I occupied a doorway of a bus at the interchange in Christchurch with my only demand being to get fined for not wearing a face mask on public transport. Calls were made to the police at the time but they did not show up until I left the bus a little over an hour later. The timing was as if they were called the moment I stepped of the bus and came straight away.
I accept that some people will be upset at my actions and I would like to draw your attention to my simple demand that the threatened enforcement action be taken and a fine issued. If the Government had been ready to enforce this "mandate" on the first day then this protest would have been over in a few minutes.
All I wanted was a fine for not wearing a mask.
The first 10 days of the Lock Down Were Illegal. How Do we Know The Mask Mandate is Not The Same.
Until the claimed mandate is tested in court then it is just Cindy telling us what to do. This is not how laws are made in a free and democratic society.
Here is the note that I showed during this protest.
-------------------
To whom it may concern, with due regard
I am disrupting normal business operations to conduct a human
rights protest in defense of the rights and freedoms of all New Zealanders.
We the people have a right to clearly defined laws that observe due
process including publicly available policing guidelines.
A cornerstone of a free and democratic society is the limitation of
regal authority. In New Zealand constitutional Law the case Fitzgerald v
Muldoon is a relevant reference.
The mandate to wear masks on public transport is a blatantly
unjustified limitation on human rights that is completely disproportionate
to the risk posed. Comparatively my actions are both reasonable and
proportionate.
While I claim my ancient right of protest I also apologies for any
inconvenience and thank you for your time.
I hereby give formal notice that I am in breach of the Mask mandate
on public transport.
It is our right to test new laws before a judge. In the absence of due
process in the declaration of this mandate, I demand any available mask
mandate enforcement measures be applied to me now so that this could
be tested in court.
Sincerely
Adam Nuttall
