The sister of Portland shooting suspect Michael Forest Reinoehl was “relieved and also disappointed” by her brother’s death Thursday — and now fears it will kick off a fresh wave of violence.

April Reinoehl said she knew her Antifa-supporting brother’s death was only a matter of time. But she was shocked to learn it was a US Marshals task force — and not right-wing supporters — that took him out in Washington state.

“I wouldn’t say at this point that this counts as bad news. It’s just more news,” April told the Daily Mail, which broke the news of Michael’s killing in a phone call.

“Honestly I didn’t expect it to be the police, I expected it to be the people who had a contract out for him. I was expecting the angry population of people who were out for blood.”

April, who was estranged from the 48-year-old security guard, expects his death will spur even more violence.

The teacher and mom of two described Michael as an “impulsive” person who let his “worst emotions guide his actions” — and then tried to rationalize them afterward. She also believed he wouldn’t go down without a fight.

“So I’m not surprised he got himself killed. I’m surprised a police officer did it,” she said. “I’m relieved and also disappointed by that.”

April identified her brother to police after the deadly Portland shooting, saying he was verbally abusive to their dementia-stricken mother and in a “downward spiral” of debt after a failed career as a professional snowboarder.

This fall at Washington and Lee University (removal of Lee pending), students will learn reading writing, arithmetic — and “How to Overthrow the State.” As antifa riots have continued in Portland for almost 100 nights, students at the Virginia university named after George Washington and Robert E. Lee* will study Marxist revolutions in the Global South, complete with role-playing regime change.

Writing Seminar 100-18, “How to Overthrow the State,” will award each student three credits toward graduation.

“This course places each student at the head of a popular revolutionary movement aiming to overthrow a sitting government and forge a better society,” a course description explains. “How will you attain power? How will you communicate with the masses? How do you plan on improving the lives of the people? How will you deal with the past?”

“From Frantz Fanon to Che Guevara to Mohandas Ghandi and others, we explore examples of revolutionary thought and action from across the Global South,” the description adds. “Students engage these texts by participating in a variety of writing exercises, such as producing a Manifesto, drafting a white paper that critically analyzes a particular issue, and writing a persuasive essay on rewriting history and confronting memory.”

While there is nothing wrong with studying Marxist revolutionaries like Che Guevara, it does seem a bit unnerving that a university class would encourage students to emulate them and to “overthrow the state” — especially amid violent riots and looting in cities across America.

Here we go again

A federal judge ruled that Detroit police officers cannot use batons, shields, gas or bullets against protesters for at least the next two weeks.

U.S. District Court Judge Laurie Michelson issued a ruling Friday night partially granting a temporary restraining order in the lawsuit filed by activist group Detroit Will Breathe against the City of Detroit and Detroit Police Department.

In the order, Michelson ruled that the city cannot use "striking weapons, chemical agents, or rubber bullets" against the protesters who do not pose a physical threat to the safety of the public or the police. Officers also cannot use chokeholds against the protesters.

"The Court recognizes that police officers are often faced with dangerous and rapidly evolving situations while trying to enforce the law and maintain the safety of the public. And it is important that police officers have non-lethal options to use to protect themselves and the public when necessary," Michelson wrote. "And any possible benefit police officers could gain from deploying chemical agents, projectiles, or striking weapons against demonstrators who pose no threat and are not resisting lawful commands is outweighed by the irreparable harm peaceful protestors would face."

Michelson ruled in part that police officers using excessive force does violate the protesters First and Fourth Amendment rights.

Citing different videos as evidence, Michelson wrote it "establishes that at least some Plaintiffs have a likelihood of success on their claims that the DPD used excessive force against them.

Melania Trump Called Out As A Birther After She Defends The President Against Anonymous Sources

The tweet received a lot of attention, racking up nearly 88,000 likes and over 27,000 retweets along with thousands of comments. Many replies were not complimentary of Melania, and several included an old tweet from President Trump in 2012 that mentioned an unnamed credible source who’d told him that Obama wasn’t born in the U.S.

“Melania Trump, a birther who spread the racist birther lie, now believes anonymous sources are dangerous. What was the First Lady’s ‘motivation’ to spread a racist lie when she had no evidence?” wrote Kyle Griffin, senior producer of MSNBC’s The Last Word.

“You falsely accused President Obama of being born in Kenya,” Dr. Eugene Gu, the founder and CEO of Cool Quit, replied.
