The feds have started bringing alleged Portland rioters up on federal "civil disorder" charges for crimes against state officers who "have been cross-deputized by the federal government," Andy Ngo reported Wednesday.

He described former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders as an "amoral, demented twat," current press secretary Kayleigh McEnany as "an insane twat," and Rep. Liz Cheney (R., Wy.) as a "lying, ignorant twat." In 2018, he referred to Maine Sen. Susan Collins and two of her Republican colleagues as "uptight old twats."

Tara McGowan, Fake News Network Owner, to Speak on Panel About Fake News
Tara McGowan, whose Courier Newsroom project has been labeled "hyperlocal partisan propaganda" for its spreading of pro-Democrat messages on social media, announced Wednesday that she would speak later this month on a panel dedicated to "fake news and social media disinformation."
McGowan, CEO of the Democrat-aligned political firm Acronym, will appear on the panel, jointly hosted by Northeastern University-Seattle and the World Affairs Council of Seattle, on September 17. Slated to speak alongside her are journalists Davey Alba of the New York Times, Peter Hamby of Snapchat, and McKay Coppins of the Atlantic, which is owned by Acronym investor Laurene Powell Jobs.

NBA viewers flee as the league turns “too political,” poll finds
A recent Harris poll has revealed that 39% of self-identified sports fans have chosen to watch fewer NBA games this season, largely because the league has become overly politicized.
Following the pandemic-induced sports-drought, many expected a ratings surge for the return of basketball. Instead, even heading into the playoffs, viewership for the NBA has tanked.
Of those who acknowledged watching less of the NBA:
38% of respondents said it was because "the league has become too political"
28% of respondents said it was because the games are "boring without fans"
19% of respondents said it was because of the NBA's relationship with China
The ratings drop caught the attention of President Trump.

Pelosi, Mnuchin Cut a Deal on Funding Bill
The government will technically run out of money on September 30 and for members of Congress, this presented a nightmare scenario. Republicans would dearly love to pass some kind of pandemic relief bill before they break until after the election. But with negotiations still stalled, the prospect of being tied up with a coronavirus relief bill and having to deal with a bill to fund the government past September 30 at the same time would have been problematic.
To forestall that eventuality, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have agreed to treat the two issues separately. This means that any government funding bill will be “clean” — no pandemic relief measures included.
Politico:
“House Democrats are for a clean continuing resolution,” Drew Hammill, deputy chief of staff for Pelosi, said in a statement.
There is no consensus for how long the stopgap would extend government funding past Sept. 30, Hill aides said. House and Senate Democratic leaders haven’t formally discussed the issue yet, although a mid-December deadline would be the traditional practice during an election year.

Black Pastors Demand Nike Drop the 'Anti-Christian' Marxist Black Lives Matter Movement
On Thursday, a coalition of a few hundred black pastors, bishops, and other clergy sent a letter to Nike President and CEO John Donahoe. They demanded his company drop its support for the “anti-Christian” Marxist Black Lives Matter movement and condemn the Chinese government for its oppression of the Uyghur minority. Bishop Aubrey Shines spoke at a press conference announcing his group, the Conservative Clergy of Color.
“Nike is on record supporting the Black Lives Matter movement,” Shines said at the press conference. “A multi-billion dollar company is funneling funds into an organization whose only objective is to destroy America as we know it… while they turn a blind eye to China.”
Shines said that “several hundred black and brown pastors and bishops throughout this nation” have joined together in the group Conservative Clergy of Color. He began the press conference by reading from the group’s letter to Donahoe.

“We the leaders of Conservative Clergy of Color have watched with sadness and frustration as the country we love has been torn apart by violence and looting,” the letter begins. “This civil terror, perpetrated and lead by the Black Lives Matter movement, has turned American against American and possibly set race relations back decades.”

US blacklisting of ICC prosecutor must be reversed, EU says
The European Union's top diplomat called on Thursday for Washington to reverse its sanctions on International Criminal Court prosecutor Fatou Bensouda and another member of the ICC, calling the measures "unacceptable and unprecedented".
The United States blacklisted Bensouda on Wednesday over her investigation into whether American forces committed war crimes in Afghanistan, under sanctions authorised by President Donald Trump in June that allow for asset freezes and travel bans.
Sanctions were also imposed on Phakiso Mochochoko, the head of the Hague-based ICC Jurisdiction, Complementarity and Cooperation Division.
"The sanctions … are unacceptable and unprecedented measures that attempt to obstruct the court's investigations and judicial proceedings," Josep Borrell said in a statement. Washington should "reconsider its position and reverse the measures it has taken", he said.

Portland mayor rejects help from President Trump, but cooperates with the Chinese Communist Party
The Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) has refused the president’s offer of help to send in law enforcement to his city ravaged by riots and looting for more than 90 days, but his relationship with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has rung warning bells for law officials.
“On behalf of the City of Portland: No thanks,” Wheeler wrote in an open letter to the president on Friday, Aug. 28. “We don’t need your politics of division and demagoguery.” Not so with Wheeler’s connections to the Chinese Communist Party, as he has no such reservation cooperating with the CCP.
The FBI has been “actively looking” into the CCP’s involvement in the riots decimating American cities. In 2017, San Francisco’s Chinese Communist Party Consul General Luo Linquan visited Oregon to commend the advantages of a more in-depth U.S.-China relationship and China’s Belt and Road (BRI) initiative. The scheme is actively promoted in many countries by Beijing, as it allows the CCP to gain economic and political power by providing debt-induced loans.
Luo met with Wheeler during his trip and Wheeler promised he was “willing to strengthen the ties of communication and exchanges with China in the future.” Luo also gave a speech at Portland’s University Club, where his talk was given high praise. Luo “encouraged Oregon enterprises to take their own advantages and actively participate in the construction of the [Belt and Road] Initiative,” reported The National Pulse.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed will not fine House Speaker Nancy Pelosi despite Pelosi being caught on camera breaching CCP (Chinese Communist Party) Virus restrictions at eSalon, 3 miles north of the central business district.
On surveillance footage obtained by Fox News Pelosi can be seen standing up and walking through the business without wearing her face mask. She later admitted to having her hair washed and dried on Aug. 31, even though beauty salons were ordered to keep their doors closed in March and were only supposed to serve customers outdoors from Sept. 1.

Thomas Laubach Was Our Star at the Fed
Thomas Laubach, the director of the Federal Reserve Board’s Division of Monetary Affairs since 2015 (appointed by then Fed chair Janet Yellen and had since continued to advise Chair Powell through the current COVID-19 recession) sadly passed away this week, at age 55, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. If you never heard of him, he was probably the most influential macroeconomist you hadn’t heard of who had an enormous impact on your life vis-à-vis central bank interest-rate policy, not only at the Fed in the U.S. but around the world.
He was also particularly known for co-developing with John Williams, the current president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, a measurement of the neutral rate of interest (commonly known as “R-Star”) which came to be famously known as the “Laubach-Williams” neutral rate of interest. The neutral rate can be thought of as the level of interest rates at which inflation would neither increase or decrease if a given central bank was to keep their benchmark interest rate at that level.
Thomas Laubach, one of US Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell’s top advisers, passed away on September 2, following a short battle with cancer.
In a statement, Powell said Laubach was a “world-class economist” who was “universally respected for his significant contributions to the theory and practice of monetary policy.”

Italy's Berlusconi tests positive for coronavirus
Italy's former prime minister the media tycoon Silvio Berlusconi announced Wednesday that he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus and is in quarantine at home.
Berlusconi, who once owned AC Milan, stressed that he would continue his political activities.
"I will be present in the electoral campaign with interviews on televisions and in newspapers," he said during a video-conference of Forza Italia's women's movement.
However, he recognised "the limitations imposed on my activities by testing positive for the coronavirus… but I will continue the battle."
