La Bombelera had been teaching for years as a black woman.

The Daily Mail reported:

A professor of African American history at George Washington University, who publicly identified as black, has now admitted she is a white woman from Kansas City and has been lying about her race for years.

Jessica Krug, 38, revealed on Thursday in a bombshell Medium post that she has lied about being black her entire career and admitted to deceiving her friends and colleagues.

She said in the blog post – titled ‘The Truth, and the Anti-Black Violence of My Lies’ -that she is white, Jewish and was raised in Kansas City. ‘For the better part of my adult life, every move I’ve made, every relationship I’ve formed, has been rooted in the napalm toxic soil of lies,’ she wrote.

‘To an escalating degree over my adult life, I have eschewed my lived experience as a white Jewish child in suburban Kansas City under various assumed identities within a Blackness that I had no right to claim: first North African Blackness, then US rooted Blackness, then Caribbean rooted Bronx Blackness.’

In a video posted online in June of this year under her activist pseudonym, Jessica La Bombalera, Krug denounces ‘all these white New Yorkers who waited four hours with us to be able to speak and then did not yield their time for Black and Brown indigenous New Yorkers’.

WHO's Oral Vaccine Sparks New Polio Outbreak In Africa

A week after World Health Organisation (WHO) declared that its decade-long vaccination campaign in Africa was successful, its own oral vaccine itself has sparked a new Polio outbreak in the continent. The outbreak has been caused by mutation of strain in vaccine.

WHO’s Oral Vaccine Sparks New Polio Outbreak In Africa

A new polio outbreak in Sudan has been linked to the oral polio vaccine that uses a weakened form of the virus.

News of the outbreak comes a week after the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that wild polio had been eradicated in Africa.

The WHO linked the cases to a strain of the virus that had been noted circulating in Chad last year and warned that the risk of spread to other parts of the Horn of Africa was high.

In a statement on the new cases, the WHO said two children in Sudan, one from South Darfur state and the other from Gadarif state, close to the border with Ethiopia and Eritrea, were paralysed in March and April. Both had been recently vaccinated against polio.

The WHO said initial outbreak investigations showed the cases were linked to a continuing vaccine-derived outbreak in Chad that was first detected last year and is now spreading in Chad and Cameroon.

The vaccine-derived polio emerged soon after the announced eradication of wild polio in Africa. The outbreak has been caused by mutation of strain in vaccine.

In November last year, new cases of polio linked to the oral vaccine were reported in four African countries. More children were being paralysed by vaccine-derived viruses than those infected by viruses in the wild, according to global health numbers.

Use of the oral polio vaccine was discontinued in the UK in 2004 and the US in 2000, and the UN agency advises that the use of the oral vaccine should be discontinued because of the risk of vaccine-derived outbreaks.

BBC launches investigation after senior journalist accused of trolling Jewish radio presenter Emma Barnett under pseudonym

The BBC has launched a probe into its journalist Nimesh Thaker, who has been accused of using an anonymous Twitter account to troll BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Emma Barnett.

The Jewish Chronicle is reporting, based on screenshots seen by the paper, that BBC World News journalist Nimesh Thaker trolled Barnett under the pseudonym ‘Not That Bothered’ to support those attacking the presenter on Twitter.

The abuse took place after Barnett made a speech decrying rapper Wiley’s calls for Jewish people to “crawl out” and “defend their privilege,” causing a torrent of anti-Semitism online in July.

The presenter discussed the impact of anti-Semitism on her family – Barnett’s grandmother fled Austria to escape the Nazis – and condemned Wiley’s outburst.

Thaker’s alleged troll account supported those critical of Barnett in the immediate aftermath, while posting messages stating that the state of Israel was both “racist” and “white supremacist.”

Thaker was allegedly the architect of his own demise as he reportedly forgot to log out of the troll account and contacted people for information he would use in his capacity as a BBC world journalist, according to the Jewish Chronicle.

“The BBC takes allegations of this nature extremely seriously, and while we cannot comment on individual staff issues, we have robust processes in place to investigate any such matters with urgency,” the BBC said in a statement.

The BBC is already undergoing a major overhaul of its practices following the recent Proms debacle.

“These allegations are very concerning and, as the nation’s broadcaster, we expect BBC journalists to adhere to the highest standards of impartiality,” Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said of the reported internal investigation.

Netanyahu condoned sale of F-35s to UAE, despite public denial - report

Sources familiar with the negotiations say Netanyahu went along with the plan for the Trump administration to sell weapons to the UAE.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu privately condoned the US plan to sell highly-advanced F-35s fighter jets to the UAE, despite publicly saying that he opposed the arms deal, the New York Times reported early Friday.

Sources familiar with the negotiations told the New York Times that Netanyahu went along with the plan for the Trump administration to sell the F-35s to the UAE, choosing not to block the deal.

This is after Netanyahu categorically denied condoning the sale, according to Haaretz. Two weeks ago, Netanyahu said that the Israel-UAE agreement did not include Israel’s agreement to a US-UAE F-35 deal.

Besides the F-35s, the arms deal includes the sale of Reaper drones.

The deal also includes the sale of electronic warfare planes with air defense jamming capabilities, a part of the package not previously reported, according to the New York Times.

Israel has long sought to maintain qualitative air superiority in the Middle East, having historically attempted to discourage the sale of advanced military equipment to states in the region. In 1981, Israel and the America-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) pushed the Reagan administration to not sell airborne early warning and control systems (AWACs) to Saudi Arabia.

Israel's ambassador to the US Ron Dermer gave a statement saying that Netanyahu did not give approval for a weapons deal involving F-35s.

The era of co-operation in national cabinet is over, after Scott Morrison’s hopes of reopening state borders were crushed.

Scott Morrison has declared the national cabinet is “no longer a consensus forum” after his hopes of an agreement on definition of hotspots to reopen borders was crushed by Queensland.

News.com.au has confirmed the Prime Minister opened up today’s meeting by telling state premiers that it will no longer be run on a consensus approach.

While states have always been free to go their own way on issues including school closures, the states have interpreted the Prime Minister’s declaration as signalling a new way of doing business at the national cabinet.

Sources in the Morrison Government also confirmed the Prime Minister’s remarks after officials in state premiers’ offices contacted news.com.au.

“He opened up with it so it’s, ‘I am changing the rules so I don’t get rolled’,’’ a state official said.

But federal sources said it was a “very positive meeting” with most states happy to sign up to a national definition of hotspots to move towards reopening borders.

The national cabinet meeting is still continuing and Scott Morrison is expected to hold a press conference shortly.

Declaring the national cabinet will no longer be run on a consensus approach will allow the Prime Minister to publicly confirm which states have agreed to various measures including a definition of national hotspots and effectively ‘name and shame’ those states that won’t budge.

Netanyahu secretly okayed F-35 jet sales to UAE, report claims

New York Times quotes officials saying Netanyahu lied about his opposition to the deal, which also includes ultra-advanced radar-jamming planes that could give the UAE a step up

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has privately removed any opposition to the sale of American F-35 fighter jets to the United Arab Emirates, despite repeated assurances that he is against the deal, according to a New York Times report published late Thursday.

The report, which cites unnamed sources involved in the talks, claims that along with the ultra-advanced jets and Reaper drones, the deal also includes radar-blocking EA-18G Growler jets, which could erode the effectiveness of Israel’s air defense capabilities and put the UAE at a considerably military advantage.

The centerpiece of the deal, however, are the F-35 fighter jets, which the UAE has sought to purchase for several years. The sale has seemingly been held up due to a US commitment to protect Israel’s military edge in the region, which would preclude selling weapons of the same caliber to both Israel and Arab states without an okay from Jerusalem.

A recent announcement that the UAE is normalizing ties with Israel has brought the weapons deal back to the fore, though after an Israeli report that linked the forging of ties with the lifting of Israel’s objection, Netanyahu insisted that he still objects to the sale and that he has repeatedly informed Washington of his opposition.

But officials told the New York Times that Netanyahu’s statements were “false.” They added that the premier had stopped making public statements about the deal since a visit by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last week.

The report also quoted Hussein Ibish, a researcher at Washington’s Arab Gulf States Institute, who said officials from the US, UAE and Israel all told him Netanyahu gave the weapons deal a green light.

Netanyahu told the Emiratis that “there would not be substantive and categorical opposition,” he said.

Let’s Not Fall Into The Empire’s Trap==

I’m sorry, those who know me know that I’m strongly anti-racist and have previously written (positively) about the American Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, but things that have happened in the last two years have dramatically changed the perspective.

It is obvious that the United States is a racist country, but what is happening today is unfortunately not a genuinely popular revolt but rather a manipulation of events to resolve the current power conflict within the American elite.

I am sure that neither Malcolm X nor Martin Luther King would have supported this kind of protest, not because they would accept at all the discrimination and violence against blacks and minorities in the United States, but because the protests are developing in a sectarian sense to divide the impoverished population of the United States and provoke a civil war.

This is not what those two great leaders wanted.

What do I care as an anti-racist that they throw away a statue of Columbus (who incidentally was not the worst of the conquerors) when in fact these groups, if their commitment was really serious, should be fighting the currently prevailing system of racism and colonialism through which the US oppresses the rest of the world?

If they are anti-racists and anti-colonialists, they should demand an end to the funding of the Zionist State of Israel, or an end to the colonization of Puerto Rico, or of the blockades of Cuba and Venezuela, or the lifting of the evil Nica Act, or, for example, the dismantling of the colonial structure of the Organization of American States, a living example of US colonialism and Atlanticism in our day, which routinely does such infamous things as the shameful coup d’état against the democratically elected indigenous government of Evo Morales Ayma in Bolivia.

Don’t think that we in Africa, Asia and Latin America have forgotten the 500 or 600 years of European colonialism. But that same colonialism is now killing us today, not centuries ago. It is today that we must stop the genocide.

You can not be antiracist without demanding the end of a world economic order that feeds on human flesh and is the basis of the economies of the United States, Canada and Western Europe.

If one is serious about the problem of racism, one must necessarily be anti-imperialist. One cannot be anti-racist and accept living in the shadow of imperialism, simply because it is only within that oppressive and inhuman structure that racism makes sense.

Everything else is just excuses, empty talk trying to mask the true nature of power relations in the world. Any seriously anti-racist movement must necessarily be politically independent from imperial interests, and if it is a well-informed movement it must also, of necessity, avoid at all costs falling into the trap of sectarianism.

One Crew Member Missing in Super Tanker Off Sri Lanka Presumably Dead, Navy Says

A fire erupted after an explosion of a boiler in the main engine room of MT New Diamond, and is still raging on, according to the navy.

A crew member missing in crude carrier New Diamond off Sri Lanka has been presumed dead, the Sri Lanka Navy said on Friday.

The fire is still raging on board the oil tanker, but no oil spill has been identified so far, the navy said. One member of the crew has been injured and brought to Sri Lanka, Navy spokesman Captain Indika de Silva said.

Apart from the Sri Lanka Navy, the Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Indian Navy, and Indian Coast Guard are at the scene trying to distinguish the fire.

The New Diamond was travelling from Kuwait to the Indian port of Paradip, fully loaded with the equivalent of about 2 million barrels of oil.

The Antifa protester suspected in the shooting death of a supporter of the right-wing group Patriot Prayer in Portland, Oregon has reported died as officers attempted to arrest him.

Michael Forest Reinoehl, 48, was killed on Thursday night during the encounter in Lacey, Washington, southwest of Seattle, when a federal fugitive task force moved to apprehend him, officials told the New York Times.

Earlier in the day, Reinoehl had spoken out in an interview claiming that he had acted in self defense - but a witness and friend of the victim blasted the claim, saying that the shooting came from behind without provocation.

'I had no choice. I mean, I, I had a choice. I could have sat there and watched them kill a friend of mine of color. But I wasn't going to do that,' Michael Reinoehl, 48, said in a video interview published by Vice News on Thursday.

Aaron 'Jay' Danielson, 39, was fatally shot on Saturday as he was leaving a political demonstration in support of President Donald Trump.

Reinoehl did not say outright that he shot Danielson in the fragment of video shown by Vice News before the full interview is aired on Thursday night, but did say his actions that night were in self-defense.

Vice News reported that Reinoehl said he feared he and his friend would be stabbed, but the portions of the interview released so far do not elaborate on this claim.

However, Chandler Pappas, a friend of Danielson who was standing next to him when he was killed, has blasted Reinoehl's statements, saying that there was no confrontation or provocation prior to the shooting.

'I know they will not produce anything to corroborate that story whatsoever,' Pappas said of Reinoehl's claims.

'They came up behind us, they shot my friend and killed him,' Pappas said in an interview with Fox News on Thursday.

'When they started yelling at us, we turned around. I didn't even have time to register that someone was pointing a gun at us before those shots went off,' Pappas said.

Pappas identified the shooter as 'a white guy' and noted: 'He was the only person downtown that night, other than myself, who was wearing a white shirt.'

Pappas said that he was not armed during the incident. He said that a cloud of smoke seen in bystander video of the shooting is from a can of bear mace that Danielson was carrying, which he says was punctured by one of the bullets.

The bystander video of the shooting appears to show Danielson and Pappas crossing the street toward a parking garage, before someone shouts 'We got another here!'

Another person is heard asking 'Here?' immediately before two shots ring out.

Pappas said that no words were exchanged before the shots were fired. He said all he heard before the shots were words to the effect of 'we got a couple right here' and someone shouting 'pull it out.'
