Video: NYPD Arrests Suspect Filmed Attempting to Rape Woman on Subway Platform

Earlier in the day, the New York Police Department (NYPD) tweeted that it was seeking help from the public in identifying a man recorded on video sexually assaulting a woman on a subway platform. The suspect was wanted for attempted rape.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) took into custody a man who attempted to rape a woman in the subway and was video-recorded while doing so, NYPD Transit Police Chief Edward Delatorre tweeted on Sunday. An investigation is ongoing, as the police move to prosecution.

Earlier, a call for public help in finding the suspect was announced by the NYPD, with Delatorre decrying the incident as "brazen and brutal sexual assault". After announcing the arrest, the police chief again encouraged potential witnesses of the attack to step forward and report any information to the police.

The attempted rape was recorded at the 63rd St/Lexington Ave station, with video revealing a man lying atop a struggling woman, then standing up and walking away after picking up a pair of sunglasses.

At least one killed, five injured in restaurant shooting in Chicago

Six people have been shot at a Chicago restaurant, with one pronounced dead at the scene, the police have confirmed.

The shooting victims were dining in an outdoor tent at the Lumes Pancake House in the 11600 block of Western Avenue in the city. The five injured people were rushed to two separate hospitals, with three of them in serious-to-critical condition.

The individuals were reportedly shot by an unidentified person in a white SUV-style vehicle, and only one had been the intended target, according to local media reports. The shooting was called in at 2pm, and two detectives are now investigating at the crime scene. The motive behind the shooting and whether any arrests have been made is unknown at this time.

“He was dining outdoors under a tent when a white colored SUV drove up and fired shots striking him,” Chicago police said about the targeted individual, who is the confirmed deceased victim.

People shot in the city of Chicago over the weekend have totaled 43, with 10 of those being fatalities. Two police officers were shot earlier on Sunday, one of whom went through surgery for lung and abdominal injuries sustained in the incident. The shooting suspect was wounded by a third officer. The city has seen an increase in shootings this year. Last week, 15 were shot just on Wednesday, with one of those being a fatality.

More than 100 Seattle businesses closed for good because of COVID-19, other issues

SEATTLE — A new report from the Downtown Seattle Association shows how COVID-19 is impacting businesses not only in Seattle, but throughout the Puget Sound.

About 1,300 business have closed throughout the region, including more than 100 in Seattle.

People who visit downtown Seattle told KIRO 7′s Deedee Sun that it’s clear that businesses are struggling.

“Ghost town,” said Chester Grays, works downtown. “It feels empty.”

The report from the DSA says many of the 112 businesses across Seattle that have shut down permanently many were downtown.

Top figures in the Biden campaign privately apologized to Islamist activists for denouncing Linda Sarsour and her appearance at the Democrat convention.

Calling the move an “egregious misstep,” Biden adviser Symone Sanders said it was a mistake of the entire campaign and not just Biden’s spokesperson Andrew Bates.

After Sarsour’s appearance on a panel at the convention hosted by the Muslim Delegates and Allies Assembly, Bates said, “Joe Biden has been a strong supporter of Israel and a vehement opponent of anti-Semitism his entire life, and he obviously condemns her views and opposes BDS [the Boycott, Sanction and Divest movement against Israel], as does the Democratic platform. She has no role in the Biden campaign whatsoever.”

Tony Blinken, Biden’s top foreign policy adviser echoed the apology, saying, “This should not be on our colleague who put it out… I dropped the ball on it, and I take responsibility for that, and I regret that.”
