Primetime Ratings Crash for Woke MLB

 

Major League Baseball opened this year by kneeling for the anthem and standing for Black Lives Matter. Though, despite the apparent belief that our sports-starved nation’s hunger for baseball would outweigh the league’s social justice activism, the ratings have been in the basement.

 

According to the numbers, baseball has joined the NBA in struggling to get sports fans to tune in and watch games.

 

Sunday, baseball’s flagship primetime night, has been particularly bad. As Sports Media Watch reports, last Weekend’s edition of Sunday Night Baseball was down 30 percent over last year.

It is ironic to me that MLB has followed the NBA and NFL path of no return. Professional baseball started back in the 1870’s and one of the motivations for forming a league was to unify a country torn apart by a bloody Civil War. I believe they started the tradition of playing the National Anthem as a display of patriotism and to honor those soldiers who died fighting for us during WWII. Shameful that those in charge now have allowed these disrespectful protests and divisive behavior.

If subscribers don't cut the cord and continue to pay for sports channels (ESPN,etc) in their monthly bill professional sports will continue to be paid whether they have an audience or not. Subscribers need to cut the cord or demand that their cable provider allow them to choose (ala carte) their channels!

To get people watching again just say, "MLB is getting out of politics" and do away with anything political on the field or uniform. Treat political gestures like profanity by penalizing it thru fines and/or suspensions without pay. Just play ball.
