Think about "writing" in the context of programming, I.e., "to make it so." A "bullshitting debater," just like a lawyer, seeks to "re-write" or "re-program" or even replace reality through argumentation, or in other words, through the use of language. By it's very nature, it's not that different from spell-casting, or "black magic."
Just as in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God, they seek to be their own mini-gods through their manipulation of language and by extension, their manipulation of human minds to re-shape human reality.
