it might have to do with wanting all the property to be worthless so that the bonds for building all that sports infrastructure can be . . . not paid back.

It's just part of the 'owners of America' deciding to throw all our our clothes out on to our lawns like they are kicking us out of our own house, as if they were our bad-spouse who cucklold us and got to get everything in the divorce.
