A thought, was syria bombing a cover/chess move to eliminate Iran and Hezbollah's influence in the area?
Isreal is lighting up Iran and hezbollah, we can't give Syria back to assad if Iran and Hezbollah have control. Iran has nuclear weapons.
Also calling Russias bluff helps show just how far Russia will go.
Another thought Syria, especially Assad is going to want revenge and will most likely never be an ally in that area.
