to restart, according to the report, because of extensive damage to the electrical grid in western Louisiana by the winds the hurricane brought to the coast.

At the time of writing, BP was the only producer in the Gulf that said they were preparing to restart production.
