Call it strange though, my theory is the "key" owners may be looking to wipe out or buy the minority interest owner on the cheap (i.e. vsluation). They create an event that destroys their business model valuation in the short term, offer to be the "white knight" to the struggling minority owners.

Then after the "key" owners receive addition interest on the cheap, the event that is killing valuations ceases and the "key" owners have windfall gains.

agreed, however these venture capitalists can make it up by screwing the minority interest more. Plus, the venture capitalists are counting on the public to forgetting about the negative event in the future and come back in masses.
