In my state, the decision to open schools was left to the school districts. Population of my community is roughly 40,000 and we had 11 CV deaths. Schools opened Aug. 17th and there is a great sense of pride within the community as to how the schools are doing it right.

On the flip side. My eldest is divorced with 2 children. School has been open for 10 school days. Mother has sent them for 3 days, father has kept them out for 7. The first week father called them out "sick". Mother called pediatrician, dr. examined children, found no illness and advised they are fine to go to school. Father called them out again and placed them on self quarantine, AMA. Father claims mother is sick and as his after school caregiver, he's afraid she is more vulnerable to CV. Boys then spent the night with mother and this weekend had a birthday party at her house, so this excuse seems invalid. Father then called them out again saying "he doesn't feel school is safe." Called out the next day claiming "don't believe in in-person" schooling. The divorce has been a three year nightmare. Father's actions have NOTHING to do with CV, he has alterior motives. Judge hears the case next week.
