CDC tells states to be ready to distribute potential COVID-19 vaccine by Nov. 1

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has told state governors and health officials to be ready to distribute a possible coronavirus vaccine by Nov. 1, reports said Wednesday.

CDC Director Robert Redfield wrote in a letter to the officials last week that the McKesson Corporation — a Texas-based health care company — would soon request permits to build distribution sites, and that the process should be expedited, according to The Hill.

“The normal time required to obtain these permits presents a significant barrier to the success of this urgent public health program,” Redfield wrote, according to The Hill. “CDC urgently requests your assistance in expediting applications for these distribution facilities and, if necessary, asks that you consider waiving requirements that would prevent these facilities from becoming fully operational by November 1, 2020.”

Documents outlining the distribution of two potential vaccines were also sent last week to every state and US territory, along with five major cities, according to the New York Times: New York, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia and San Antonio.

The documents describe two unnamed vaccine candidates, each of which would require two doses spaced a few weeks apart, the Times reported.

Essential workers, national security employees, senior citizens and members of particularly vulnerable racial and ethnic groups would be among those prioritized for the treatments, the documents reportedly said.

Leading US health officials have voiced skepticism that a vaccine could be developed and approved before the end of the calendar year, while President Trump has accused federal officials of slow-walking the process to hurt his chances of re-election.

The Nov. 1 potential ready date is two days before the presidential election.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the US had seen 6,088,187 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 184,803 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.

New York City Pastor Kenneth Boller asked his Catholic Mass participants to make affirmations in standing against racial injustices.

In the now-viral prayer, Boller encouraged white people to renounce their privilege as he spoke near black and white portraits of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd.

Boller closed Sunday's 11:30 a.m. mass at the Church of St. Francis Xavier by requesting that congregants bow their heads for a "racial justice" prayer.

"I now invite you to stand, and joining us in the prayer for racial justice, by responding 'yes' to each of the following statements," Boller began.

He asked, "Do you support racial justice, equity, and compassion in human relations? Do you affirm that white privilege is unfair and harmful to those who have it and to those who do not? Do you affirm that white privilege and the culture of white supremacy must be dismantled where it is present? Do you support racial equity justice and liberation for every person? Do you affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person?"

In answering "yes," Boller encouraged churchgoers to commit to their promises:

Therefore, from this day forward, will you strive to understand more deeply the injustice and suffering white privilege and white supremacy cause? Will you commit to help transform our church culture to one that is actively engaged in seeking racial justice and equity for all, for everyone? Will you make a greater effort to treat all people with the same respect you expect to receive? Will you commit to developing the courage to live your beliefs and values of racial justice and equality? Will you strive to eliminate racial prejudice from your thoughts and actions so that you can better promote the racial justice efforts of our church? Will you renew and honor this pledge daily knowing that our church and our community, our nation, and our world will be better places because of our efforts?

Trump Signs Memo to Defund New York City and Three Other Cities with Out of Control Rioting and Anarchy

President Trump on Wednesday signed a memo ordering federal agencies to defund “anarchist jurisdictions” including New York City, Seattle and Portland.

The New York Post reported:

President Trump is ordering the federal government to begin the process of defunding New York City and three other cities where officials allowed “lawless” protests and cut police budgets amid rising violent crime, The Post can exclusively reveal.

Trump on Wednesday signed a five-page memo ordering all federal agencies to send reports to the White House Office of Management and Budget that detail funds that can be redirected.

New York City, Washington, DC, Seattle and Portland are initial targets as Trump makes “law and order” a centerpiece of his reelection campaign after months of unrest and violence following the May killing of George Floyd by Minnesota police.

“My Administration will not allow Federal tax dollars to fund cities that allow themselves to deteriorate into lawless zones,” Trump says in the memo, which twice mentions New York Mayor Bill de Blasio by name.

Pompeo Unveils Extensive New Restrictions On Chinese Diplomats In US

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Wednesday morning announced severe new restrictions on Chinese diplomats in the United States.

He cited that American diplomats in China "face constant barriers to their work" and so Washington is responding in a commensurate way.

"Today, the State Department imposed new requirements on senior PRC diplomats conducting meetings and events in the U.S. We will always advocate for fair treatment of our diplomats abroad," Pompeo introduced.

This includes requiring senior Chinese diplomats working in the US to seek formal approval from the State Department in order to visit any American university campus or meet with local or state government officials.

In a press briefing the top US diplomat cited China's own "opaque approval process" for American diplomatic personnel working in China, which ultimately prevents them from "conducing regular business, attending events, securing meetings, and connecting with the Chinese people."

He specifically called out restrictions facing US staff when it comes to accessing Chinese university campuses, and even engaging the local population via media or social media.

Even cultural events hosted by the Chinese embassy which are "off campus" - or outside Chinese missions - which include over 50 people will also require formal US approval.

Pompeo's remarks emphasized that Washington is in essence imposing on China the exact same set of restrictive hurdles routinely facing Americans in Beijing.

Last year the State Department said the Chinese embassy must merely "notify" US officials in advance, but this takes things to a new level, with the US giving itself complete power of oversight on whether a meeting or event can even proceed.

This also comes after days ago Pompeo said he hopes the state-sponsored Confucius Institue will be gone from US soil by year's end.

Barr: Police Chiefs Identify Antifa ‘as the Ramrod’ for Violence – ‘They Are Flying around the Country’

On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Situation Room,” Attorney General William Barr stated that he has spoken to every single police chief in cities that have had “major violence” and those police chiefs have all “identified Antifa as the ramrod for the violence.” He added that “They are flying around the country. We know people who are flying around the country. We know where they’re going.” And that there were “numerous reports” of individuals coming to Washington “for the specific purpose of causing a riot” during the RNC.

Barr said, “I’ve talked to every police chief in every city where there’s been major violence, and they all have identified Antifa as the ramrod for the violence. They are flying around the country. We know people who are flying around the country. We know where they’re going. We know — we see some of the purchases they’re making before the riots of weapons to use in those riots. So, we are following it.”

He later added that the Department of Justice has “received numerous reports of individuals coming from Portland, Washington, Seattle, and several other cities to come into Washington for the specific purpose of causing a riot.”

The conspiracy theory and cult movement known as QAnon is attempting to hijack the good names of organizations leading the fight against child sexual abuse and sex trafficking. We cannot let this happen.

QAnon followers preach that a cabal of powerful people within government, business, academia and media are seeking world domination while engaging in child sex trafficking, pedophilia, cannibalism, and satanic sacrifice. To advance their agenda, QAnon followers have adopted a propaganda tactic that demands an immediate response from all of us in the field.

QAnon promoters are parasites. To grow their footprint, gain credibility, and spread misinformation, they associate their message of hate and bigotry with well-known, well-regarded organizations—specifically those working to end child sexual abuse and sex trafficking. That strategy threatens to diminish our identities, tarnish our reputations and harm our good works.

The problem is deepening. Many of our supporters are unknowingly re-distributing QAnon messages embedded within posts that appear to be straightforward statements against pedophilia and trafficking. We must speak out strongly against this. Just as education is the most powerful means we have to prevent child sex abuse and trafficking, education will be our most powerful weapon against the threat QAnon presents. All of us working in the field must join together and speak out loudly.
