HermitAnon's Kentucky Derby Play of the Century (for this year):
#4 HONOR A.P.
WIN #4; Exactas #4 to the 1, 2 and longshot 19 (lightly raced Shirls Speight); Exacta box 1-2-4-19; Trifecta box 1-2-4-19; Baby bet WIN PLACE SHOW #19 Shirls Speight
In one of the weakest fields HermitAnon has seen for the Derby, all eyes are on #1 Tiz the Law. The last horse HermitAnon remembers winning from the rail was the perfect ride Willie Shoemaker made on Ferdinand back in 1980-something (it's all a haze, man 1986). Tiz the Law ran second in his only race over the Churchill Downs track and we used that to look elsewhere, while including Tiz both in and out of our exotics.
Coming out of the always overshadowed, best racing in the country in SoCal, #4 Honor A.P. calls Belmont Stakes and Breeders Cup Classic winner A.P. Indy 'Grand dad.' When HermitAnon analyzes a Derby, he focuses on a horse that is coming up to his best race, not those that may have ran their best races. HermitAnon says Honor A.P.'s nose.
