Scytl was tasked with publishing
results on the official European
Union Election Results Website
for the 2019 Parliament Election. This mission was made all
the more difficult considering
that the results needed to be
accessible to all 28 member
states, and in all 24 official EU
languages, in a timely fashion.
Over 400 million Europeans
were eligible to vote going into
the election, electing a total of
751 Members of the European
Parliament (MEPs). After receiving the results from our partner
Kantar, the data needed to be
efficiently and securely processed, presented to European
Parliament officials for review,
published on the official election
results website, and disseminated across various channels,
and integrated into an online
widget utilized by 250 national
and international media outlets.

Consortium Smartmatic-Steria mag elektronisch stemsysteem leveren

De nieuwe oplossing voor elektronisch stemmen voor de federale en de Vlaamse overheid zal afkomstig zijn van het Zuid-Amerikaans-Frans consortium Smartmatic-Steria. Tenminste als het prototype en de test ervan goed uitdraaien. Pas nadien zal een definitief raamcontract met een looptijd van 15 jaar worden afgesloten. Dat wordt geraamd op 150 à 250 miljoen euro. Smartmatic is een specialist in e-votingsystemen, die in 2000 opgericht is Venezuela en nu gevestigd is in Barbados. Het bedrijf heeft in Europa kantoren in Londen en Amsterdam. Smartmatic slaat de handen in elkaar met het Franse ict-dienstenbedrijf Steria. Dat was samen met Stesud al de ict-dienstenleverancier van het vorige elektronische stemsysteem. Dat zou de transitie dus kunnen vergemakkelijken.
