Waukegan National Airport (IATA: UGN, ICAO: KUGN, FAA LID: UGN) is a public airport in Waukegan,in Lake County, Illinois.The airport is 40 miles north of Chicago. It was originally Waukegan Memorial Airport.It has been operated by the Waukegan Port District since 1956 and is the second busiest airport in Illinois for international arrivals.In January 2014 under a FAA reclassification of many small airports, the airport was renamed Waukegan National Airport.
In 2006 the airport had 69,007 aircraft operations, average 189 per day: 94% general aviation, 5% air taxi and 1% military. In January 2017, 162 aircraft were based at the airport: 93 single-engine, 24 multi-engine, 41 jet and 4 helicopter.
