Once in the central valley I was tooling through like I used to do when I deluded that it was safe, and I had to get water, and stop somewhere. It's weird out there, you gotta keep running away from yourself. So I had to pull into some convenience store and buy water or jerky, or whatver I was eating on that trip. And people know you know. They know you're sizing them up. They understand that you see the decay all around the Valley, and that some parts really are seemingly killing fields. A dead end on a side street of a side street. A couple of hundred acres of one kind of tree. you go over a ridge and enter into a valley that is completely devoid of plant life and dry as a bone. You get a reservoir that is more than half dried up. You get to a mountain ridge line and it's covered with wind turbines, none of which are producing any energy . . .
it's a place of so much stupid government and parasitic entity boards of public utility, every town has a board of public water, and it's a grift the whole state over.
So this woman at the conveniecne store near Lodi (I remembered it was nothing like the song) said to me, when she thought I was sniffing my discontentmnet (which I was not, I was just manic and starving from too much driving). She said "This is a good area"

any way her statement to me was righteous. If she's there, it's a good area.
