The patent to read people's thoughts by recording electrical waveforms and comparing them with waveforms of the person's thoughts in a large database, exists. Until now, that may have required a wireless or satellite relay to a database server.

Think about how Google voice assistant or Siri hears your voice and converts it into phonemes and then words and sentences. Some of the processing is done locally on the device but some happens at the backend servers across the network.

CPUs, memories, and transmission speeds are now fast enough to enable this Halo thing.

 

But, 3-letters have been doing it for ages, already. This is commercialization of something that has been weaponized against us long ago.
